Hoping the housings are still in good shape.

85rx-7gsl-se 12-05-2013 03:52 PM

You and me both. Thing ran so damn good I am keeping my fingers crossed.

TitaniumTT 12-05-2013 04:45 PM

With one bad pulse an apex seal it is not....
Nate.... You're gonna have my number in a few minutes.... Text me and we'll set up a time to chat if you would like...

Jack.... What the hell you talking about anything but 5W-30... That's all I run but Mobil1 because track and gas mileage....

JL1RX7 12-05-2013 04:56 PM

Brian if you shift through all the crap in the oil threads on 8 club most agree 5w20 will blow the engine. 5w30 or 10w30 are the two most common agreed upon usable oils. Me I have run 10w30 since I got back in 10 without any issues. Still strange not to pour the syrup of 20w50 in a NA.

85rx-7gsl-se 12-05-2013 04:59 PM

Just to clarify. I get one bounce on rotor 1 and 3 bounces on rotor 2.

 Ok.... any proof as to why they think this? I'm gonna go check... it might actually be 5W20 that I run... better go run

 The drawbacks to driving and foruming.... I thought I read missing one bounce... yeah... that would be apex seal... BUT... doesn't mean it's broke...

JL1RX7 12-05-2013 06:40 PM

Well some claim the oil is too "thin" and only used to meet EPA regs. The cite the rest of the world being recommended to use 5w30 or higher. It really is more keyboard conjecture than real science.

You also live in an area also known as Canada. Or close to it. To far north to need a thicker oil cause of higher ambient temperatures.

I have run 20w50 in my NA's for years change every 3kish and never had any issues. Even when I used to do 50K plus a year delivering pizza.

Took the 8 down the road for a quick rinse:

JL1RX7 01-13-2014 03:50 PM

Just evened out the the score with the dinosaurs.

TitaniumTT 01-13-2014 04:02 PM

85rx-7gsl-se 01-22-2014 09:24 PM

Early February.

rx7 vinnie 01-23-2014 10:18 AM

I anticipated parts be here by this weekend...... Boy was I wrong.

djmtsu 01-23-2014 11:16 AM

Vinnie- That injector spacer/vacuum block will be here tomorrow. Do you want to pick it up straight from the dealer (Nelson Mazda downtown), or from me?

rx7 vinnie 01-23-2014 11:58 AM

I don't get home from work till 6:30ish and by then parts department is closed so I'll just get it from you.

djmtsu 01-23-2014 12:20 PM

Word. I'll have them deliver it to me at work.

85rx-7gsl-se 03-18-2014 10:28 AM

Well the parts are on the way to de-turbo in the next week or two.

85rx-7gsl-se 04-11-2014 08:35 AM

Quick question: What do the two LIM vacuum ports normally go to? When the turbo was on there, they ran to the wastegate and BOV.

FerociousP 04-11-2014 08:46 AM

both of mine are capped. I do not believe they are used for anything other than a port for when you inject oil to bring compression up, haha

85rx-7gsl-se 04-11-2014 08:56 AM

Ok was just wondering. I think I may have a small vacuum leak somewhere. Got a small emmission leak code the other day.

FerociousP 04-11-2014 09:39 AM

usually that is more EVAP related (back of the car, not engine related)... depending on the code that typically won't make a car run different

They only use them on the S2 RX8's.

It may have to do with putting in gas while it is running lol
