Water-cooled centers were for paranoid jackasses who were scared of oil coking due to shutting off the engine after a hard run.
NONE of us do that, right?  It's the same for turbo timers - remember those?  If you're mindful of "cooling down" the turbo, then there is no need for the added complexities of a water-cooled center. -Ted
