Australia = British rejects that were sent there because they couldn't function appropriately in society (i.e. criminals).= A historic fact.
New Zealand = Sheep fuckers=Ozzie's insult to kiwi's

It's everywhere.

Coke != all soft drinks.
NOS != nitrous oxide.

So it pushes back.

Kiwi's are not exempt from the brand name thing either, for example....

Adjustable Wench (USA)= Shifter (Aus) = Crescent (NZ)

Also, bandaids.

I laugh at the coke thing. It's a soda, or to be specific, the name of the brand. Not Coke or Pop lol.

I call them crescent wrenches too, hardly ever do I call them adjustable wrenches, but it seems like most others here do. I've never called them shifters though LOL.

And this whole time I thought we all spoke the same language LOL. Let's get England in here too and see how crazy it gets LOL.

I've never heard of them being called shifters either until I moved here to Australia.

A colleague recently said "pass me a sheefter" and I was like.....wtf?

Chilly bin = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooler

Mazdabater 09-19-2011 08:32 PM

It's a shifter get over it. And yanks don't even count, they call bonnets "hoods" and boots "trunks". Also have never heard people refer to all soft drinks as coke.

Yep, hoods and trunks, because that's what they are! Bonnets, boots? Shifters?! Sheesh.

LOL

You've never heard them called cokes because you're not in the US haha. I don't do that because it's ridiculous to me, but its' pretty common here. Either calling everything a Coke, or calling it a Pop. To me it's either a soda or Dr. Pepper or whatever brand it is. I always kid people here that call them cokes or pops.

EJayCe996 09-19-2011 11:32 PM

I never understood the pop terminology. I assume it is in reference to the sound a can makes when opened or maybe the old school pop tops....that's all my reasoning can come up with. Of course either one of those terms expands the number of things of what it could be referring to. Maybe I'll just start calling twist top sodas hissers or something and see if it catches on :lol:

Here is one that Ozzies and Kiwis DO agree on.

Fanny=Ass(USA) Fanny=Vagina(Australia+NZ)

Mazdabater 09-20-2011 04:37 AM

This is true, but us ozzies are tough, we don't call it a fanny we prefer the term ****.

Madaz 09-20-2011 05:10 AM

Tough? you mean Crass!

For our American friends info "Fanny" is a word used only by sheila's, NOT blokes.

Sheila=Girl Bloke=Guy

Mazdabater 09-20-2011 05:43 AM

I was talking shit then too most Aussies don't swear like that lol
