Speaking of.... off the interwebs and back into the garage for you!!!!! I wanna see this FB damnit (and I can't believe I just said that) as I'm quite impressed with the work done so far....

List for the 8 hasn't changed...

Finish Exhaust
Finish stereo
Adjust rearview Camer
Auto-Close sunroof
ReTint the entire car... this entails dropping it off and opening my wallet... I don't have the patience for that
Plugs, wires, clean air filter
Replace OMP
Change oil
And detailing it

List for the Jeep
Install Battery
Change Oil

I <3 my Mopars

88turboii 03-27-2013 07:55 AM

1. make downpipe
2. paint wheels
3. replace stereo

11:46pm, off to do body work on the fenders..

Sephitrask 03-30-2013 10:20 PM

Clutch is done, now 750 mile of lame ass driving... I hate break in time..... Now to fix the exhaust, and change oil the day before and we are good!

Pete_89T2 03-31-2013 08:12 AM

Only thing left for me to do now is a complete detailing job just before I leave. Other than fixing a leaky trans output shaft seal, I didn't have any projects going on the FC this winter.

Yesterday I finished all of my usual "pre-DGRR inspections & preventive maintenance checklist" items. Dropped in a set of fresh plugs and did an oil & filter change, so the FC is ready to roll.

2gslse 03-31-2013 09:35 AM

Gotta pick the FB up this week but will be doing maint on the FD just in case its needed to go again.

muibubbles 04-03-2013 11:59 PM

THIS is suppose to be ready in 2 weeks. my gawd.

Spoke too soon!

This happened:

On the way to work, driver side power window works perfect. Leave to go home, window doesn't budge. Weird. Took the door panel off, checked the switch, all is good. Checked power to the motor, all is good. Pull the motor, plug it in, and it works! Great (fuck). Pulled the inner door panel and voila! The cable on the regulator got bound up somehow.

Now, let me tell you what a massive PAIN IN THE ASS it is to re-wrap the cable onto the pulley, then get it all squared away in the little plastic carrier thing. I needed 4 hands, but was on my own. With the sheer power of determination (and fading daylight) I finally got it all together correctly. Put the inner panel and motor back on, key switch on, and VICTORY!!!!

Next time I'll just buy another assembly. Looked it up, only like $50. Sheesh.

You're shittin me right? This same thing happened to my drivers side on the 8 on Monday..... Weird.

just taking the door apart is a pain in the ass... I hate interior panels, I always seems to break shit when I deal with them.... Park the car until DGRR so you dont break more stuff on it!! I am driving as little as possible until then...

Unfortunately I don't have that option right now. I gave my Speed3 to my mother-in-law to trade in on a new Avalon. She totaled her 2009 in November, and has been driving my father in laws Tundra, and got tired of that shit. So, I offered to sacrifice my Speed3 for her, IF they pay for a new engine in my Grandpa's old Camry (been sitting 2 years), so I can start to DD it.

Well, the Camry goes to a friends' shop this weekend for the heart transplant, and I have to DD the RX-8 until its ready.

I used to DD the 8, but I don't like to anymore. Not because I am worried about it or anything, but because I'm trying to keep it minty.

You have a choice!

Choose to find a shitbox. I keep finding them and selling them, or giving them to family members. Lol.

The Camry will stay though, it is a legacy car.

reddozen 04-10-2013 10:46 PM

my money is reserved for the new 7 or whatever they call it. 4 years to go....

That just plain sucks, don't think anyone would be stupid enough to joke about how your '8 looks at the moment.

Fortunately my FC is safe & sound in the garage and ready to roll.... in less than 24 hours I'll be on my way to DGRR! :driving:

Speed dimples. Like a golf ball.

wow... am I in the DGRR thread or BAW?

But yeah, I think this year we will need to have a "worst looking 8" competition this year. I have paint chips galore, to much touch up paint, jacked bumpers, etc. We are starting to sound like the rx7 crowd!

WE3RX7 04-17-2013 07:25 PM

The RX3 isn't ready so I'm bringing my RX8 too. It too has its share of road rash, bumper issues and paint flaws... BECAUSE RACE CAR, lol.

Yeah I have a rice piece or rash on my front bumper from debris at Daytona. I left that on as a battle scar.

Sh00bs 04-04-2016 05:51 AM

im still breaking my engine in. about 400 miles on the rebuild so far, did my first oil change and..... not a lot of oil came out. like 1.5 quarts :( -granted there's another quart or so in the fmoc and engine itself but still
soooo i think im just going to be dumping oil into the engine for all of the trip and worry about it when i get back home

If we weren't plasti-dipping mine... I think I would win....

Red car, blue fender, silver hood and rear bumper, clear coming off on front bumper, drivers door, and rear quarter...

EDIT... just noticed this is an ancient thread....
