Do they make 185's in 18in diameter? I want to look cool in the RX-8.

:D

The red FC is one of the Risky Devil cars from Chi-town. If you are going to be drifting & you make no power then stretched tires make it easier to spin, but for the street it is just not a good idea. Hit a bump or pothole & say good buy to your tire, maybe even the wheel. Since most of the guys doing this, not just FC owners decide that having body panels that don't fit correctly, slammed on the ground body damage & usually mis matched paint if any at all I guess stretching the tires isn't going to hurt the looks of the car anymore. To each his own & good luck in however you build you car just don't claim that this is the right way of doing things, like some try to do. BTW the only thing I'm going to stretch & poke is what is between a woman's legs.

I agree flush is flush and full fender well looks better then one with excessive gaps. Tire, Wheel, and Fender should all be in a straight line. I ordered some 100 spokes for a buick that I had back in the day and the tires were stretched on them. yep, was sitting drug dealer style, which I do not recommend unless you enjoy attention from the boys in blue.

I did not like the look or the reliability of them. I hit a construction zone and bent the crap out of one of my wheels (inside and outside lip), bouncing me against the ceiling in the process. I would not recommend stretched tires on rims, it doesn't look right because it's not right.

When it's said and done, you live and learn. So if you would rather learn at your own expense then by all means go ahead.

I treat my tirez like condoms baby. Stretch, poke, flush, repeat.

Max777 07-25-2010 06:54 AM

wow.... so much hate.

So, as one man once said, "Why so serious?"

Do you think that everyone cares that much? People don't do it for performance, they're just out to have fun, do stuff that doesn't make sense, and live life. Why does it always have to be "you cant do this" you cant do that", etc? If you dont get it, dont do it, no one says YOU have to, right? Some people joy in the fact that others don't understand their cars, they know who they built it for, and they dont care... So if you don't have anything nice to say, then please shut the fuck up?

Thank you.

Good example of a legit post, thanks rotordad. No hate, no badmouthing, no bullshit. Just an honest opinion and commentary on the subject.

PS: Also, the pics you posted, wtf is that? That is not cool nor does it look good... please dont throw everyone else in with those cars you posted.

I think you need to take a look in the mirror...

Granted, we might not be talking about you, personally, but much of the contigent that you're defending are a bunch of morons.
You can check the Evil Forum if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Like I said before, it's a subjective thing.
Like with anything that has to do with STYLE, you're going to get negative comments.
Deal with it.
Only babies go crying wah-wah-wah about all the harsh words.

I don't like it when people push THEIR idea of what is "cool" or "good" onto me.
That's when I get annoyed.
I find it annoying when these dori boyz argue that running stretch is BETTER PERFORMANCE - BULLSHIT.
Get the picture?

You seem to have the most upset sounding post yet. One might think people were poking fun of your g/f. :001_005:

To have a good conversation over opinions, you are going to have some disagreement. If you believe that your opinion trumps all others, you need to keep in mind that everyone feels that way, and wars are started over such thinking. As another man once said, "Can't we all get along?".

RotorDad 07-25-2010 09:53 AM

The problem that I have with alot of these guys is not thier car, but the way they think. At the end of the day no matter how I feel it's thier car & it's up to them how to mod it. Now the trying to argue with me that thier set up is superior to mine with out having any idea of what they are talking about is simply annoying & it seems to happen more often than it should. I don't usually make bad comments on others cars unless they ask for it by talking shit or going overboard with negative comments on my cars which I seem to get alot from the drift guys. So all in all it's not the car or the trend, but the fools who follow such trends without knowing why & want to act like asses that make things a problem.

Yup, that's the biggest blood boiler for me regarding this subject too. These little fan boi fad followers who think that tires that don't fit, japtrash aero scraping the gnd, ziptied body parts, and suspensions tha don't move are all the ways of the future and they're on the cutting edge trying to push thier view on everyone else. I hate it.

I love when I call them all out on it and ask them to come to a track with a timer and all of a sudden the subject changes.

I'm of the thought that my opinion trumps all others when it's been PROVEN to be more than an opinion.... things like a 255/40/17 mounted on a 17x9 will give you more traction that an 195/40/17 mounted on a 17x12..... that's pretty common knowledge as far as I'm concerned yet they keep on rolling with thier whack ass setups being better for performance.

once again, speaking the truth, preaching to the choir for some, and to others, it's landing on deaf ears.

you obviously care since you're getting pissy over the fact we think it looks retarded...Nobody said YOU CAN'T DO THIS...it's more like: "Ha, that's stupid and they think they are the shit!"

amen brother...Can't say I like the fanbois...just waiting for the next racing fad to take over so they can move on (cuz that's what all the cool ppl will be doing). Sadly we're a few years away from that so we gotta put up with it. I'm just very happy to see that I'm not the only one who thinks it's stupid and doesn't want to see those kind of people here...let them populate the stanceworks, vwvortex, hondatech and rx7club forums.

sometimes a pic is worth a thousand words and that's pretty much where the stretch and poke and the retard camber is going...just wait and see. The Japanese people started it, the VW ppl copied it and soon it'll be the hottest import scene especially among the fad followers/drifters.

Did you even read all my posts? or did you only focus on the "hate?" what are your thoughts on posts #6 and 7

Kentetsu 07-26-2010 05:45 AM

This is right up there with wearing baggy pants that hand halfway down to your kneecaps. Such a desire to show everybody what kind of underwear you're sporting, and couldn't run (hell, they can't even walk without holding onto them) if your life depende on it.

I just can't relate to it man... And I agree, it's not the fact that they're doing it, it's the state of mind that makes one think they're actually cool for doing it.

RotorDad 07-26-2010 12:11 PM

I'm so glad that this trend is not all that common around me. I couldn't see me trying to have a decent conversation with the owner. No I'm not saying that all who fit in this category are asshats, but I wouldn't be suprised if they were. The sad thing is as with anything in life a select few mess things up for the majority, so to anyone who feel the need to stretch thier tires. "Do what you do, but don't be a dick about it"
