hmm...well i would then assume that you have no signal too the coils. BUT i would check that as well. Just use a voltmeter and see if you are getting signal to the coils or not.

If not, i would then pursue what can affect cutting the ignition. Without my FSM stuff handy (at work) i dont want to speculate, but i have a similiar problem that is caused by a loose wire in the harness. Generally i just move the harness around and its fine for a few days. Not sure what it is, but it would lend me to believe there is a component that can kill the ignition signal.

does your tach work while cranking? ie does it bounce due to the starter cranking the engine?
