On another note, Brian won't give me a complex. Our cars are way to similar as it is, but at the end of the day.. my peak HP and TQ will yield a little higher of a number, lol. I mean, lets face it... twins can only do but so much :toetap05:

This is going to get ugly..I see it coming! :smilielol5: I think this calls for a dyno war @ KDR when your done with the FC. And for shits and grins invite your cousin Jamie with that 1200hp Supra :icon_no2:

WE3RX7 03-10-2011 04:35 PM

His 1200hp was sold a few years ago, their shop car is now a 900hp supra. Its actually much faster than the 1200hp one.

Dont worry about it getting ugly... I already got a slamming voice mail late last night from some sleep deprived mad scientist bent on twin turbo domination of the forced induction world :)

On that note, Brian... I'll give you a ring back shortly...

cant wait for ST setup this year :)

Getting a good base and ceramic coating them helps.

Not to mention keeping the EGT's in check as well is a good thing. When you pop the hood to check fluids at a gas stop and the mani is glowing beat cherry red hot, you've got problems. So IMO, tuning helps.

My problem really was I was getting and using used cartridges that had been sitting stagnent for years. So the seals all dry out. Then the first shot of pressure they see is 135+ psi, and 100+psi for hours on end, they tend to fail quickly.

But yea, aside from that, even a newly rebuilt core will fail quickly if the boost gets too high.

He deserves a complex, it keeps him motivated.... or it should. It hasn't, which is starting to concern me. I left him a VM last night, something to the effect of it really doesn't matter when the brakes that we're working on are done for him, 'cuz they'll just sit in a box or become some sort mantly piece becuase his FC will NEVER roll under it's own power

Harassing who? Me or him? I need some harrassment actually, been slacking. Just got back from OH and found out I'm going to CA in a fwe weeks FOR a few weeks. So in the course of 3 days, I lost 3 weeks...... this is a problem.....

Yeah, but twins + Cosmo > Twin renni's... that's really all the math I care about right now ;)

After that, Cosmo + secret turbo > net torque than whatever you've got planned :p for that plastic nosed FC or yours

haahahahaa  ahahahaa  hahahahaahaa :smilielol5:

I am bent on domination of the twin turbo rotary world. I will break that record, and I'll do it at less boost, then depending on how close we are, I may tweak a little more and go for 450:driving:

Gimme a shout tomorrow pal.... I'll be around all day.. Got the day off and when I cam back from OH tonight I found like 5 new packages:001_005: So I'll be doing a bunch of work on the ole' girl tomorrow.

2gslse 03-10-2011 09:48 PM

Brian, I was referring to one320fc's former weekly harrassment calls before he gave up on it for a while.
I think I should get the FD retuned before the gap this year but time is gonna be tight for me with work and its almost springtime (yardwork sucks) I am back from GA but will be going back in a few weeks to help a buddy get his crap together for DGRR and I still haven't even began working on my FB and it was gonna be my winter project but the RX8 kinda took up all my funding/time.

Ah I see.... I'm surprised I haven't recieved more heckling considering I missed Deals by a matter of hours last year. I certainly deserve any and all harassment that I get.

Shit man, it's not like it was all for nothing, I love your 8.... it's beautiful.

When Bill get's his lightweight flywheel bought and installed in his 8, we should definately make a trip back. I'm hoping to be there around the beginning of April for the first round of tuning and to get the trans swapped out. At the least get the tranny as close to completely dealt with as possible. I mounted my RX8 5-spd knob in my truck a few days ago; had to re-thread the shifter itself just to solidify my intentions of never ever taking the 5spd knob off

As far as I can tell they are still 100% Dropped the EGT's by really cranking on the timing. I think part of it was some sort of structural defect in the sleeve because the front rotor was exposed to the same EGT's and pressure and vibrations yet that one was flawless and has been... soooooo I dunno.

So far so good though

exactly lol, which is why im giving them a farewell salute this season and taking the plunge into the wonderful world of single turbo...ness

which technically speaking will actually save me money in the long run..plus so far its becoming a pretty cheap build...my estimate for the single turbo swap..parts only of course(nobody but me and the even cooler me in PA[if that makes any sense to you] touches my car...well you too lol but lets keep to the point lol) is looking around 2k
which includes:
turbo
custom manifold(which is almost done btw  )
dp
wastegates
lines(ext.)

so i can dig that, the hard part is deciding if i want to really go crazy this year and redo my IC setup as well as upgrade my oil coolers, redo the fuel system and AI all in one shot

i guess the deciding factor is if my new lady friend is a keeper or not

on a side note this weekend im determined to dig through my stuff to locate those switches for you...ive got a feint idea on their location....but ive been wrong before lol

aaannnndddd if we go back to the other side...note.... do you know anyone that does real good ceramic coating? once my manifold and what not is done i want to get it coated but i have no clue who does a good job at a good price

TwinTurbo ness when they're working properly is truly devine though.... I've gotta take you for a run in my car when she's back together again.

That's really not that bad at all when you think about what some of these "kits" are going for... and I use that term loosely. So that's some pretty good shit right there:icon_tup:

Meh, don't upgrade until it's needed. Bigger intercooler, bigger oil coolers, new lines, all that crap might not even be necessary. I say do it and see where you land with it all and roll from there.

Cool shit for sure man. Yeah, I'd definately be interested because the ones that I'm looking for are becoming more and more difficult to find and I don't feel like paying $180 each for new ones... so yeah, as of right now I'm open for suggestions

I think sport tuner down here in TX as a good rep for coatings along with IRP.

TitaniumTT 03-11-2011 12:02 AM

IRP doesn't coat. They sub out to SportTuner where all my shit is right now

ahh id be down for that, i do agree with you, they were a blast when i was sequential, and the second set still pulled real hard when i went nonsequential, i mean you remember how pissed i was i kept blowing block off caps i had you shut them all lol

im just tired of the car constantly breaking, i want to get rid of all weak links, and the twins are definetly one of them however fun they are, ill miss the stupid insane response, but i am building the car to get the best response i can and so far im satisfied with the path im taking, everytime i speak to dave he does nothing but tell me how much he likes what im planning so we will see

yea i know, i think the biggest thing i might do is a little sumtin sumtin for the fuel system...you know im still on the stock pump? lol and dual oil coolers to really drop temps

Sequential twins + 6spd + 4.3 Torsen = 4.1 0-60 and just an absolute blast around the auto-x WHICH you mothers from Jersey need to get to this year. I'm sure they'll have the sched up soon and yeah, I'll post it.

I think it's a good path to take. Most everything is bolt-on and can easily be changed, which is a good thing. Sometimes even the best plans don't go according to plan.

Finding deals always helps. Sounds like you're getting a mani built, who's doing it?

Fuel system is so critical. Depending on goals, that will determine where you go with it. For a street car, you can't get better than Denso pumps.... one or two of them... and definately get the thing rewired and ditch the stock white connector.

You're gonna have to bring both of them to the TNC meets when the weather turn's nice. I've gotta get down there but I've been so eff'ing swamped and the comp shoots are always on Tuesdays too... so it's tough

I was actually talking about the cupholders, the ones that I want are up around $180 each new so I've been scouring the boneyards for them but coming up empty. I dunno exactely what I've gonna do but I'll figure it out. Right now that whole thing just got bumped down a few notchs on the todo list becuase of the time I need to take off for a few weeks to go back to CA :suspect:

helghast7 03-11-2011 01:28 PM

My biggest problem with tracking the car is everytime I'm just about ready something breaks lmao! I've been wanting to go real bad to really see what my creation can do lol and how well I handle her

Lmao oh god bringing her to a tnc meet lol I'll wait till things get a little more serious before I do that

Yea it's a custom Manifold my buddy is making guy named tito, he builds manifolds for supras, I haven't seen it yet but 2 of my friends saw it and said it looked amazing, he should be done this week, I'll post up pics when I get it

Yes I wanted to get the denso supra pump, I was contemplating doing what you did and do a surge tank but I'm still planning that part out

Right now my biggest concern is the single setup, I'm almost positive my fuel system can handle like 10lbs from that turbo to at least get me by till my next big modification spree

tweiss3 03-12-2011 12:04 AM

I've been thinking (yes, that can be dangerous), does motec have a cruise control system available for it?

 Yeah, mine seems to do that before every track day. Drove me insane for 2 years. Hopin' NOT to have that problem this year.

Should definately try to make it up... especially for some of the FCSCC's events, and the CART one in Torrington... I missed Torrington last year but my buddy in a Miata... underpowered MIATA was hitting 70+!

From what I understand, FD tank + Supra TT pump + hyperion cover is a pretty kickass setup. No need to do the full custom fuel cell deal like I did...... even though I will when I do my FD

For the cost of it all... ~$200 for a pump and another $1-200 for injectors... I'd do that when you do the turbo so you can push the boost a little more cuz you know you're gonna want to a week after you get the 10lbs dialed in

pssshhhh. excuses excuses.... here's all you need to know

http://www.cartct.com/auto_schedule.shtml

Whenever it says Thompson Speedway, keep that day open and you and Abdul get yer asses to CT! I haven't driven that course, but I was talking to one of the CART officers and he told me the whole club really liked it and they were going to see about getting there at least twice. I guess they REALLY liked it and Thompson was accomodating. It should play in a little more to our cars strengths. They're not as nimble as some of the other cars but when they stretch their legs, watch the fuck out! If Rob was hitting 70 in his Miata... I should be in 4th gear at points :hurray:

Bigger club in CT....

South lot is where it's at!

Damn... these guys are starting early this year and I ain't got a car :( Sad Brian is sad

It will.... next time you talk to Dave, ask him about Gordons car at idle with his new injectors.

And go CJ rails, can't get anything better than those. I still need to get in touch with him and get som Mani's off to him so he can build a secondary rail for my Cosmo that's going in the FD.

Aight..... Landi owner aint coming by today.... and this aint getting it done... I'm heading out to get some Argon then hopefully crank out a good 12 hrs or work today

he still has to make the second wg port, clean it up and smooth it out, and weld on the flanges, then off it goes to get ceramic coated

Damn, that does look pretty good. Are you re-routing the WG back into the DP or is it gonna be in your face goodness?

Soooo I actually got a little work done today... imagine that! Started off by ripping into the interior to do a little reworking on the whole stock 12V socket that won't contact any charger whatsoever. First happened on the epic adventure... the fix was a quick stop at WalMart and a little re-wiring. It was originally mounted with a ZipTie or two... yeah... I wasn't digging that at all so I decided to grab a spare socket from my stock of Cherokee parts becuase it looks just so damn good

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299997908

Then I mounted it in the glovebox

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299997908

right next to the Ipod connection.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299997908

and then I decided to accessorize :D I got dual USB port adapter so my GoPro will never go dead again and I also got 12V adapter for the laptop so this whole 90minutes of battery power doesn't interfere with the long arduous tuning that will be going on in the very near future :hurray:

I also got back intouch with RedLineGoods and ordered this little gem to match the custom shifter boot and ebrake boot

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299998777

Now... take a good look at the stock S4 armrest with absolutely zero padding and what appears to be a bolt of some sort poking through.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299998777

Now... imagine sinking into this for 22 hrs straight.... mmmmmm...... no more sore elbow.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299998777

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep them or not. I may transfer them all to the grey interior'ed 'vert and gbet something a few shades darker for this mostly black interior..... thoughts??

I had to pull the stereo to get to the lines to drop the fuel cell...... so I decided to build a few things that I didn't get a chance to do back in December. Yeah.... these are going to be helpful... that's about 6k worth of oil in there

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1299998777

I actually did a lot more than that today.... but I'm tired... it's like 3 in morning....

thanks, yea im going to re-route it, as much as id love to keep it out, i like my ears way to much, and i do drive the car on the road fairly often, i might try and work out some sort of quick bolt on thing for the track to make it open

TitaniumTT 03-14-2011 08:02 AM

Nice.... I'm going to run one of those electric cutouts on the WG on my FD. Boost activated too becuase I'll be running one of those trim switchs again so it only opens to the atmosphere when it's 75% of max boost and up. Not quit sure how I'm going to do that yet, but that's how I want to run it.

Still got a lot of things to figure out with that car actually.... it would probably help if I could start working on it

Any places to look for cruise with an aftermarket standalone?

So I figured I'd finish the updates that I started. Got nothing done on the FC yesterday, yesterday was a landi day. Got the bulkhead back in, windshield in, and the harness laid out. It actually looks like a truck again and not the munster mobile tha it's been stuck as for the last 3 weeks:willy_nilly:

So for anyone that saw the FC on the Epic Road Adventure... they knew she was FILTHY..... I didn't know how filthy untill I started working on the rear. A few years back I bought an S5 rear bumper from Fritz Flynn who claimed it was in perfect condition, when it arrived both of the exhaust cutouts were burned... badly :banghead: So I spoke with my body guy and he kinda laughed at the thought of repairing burnt and melted plastic. I thought I'd give it a try. It lasted a year before it fell off. Oh well. On the list was replace the bumper, or go for the carbon Fibre exhaust guards to cover up the nastiness. Chibikougan gave me one HELL of a deal on a set of gaurds so I picked them up.

Here's what I started with..... not bad right?

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1300109322

Yeah well....... look at it from a different angle :willy_nilly:

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1300109322

I spent quite a long time washing, then compounding, then glazinging and finally waxing the rear bumper. I was pretty surprised to tell the truth, it came right back to life!

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1300109322

But you can see better what I'm talking about regarding the melting. Fritz Flynn.... bad seller!

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1300109322

Then I decided to move onto a few other parts.... namely everthing in the rear of the girl was taken apart and cleaned entirely... check out the film on the tails!

Two decent pics showing just how awefull the buildup was.... nasty

Now that's an ass! Spent quite a long time fiddling with the bumper trying to get it straight.... that's much better than it was. The Carbon Exhaust guards fit great.... next is to poish up the tips again and then we're done on this end.

Today I should be able to get the new overflow tank built and mounted, and the interior back together so I can take it apart in the next few weeks when I go to drop the 6-spd in, I'll need a new boot for the tranny tunnel... becuase that had to be trimmed to fit the new tranny, and of course drop those Cup-Holders in place if I can ever find them.... ok..... back to work I suppose

Any aftermkt cruise that works by itself, will work with a standalone. I was looking at the Rostra units. Buddy has one on an insight that I drove... I know... a part of me died inside when I got in that car let alone drive it.... such a gutless car... need to drop to 3rd to get up some hills :smilielol5: The thing worked well though....

vex 03-14-2011 09:45 AM

Nice find on those units. I may have to invest in one later in life.

tweiss3 03-14-2011 09:56 AM

Wow, those rostra units are the complete deal. So much potential for for future projects

TitaniumTT 03-14-2011 11:19 AM

Yup yup.... I thought about it for the FC.... too much to do though. Maybe next winter.... or maybe I should finish this years shit list which still has shit on it from last years shit list before I start a new shit list or add new shit to this continuing shit list of shit to do on this never ending piece of car.

tweiss3 03-14-2011 11:40 AM

Yea, for me, I like to make every car DDable, and for that cruise is important to me.

TitaniumTT 03-14-2011 12:29 PM

Meh, I've never owned a car with cruise.... although I did buy one once. I drove cross country twice without it... it's doable but it can be a nice option

tweiss3 03-14-2011 12:44 PM

Made the straight shot to DFW much easier. Also it really really really keeps me out of trouble

helghast7 03-14-2011 12:52 PM

See that's one thing I really love about the FD, they made them all pretty much the same so they all came with the same features, the fc it's a lot on luck of the find wen it comes to accessories

I actually had to replace my CC motor it took a dump on me one day last year, good thing everyone pulls them out and sells them for dirt cheap

Btw mini update, I've been informed my manifold is done :)

tweiss3 03-14-2011 12:56 PM

my FC has the cruise on it, and yes, i use it a ton

2gslse 03-14-2011 03:15 PM

Brian' when are you going back to Dave's? I just called and scheduled my FD to be re-tuned(its been a few years) on Apr 15th

Cruise gets me into trouble. WTF is there to do besides try to steer. I fear that cruise would just help me fall asleep...

I'm waiting for those guys to just set me up with a cot in their breast-feeding room

I actually just lost the rest of my weekdays off after this week until 5/2.... then I'll be really short on weekends off :banghead: I sent Dave an email yesterday about getting together to dick around with my 6-spd again either the 9th or the 16th and to sched a dyno playdate on the 23rd... So those are my plans. I know I won't be able to get there on the 15th though... sorry man... Anyone else going with you? Plans to stay in the area overnight?
