Business partner Alex ;) (How've you been? don't see ya around much.) When I got back from NC with my new FD still on the trailer, first thing he says is, "I know you're going to veto me, but this is the perfect race car candidate." I highly disagree.

Whizbang 03-31-2010 09:11 AM

I need an FD roller than i can have sit in the garage for me to stare at.

BigIslandSevens 03-31-2010 10:34 AM

My long term engine plans are a N/A 20B with ITB's. But that is at least 5 years away. Mean time it will be a REW based single or stock twins. I want around 300-400 RWHP out of the REW and 350-4 from the 20B when it is done. That in itself is a whole monster build on its own.

First thing to do is the frame rack. Then the treasure hunt is on for parts:D I am going to run mainly Time trials and have had a long burning desire to run the Targa New Foundland road rally. So A passenger seat will be built into the cage design.

And yeah , this is the perfect track canidate, I can buy a running street FD for less than it would cost to piece it back together.

yes!!

Whizbang 03-31-2010 11:40 AM

i would do the targe newfoundland if this was listed on the applicated

"$ 4995 + tax"

pikes peak is only like 1250 if you register really early.

helghast7 04-04-2010 08:03 PM

argh!!! darn Dave...im shitting bricks

any updates Brian?

TitaniumTT 04-04-2010 10:35 PM

I would say poor Dave, not darn Dave, saw him Wednesday I think?

Update, car still doesn't roll and after 3 redbulls, 2 Monster Java's, a pack of smokes and a 3 hour stint we got the LS in Alex's car, tranny, driveshaft and most of the wiring done in his car. Virtually all the wiring in my car is done in the interior. Very minor things to done from the firewall forward as far as wiring is concerned, still haven't put a damn thing on the car from the firewall forward. Re-wired basically the entire car. It's fucking sweet, just hope it works

Got my tranny, need to paint it and build a mount
Still need to build a fuel cell - those are the two big things. Other than that I need 2 days, one for the interior and to finish up the wiring, the other to do the mechanical, and somewhere in between that and finishing helping painting Alex's panels, build a fuel cell.

helghast7 04-04-2010 10:47 PM

well i look it in two ways, poor Dave because the inspectors are giving him hell over stupid bull crap, but with a touch of darn Dave for doing the move right before the big meet

if we had to look at a ratio its 99.9% poor/ .1% darn

its mostly me getting nervous as all hell, to the point were im debating wether to find a dyno i can rent for a day and have Dave tune 1 or 2 of us there lol

regardless, clocks ticking and the closer it gets the more i dread the thought of driving to NC on a base map

as for your car, whats your expected date of completion? or your still unsure?

did i ever mention that you should buy stock in energy drink companies? lol

TitaniumTT 04-05-2010 12:59 AM

Ya know, Dave was planning on attending DGRRX but had to cancel.

If you do decide to get a dyno for the day, lemme know, i may join. Right now I'm planning on just cruising around CT for a few nights and doing some on rd tuning to .78L... nice and safe.

As for completion date.. well, we're leaving on Thursday morning @ 6 am, so 5:47 she should be done

Whhen are you guys leaving/caravaning?

helghast7 04-05-2010 02:53 PM

yea i know, i talked to him about it, was looking forward to him coming along, its a bummer he cant make it

yea ill let you no if we do...im just kind of winging it...which i dont usually mind doing...but not for something like a tune

and we actually have two groups, first one wich is the bigger of the two is leaving wed night at about 9pm, second group is leaving thursday morning, but i dont no what time there leaving

TitaniumTT 04-05-2010 07:33 PM

I'm planning on stopping @ Dave's Thursday morning @ 8:30ish to try one more time to convince him.

Lemme know on the caravan/tuning, I'd love to know. Right now we're about 7 cars strong

Have you changed much with the car since the last tune? PFC right? Do you have the interface? We MIGHT be able to toy a little with it on the way down/when we get there if she's running a little lean. Fresh/tight motors tend to do that. Maybe a global change richening her up a little by bumping the fuel pressure is all you need to gbet into that overly safe zone.

There's such a difference between street/dyno tuning it's laughable, it really is. At least with the MoTeC the difference between street driving and a chassis dyno is big especially with boost control

helghast7 04-05-2010 09:42 PM

yea i have the pfc, and dave gave me a base map after i got the engine back to compensate for all the mods i did

im actually going on friday with benny to pick up his car, so im gona talk to him about deals and maybe have him adjust my tune a bit so i wont have to constantly drive like a sissy...even if it does kill me a little bit more then usual on gas lol, and have him give her the once over to make sure i didnt do anything dumb haha

as for the caravans, wednsday night is looking like 6-8 cars and thursday morning will probably be around 3-5 cars

and now that i think about it.....weres the stickers!?! lol lol

TitaniumTT 04-05-2010 10:40 PM

Friday you say...... I'll let you know Thursday night if I can head out with ya.... really doubt it though :cuss::icon_no2:

Lemme know about the Thursday caravan, would be pretty bitchin. Whoe's in the 3-5 on Thurs. Last I heard, Dennis was heading down on Wed. Do you know Omar, Benny, and Bancocks plans or should I just buzz 'em?

Depending on what mods you did, the map you had might be ok for cruise, but could be WAY off for higher load sites. It all depends on what ya did. Sucks about Dave's dyno, sucks having to wait months for parts, my original plan was to be on Dave's dyno on 4/3, That day has come and gone and I still don't have a roller. As scary as it is, the FD is closer to being assembled than the FC :smilielol5:

Ordered them today actually ;)

by the way...were are you sleeping anyways?

yea exactly, his instructions were for me to drive it partial throttle, 5k rpm max, mild boost....then change the oil at 500 miles and come in for a tune

well it obviously cant go like that now lol :) which is why im hoping he can at least adjust it so i can have a little more freedom

what sucks about the pfc is, without the tuning software, im limited to how much adjustments i can do with my map, i cant alter the curve i can only richen or lean it as a whole

you know...i think the funniest thing about all this is....we all swore we wouldnt cut it this close like last year...yet here we are again....a week and a day or 2 away...and things still arent done.. lmao just gotta laugh at that

A few forum members were kind enough to hook me up with a bed, or couch, or floor on thursday night. Friday and saturday we have a cabin at the villiage. Same crew that I was with last year for the most part. Complete with drunken slobs passing out and falling off couches and little aisans trying to sleep in the closet  I can't wait!!

If he can, he'll be able to do something on Friday for you, even if it's a global change just to keep it really safe. That's about where I'm at. I'll be popping the laptop at EVERY gas stop, I can see it now!

Yeah, I did that last year too, never again I swore. It's going to be even tighter this year too which is just BAD. I may actually have to take an extra day off from work next week just to make it down there. It's going to be TIGHT. I was hoping to have all these updates daily and I'm just not getting enough done.... I painted my tranny today and figured out my neutral safety switch.... WOW!!!! Fucker still doesn't roll, still don't have a rear speed signal, tranny mount... etc etc et... it's just bad.
