Mike, you made a good point and I called up Fuel Lab to ask if there was any internal difference between the -8 version and the -10 version. Internally they are the same, the ONLY difference is the fitting size.
So I think I'll actually end up going with a -8 version with male fittings on either side: http://www.3sx.com/store/comersus_vi...dProduct=28191 See if I can't work a military discount :suspect: |
If you are able to work up a discount order up two, and I'll pay ya back :)
PS Black please |
Ok, so a quick update:
The other weekend Mike and Bawb came down, we put the front stack together then. As it was alluded to earlier in the thread, we will also be revamping my fuel system for this. The basic run-down is this: We'll be completely pitching the 20 year old hard lines, all of them. We will run a -8 feed line with a FuelLab filter, then break apart to -6 engine bay lines in parallel, with a -6 return line. I'll probably (hopefully) snap a bunch of pictures while we are putting it in, then post up a separate DIY write-up thread. I was doing some research on parts needed and pricing at www.summitracing.com this morning, for now I'll put up the list of parts and prices. - 6x -8 hose ends, straight (Summit Racing® Hose Ends SUM-220890B) $41.70 - 10x -6 hose end, straight (Summit Racing SUM-220690B - Summit Racing® Hose Ends) $48.80 - -8 bulkhead fitting, 90deg Aeroquip Bulkhead Adapter Fittings FBM2794 $16.95 - -6 bulkhead fitting, 90deg Aeroquip Bulkhead Adapter Fittings FBM2793 $9.95 - -8 to dual -6 y-fitting (Summit Racing® Y-Fittings SUM-220108B) $26.95 - Fuel Filter (Fuel Lab, with -8 connectors) - 15’ -8 Hose Summit Racing® Stainless Steel Hose SUM-230815 $64.95 - 15’ -6 hose (return line) Summit Racing® Stainless Steel Hose SUM-230615 $57.95 - 10’ -6 hose (nylon) (Summit Racing® Braided Nylon Hose SUM-240610B) $59.95 I intentionally went slightly longer on the hosing than what I may end up using. My thinking is that it's much better to have it, and not need it, than need it and not have it. |
i'm pretty sure that type of hose will make the car smell like fuel. There is another kind (more expensive usually) that blocks the vapors from seeping.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll def check into it. |

Hahaha! Surprisingly mine never had the interior smelling of fuel. Bianca likes the smell of unburnt fuel, SSO it wouldn't be the end of the world if mine smelled, but I would still rather not have it.
|
Very nice build. What's the plan to keep the high compression rotors from detonating?
|
Plenty of water and meth.
|
Gotcha.
|
I've run 23psi on 9.4:1 rotors w/no water meth ;)
Also tuned a stocker twin turno w/9.7:1 rotors.... torque from that thing was insane! |
Hmmm. I'm running a boosted S4 N/A block and concerned about boosting over ~12psi with the stock turbo. Of course it's really inefficient there, but regardless. I've looked at a T04* but would be concerned with blowing the motor...

All hose except fot teflon lined will emit vapour. Trust me, i've been fighting it for the last three years. Tried ss hose, push-loc and the only hose that doesn't emit vapour is the teflon lined hose. its a bit more pricey but worth it and it last 10x longer.

yes, its ss braided on the outside and has only a teflon(ptfe) liner inside.
|
This is where i got my hose and fittings from. Very good price and hose. The only trcik with this stuff is where ever you buy the hose from make sure you use their fittings too cause it all varies by a lil and won't work with others.

Good looking out bro!!! |
If you wanna make your own hoses, I get all my shit from aircraftspruce.com it's not as dear as you think. Well its cheap compared to the price of shit over here in aus, maybe not in the states

Hopefully it doesn't smell too bad (compared to running a pig rich tune with a catless exhaust for several years) once it's all said and done, lol. Quote:
It looks like we will (hopefully) he having another go at my car this coming weekend :hurray: Primary (attainable) goal this weekend will be to get me old fuel system/lines out, and the new one in. Hopefully we'll be able to get that done and move the engine into the car, with her first start up and drive around though. The more the merrier!! Anybody that is in the Northern Va/DC area is welcome to pop in to have a look-see, help out, and or just chill (so long as you're not a jerk and/or creepy as shit, lol). Just give me a heads up and I can pass out directions  |

Yea Levi I am free this weekend if you need an extra hand.
|
That would be awesome if you can come help!! I have Brian and Whoopie coming down, you, Vlad (you might know him, I dunno) and me. I still need to see if MC (I think it's MC) wants to come.
Also, I may/should have a guy that lives up in Rockville stop by on Saturday, he'll be coming primarily to get some help, though we'll see if he wants to help out a little in exchange. |
Just PM your address and what time etc and I will be there with BAW bells on!
|
Sounds good. You're welcome to bring that camera of yours too =)
|
MMMMMmmm I will be so sure to bring my "big" lens......
|
I'm not certain yet but PM me an address and time and I will try to make it.
|
Bam! I've been trying to find a post by you so that I could PM you MC, lol.
You've got a PM inbound, apparently it *was* going to be a guys weekend, but it looks like Brian decided to bring his woman again at the last minute (which is good, as they can fetch us beer and cook yummy nomz). Timing wise, looking to start around noon, I'll kick you my address and such right now. |
Think the wife, kid and I will be making an appearance although I won't be much help since we have to go see Santa, lol... we'll probably get up there around noonish. I'll text when I'm nearby. I'll just put a hand on the engine and give it a blessing, lol..

Do you have a dremel that you could bring? I need to get some shitty injector hats out of my LIM so I can put the IDs in. |
No updates yet... you all must be pulling an all nighter.
It was great to meet you guys and sorry I had to rush out as soon as you got back from the parts store Levi, even though we left when we did, we were still not done with Santa until almost 7pm!!! Hopefully next time I see you that car will be running and we won't be able to wipe the smile from your face.... Good luck! Oh - and thank your wife again. Having the women there made it easy on my wife and daughter, lol... |

WTF? who is the rookie on the silicone gun?????????
*oil will crawl up and out the bolt threads !* Noob!!!!!! you are meant to go INSIDE the bolt holes LOL not outside. Leak city right there LOL. Rookie mistake that. Why are you using ghetto shit like that as well? for all the effort into the build you should at least lash out and get some proper sealant. Threebond 1215 is my recommended type, oh and make sure you go inside the bolt holes next time :) |
She's real, I've seen her... although I may have put TTT in the dog house when I was thinking it was the same girl he'd had for a while now (again, my bad B)...
But Brian - she's a sweetheart and my daughter loved her so you've got a keeper. I think we walked out of there leaving thoughts of children in all the women's minds though, so if anybody ends up a daddy in the next 9 months.. it's not my fault... |
It will be the postman or milk mans fault ;)
or local football teams fault LOL |

Thanks for coming out man! I'm sorry I had to dip out to the parts store shortly after you arrived. Don't worry though, there will be another engine build (continuation) date in the not to distant future  |
Sweet :hurray:
Those rotors look nice too btw. |
