My5ABaby 03-21-2010 10:42 AM

Would anyone happen to have a split air pipe laying around? :D

My5ABaby 03-21-2010 02:48 PM

Anybody need a gray S4 dash? Trash comes Monday morning and I don't have room for it unless someone wants it.

BlackFD3S 03-21-2010 08:26 PM

I'm gonna try to make this meet. I just got a temp tag and some insurance put back on my FD.

Condition? Mine is a little jacked up from the sun. I may have a PW switch for you, I'll have to check storage tomorrow.

There's a few pimple thingies on the gauge hood, but otherwise it's good. All of the plastic is good except for 3 spots by the windshield. Two are where you screw the dash into the firewall (not really needed) and one is the left most clip to hold the defrost vent cover piece (the long piece under the windshield) on. You're in Antioch, right? I could run it by if you want and let you check it out.

Mine is riddled with sun damage "pimples" all over the gauge cluster hump and in front of the warning light surround. I'm in Smyrna off of hwy 24 exit 70, Almaville Rd.

Yep, tomorrow @ 6p.m., Toots on Broad

My5ABaby 03-22-2010 09:14 AM

I might actually have the 7 at the meet for once. It's actually better at transporting parts than my 6. Can't really fit much in the 6 as far as bigger parts.

FerociousP 03-22-2010 09:23 AM

I'll be there in the SA if I get the axles back in and get the brakes done an bled on Tuesday (taking the day off). The left wheel bearing was growling pretty bad so I'm glad I'm doing it... and I have tunes!

My5ABaby 03-22-2010 09:33 AM

79 SA has tunes and I don't. I really need to work on this whole no radio thing. I need something to drown out my trannys whining.

HVAC switch illumination ? ?

To all you 2nd gen owners, I've always been curious but forget to ask whenever we meet up. Do your selections on the switch unit (such as the "head", "feet", "defrost", etc.) illuminate? I cant see the damn things at night to make the selections so I have to use the dome light to differentiate them.

About 1/2 of mine work. I'm not sure if the lights are burned out or if the actual buttons don't work. I'll have to do some experimenting.

I have a center air vent for S5 (Same vent for coupe and vert I think?) but one of the horizontal pieces is broken off and missing. I'll bring it tomorrow it's yours if you want it.

The bottom row where you select temp lights up on mine... most of the time. The top row where you select which vents you want air at, the lights are all out. I tried replacing the bulb but no luck. It's a candidate for the soldering iron if I ever get around to pulling it back out again... such a PITA.

See you all tomorrow!

FC Zach 03-22-2010 10:28 PM

Good to know that the lights in mine worked at one point in time, forever I actually thought it was designed that way.

"I tried replacing the bulb but no luck. It's a candidate for the soldering iron if I ever get around to pulling it back out again... such a PITA."

Now I just have to find out why there not working, I'll get on this possibly in the morn.

"About 1/2 of mine work. I'm not sure if the lights are burned out or if the actual buttons don't work. I'll have to do some experimenting."

Thats how my clock is, it works when it want to and I'm not sure if its the idiot light display, the connection in the back, or both? ? ? not a big enough problem for me to care enough about so I ignore that little issue.

The idiot light cluster issue is caused by cold soldering... I bought a "reman" from Icemark because I was too lazy to fix it myself. I'd be willing to bet the logicon suffers from the same issue. The buttons on mine light up it's the back lighting that shows which button is which that is out on mine.

yep, it is the typical 2nd gen electrical issues. They all will have them at some point.

Very nice! I like! I'll give you a call later today.

lilring 03-25-2010 03:23 PM

Thanks for the Parts guys! I already put them on the FC! The meet was good and it was good to see all the cool cars.. That truck is simply amazing!

My5ABaby 03-25-2010 08:12 PM

Anybody have an N/A y-pipe I could buy from them? If yes, pm me please. :icon_tup:

I'm getting a header/presilencer via UPS probably tomorrow. I looked under my car today to make sure there's no problems and, of course, there is one. The retards at the exhaust shop that the car was taken to while it was getting rebuild put in a straight pipe. The problem being that they welded the straight pipe directly to the y-pipe (and on the other end the downpipe although that's not an issue) instead of welding on the old flange. Basically I have one piece of metal going from my exhaust manifold to my mufflers. :banghead:

lilring 03-31-2010 09:05 PM

well guys. I Crashed my loved Rx8 yesturday on 24/40 right near the Titans stadium. So far it has $8,200 worth of damage and the insruance company will look at it tomarrow to see if it is totalled. here are some pics for you guys. I crashed head first into the Cement barrier at 65 MPH. Im lucky enough to still be alive. I survied with only cuts, brusies, burns, broken finger, and a bloody nose that could possibly be fractured

djmtsu 03-31-2010 09:07 PM

That sucks!

I paid less than that for a running, not damaged RX-8!

Good luck, maybe you can get a manual this time ;)

My5ABaby 03-31-2010 09:19 PM

That sucks. Glad that you're basically ok. However, we demand the sad yet embarassing full story.

FC Zach 03-31-2010 10:03 PM

Sorry to hear that man. Glad to hear your not too banged up. Yeah, I'ld like to know how that happened too. That is no bueno!

wow, glad to see you walked away.
I wonder what the insurance company would let you buy it back for?
An automatic rx8 would be nice for the family car.

duval7 04-01-2010 06:38 AM

I see i missed the meet up again.:banghead: When will you guys be meeting again? I came out about a year ago to one at Fridays so I don't remember many of the guys i met. Will anyone be going to Import Alliance this year?

reddozen 04-01-2010 09:23 AM

I usually go to IA.
There probably won't be another meet till after Deals Gap as most of us are going to that.

fire85gslse 04-01-2010 01:52 PM

anyone need a good diesel truck?

http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/1671950684.html

lilring 04-02-2010 01:04 AM

I was on the highway and while i was switching lanes i hit an oil spot or something really slick which caused me to spin out at 65 mph and almost nailing an Infinty FX45 so I corrected it as best i could and over corrected and nailed the cement barrier. then I blacked out. I was told i bounced off the barrier and did another 360 and hit the barrier again. Both of my doors were shut and could not open. so i was helped out through the window. lucky that the windows were down. The keys are stuck in the ignition and it is still stuck in gear. the frame ended up being bent in a couple of places. even the back doors had some damage in the inside of them.

FC Zach 04-02-2010 01:14 AM

Fuckin A man, you have any pics of it?

lilring 04-03-2010 09:27 PM

theres the 2 pics on page 71.. I have all my pics on my facebook. feel free to add me... my face book is Nicholas Ring
