Today the first coats were applied using a two-stage version of Mazda's K3 Sunbeam silver; the cars' original color. Aside from the places where I've removed undercoating, I've never actually seen original K3 paint. I extremely pleased so far!

That looks realy good man. I love how your engine bay turned out. Can't wait to see it riding with it's new weight up front and that air dam.... good progress.

That looks awesome, keep up the great work.....enjoying your build.

great work!

Very nice work....I just love the 80-79 body..
Perhaps you can take the front bumper, cut it in 1/2 then re-weld it to the mounts. I have done this in the past and made the 79-80 front nose look real good. a few before and after pics |

Thought I'd post this as well. It's an LCD touchscreen controller for the chassis wiring harness. On the right in the video is a 12v relay block that is controlled entirely by the touchscreen and that postage-stamp sized chip with the blue light on it. No laptop required!
Pretty proud of this thing so far. I need to finish my circuit design for the fuse/controller board, but all the artwork and programming are done. Won't be long now! |
Very cool Duck! Can't wait for more info! I assume the different modes are for on-the-fly fuel/timing map changes? Any trim adjustment feature in the works?

The next step is to get the CANbus controller working so I can display realtime data from the ECU (RPM, MAP, IAT, etc). After that, who knows! |

duck, you seriously need to make a few of those things and sell them.
edit: also, needs more star trek LCARS skin. |
I'm going to have to find a less expensive monitor if I want to make and sell them. The Lilliput touchscreen display was $300 just by itself. Spend that, and you're half-way to the cost of a digital dash. Not to mention, it's not readily customizable at this point. Changing the location and look of the buttons is a pain in the ass, although I have an idea of how I can fix that. If I can solve the cost and customization issues, I might build a few for sale.
I did make an LCARS skin but it was too futuristic to put into an 80's sports car. The simulated 12-segment LED seems more age-appropriate. |
Wow, thats awesome!

awesome project man, can wait to hear that 20b :)

That engine looks so sexy! Checking back here for sure!

I'm loving that touchscreen controller. I wish I was smart enough to make stuff like that lol.

Should have posted these a while ago.

So I designed a pair of offset ball-joints to correct the wheelbase after installing the 2nd gen crossmember. Here are some pics:

If anyone is interested, PM me. |
Great thread dude, love the dedication. I'm gonna do this to my FC someday.
