Haha Estevan. Mine isn't nearly as badass as yours, but it should run ok :)
:icon_tup: No worries man, hope to check out your RX-8 at DGRR 2014
. |
Sounds good man.
Very Nice!
Thanks Zach.
Figured I would share an exhaust clip...
Didn't sound bad. Have any luck with the intake issue yet?
Its been cold and wet here in STL so no go so far. Should have new plugs/wires/coil next week so that is when the real fun begins. Will probably ghetto compression check it too while I am at it.
Considering thats the Mazda standard of motor replacement. Change the plugs/coils. If that clears up the issue then all good. If not replace motor.
Haha yeah. I have a forum member lined up for a rebuild if thats the case. I still have a hard time believing its low compression considering how easy it starts and how well it drove. My past rx7 experience said low compression = PITA to start.
For some reason the Reni doesn't play like other rotaries. Usually hot start is the sure fire kicker. Getting the uprated starter, changing the plugs and coils like underwear, and running any oil other than 5w30 is the key to keeping them playing nice.
But your right normally hard starting sluggish throttle and hunting idle are the normal death notes. |
Well nowhere near a definitive test, but I let this car idle the other day for about 15-20 minutes. Then I shut it off, waited 5 minutes, and cranked her back up. Started almost as easy as initial startup. Previous owner stated Mazda two different times told him low compression and wanted $6k for a new motor since the mods voided the engine warranty.
Man what did he do to it?
No wonder it is blown! Reni's don't like turbos.
