The fitment is going to be super tight so it will have to be custom made, but yes rear access is a great idea

FC Zach 02-04-2015 01:49 PM

That is a great idea!

My one recommendation is a scatter shield if your going to see any high revs.

I wish man, the motor is a pretty decent street port so it will only see 8500 or 9k.

If you had ever seen what happens when a flywheel comes apart at 8500 to 9000 rpms you wouldn't dismiss it. With the engine that far back, you will be about at the level to get chopped if something goes wrong. Something to consider anyway.

almoststockfc 02-05-2015 07:04 AM

Well its not my shop, so i am at his mercy. Idk if i can come up with the cash i need for the fuel setup and tuning it before DGRR. It will be pushing it, we will see.

FerociousP 02-05-2015 11:04 PM

The TransAm, or what's left of it... is going to be one nuts land speed car. Coffee is the man.

Nice to see the progress Jeff. Keeps the updates coming!

almoststockfc 02-06-2015 08:18 AM

Im getting tons of stuff delivered today, i will be spending most of the day there tomorrow. Then maybe go see vinnie.

Ah... Yeah I get that..... Getting on towards DGRR the last few years I was sleeping either in the office or in the dyno room to get as much work done as possible

I don't recommend it

I thought you had all the fuel system and all the go fast bits from the FD?

When Bonneville and when is DGRR... 'nuff said ;)

almoststockfc 02-06-2015 10:49 AM

Yea i have all the lines, injectors, rails, regulator but i dont have the fuel cell or pump/pumps (maybe surge tank). Then I have to figure out how to mount it all.

TitaniumTT 02-06-2015 11:11 AM

Gotcha..... My suggestion is either a cell with a "black box" or a stockish tank with a Radium Auto surge tank mounted somewhere. They offer horizontal mount tanks that you may be able to squeeze under the bed somewhere.... or just fab everything like I did. Hindsight being what it is though I should've plasma'ed out an access hatch in the trunk of the FC to gain access to the surge tank area without having to drop the tank.

What ECU are you running?

almoststockfc 02-06-2015 11:21 AM

I was considering the radium engineering in tank surge tank. i like the simplicity of it rather than running lines everywhere and buying 100$ worth of -an fittings to make it all work. PS 1000. It has 3 tunes already from Cartmil but im sure its going to need some work.

TitaniumTT 02-06-2015 11:34 AM

In Tank Surge tank? WTF??? Did this guys just raid my build thread  Going to have to go look at this thing now....

Elliot also has some tanks, as well as a cell.... basically like what I built as well....

The nice thing about the helltechs is the Engine Protection Function.... so I would definitely be logging FPSI and using it as part of that strategy.

The other thing that I HIGHLY recommend with the helltechs is the FFE trigger kit with the Hall Effect sensor....

Trust me.... It's SOOOOO worth it.... helltechs have a lot of trouble with timing and the FFE kit is the only thing that will stabilize it somewhat. Just definitely get the Hall effect sensor.

Glenn went from a helltech to the new AEM on his punched LS Miata and most of the knock went away and he was able to add like 10* of timing in some areas. No new harness, just a new ECU. And that was using stock GM hall sensors. They've just never had stable timing and with a boosted rotary, that's REALLY important...

OUCH! You ever sat in one of these? It's a chore to get in and out of, I needed a shoehorn for the seat in Daniel's late model :Chevy_anim:. It doesn't have as severe of a bolster but is still a race seat, literally. .

JL1RX7 03-13-2015 10:55 PM

It's Darth Vader!

almoststockfc 03-14-2015 07:08 AM

I have the padded covers that go with them as well. They are surprisingly comfortable

Johnny_K 03-18-2015 07:33 PM

^ yea, Vin has them in his track car and they actually feel decent.

chibikougan 03-18-2015 09:13 PM

Just don't split yer crack or yer sack getting in.

almoststockfc 03-19-2015 07:16 AM

I just ordered the axles and fuel cell. Hopefully i can get to the shop this weekend to do a few things and to get measurements for the wheels. Its getting close to DGRR, im pretty sure that all the fab work wont be completed by then :o15: But shes coming together.

FerociousP 03-19-2015 10:55 AM

wow jeff... if it comes down to extra hands to make it there or not let me know... I'd recommend logging fuel pressure as well if you have the inputs. I can help with wiring, minor tuning stuff, etc

almoststockfc 03-19-2015 11:46 AM

Thanks bud i will definitely need help with the tuning, but if Coffey gets done it still has to go to Alabama and get the exhaust and intercooler made. Just not enough time:o10:

FerociousP 03-19-2015 12:44 PM

borrow a header and go NA to DGRR....better that than nothing, minimal tuning, and it will still be fast!
