If you book early you'll also get 20% off.

I just cant afford the price even with the discount for a room for me and my girl for a week. If my family comes in an rv my dad has offered to pay to rent one. Ill just have to worry about gas for my car and food.

There are a couple of camping places that I've seen down there, I'm sure there are more. I don't know the names of them, but one is just a few miles from NVNC on US 28. This is the road that goes from the NVNC to the Dragon. The other is below Fontana Lodge. Not sure if it is associated with Fontana or not. Hope this helps and didn't confuse you more.

Will you confirm this Phil? I booked on Saturday and was told I could get one night free OR 20% off, not both. Still a good deal though with the one night free.

Far as I know, 20% OFF plus bonus night if you book Friday and Saturday.

If you have issues, please ask for Chase Harper.

I'll also send him an email.

My5ABaby 11-16-2009 08:28 PM

They told me it was either/or at first and then I corrected them on what my understanding was and she seemed to agree. It may need double checked though.

I'll need to get this correct then. Thanks.

I've received an email stating that they have corrected the mistake.

Yes, spoke with Chase yesterday and he took care of the issue. So, to recap, you do get one night free if you book two nights AND you do get 20% off if you book before early December I believe. I also took your advice and went for the $7.50 breakfast on Saturday:)

Yes it is and the event is fantastic so it's a "win - win" all the way around:)

Viperx7 11-21-2009 05:15 PM

Made my reservations today. No problems with the discount or the "free" night. The one thing that got me was the $35 reservation processing fee. WTF?
See ya'll in April.

My5ABaby 11-24-2009 05:27 PM

I just called the lodge to finalize my reservation at one of the (apparently) privately owned cabins. They're telling me it's 20% off OR a free night ONLY on the properties owned by Nantahala (the lodge and some cabins). My impression was that it's 20% AND a free night anywhere...

Can someone clarify this for me?

Although I just found this which may clarify things but just wanting some definitive confirmation:
20% off if reservation is booked from now till 12/15
BONUS: one night free (Thursday or Sunday) if room is rented for both Fri and Sat nights

My confusion partially stems from where I had talked to Misty (?) a couple weeks ago and she said it was both for the cabin in question and quoted me a price that reflected the 20% and verbally confirmed it was also for Thursday. I was calling today to setup payment and now they're saying it's either/or only on properties owned by the village. :dunno:

Herblenny 11-24-2009 05:48 PM

^^OK... I've emailed the manager about this and I'll let you know soon as I hear back.

PHIL

My5ABaby 11-24-2009 07:49 PM

Cool. Thanks Phil!

djmtsu 11-25-2009 07:58 AM

That would suck if they didn't honor the 20% and free night.

Last time I rented a non-NV owned cabin I got the deal. Weird.

Herblenny 11-25-2009 08:37 AM

I'm still waiting to hear back.. But I don't see this being an issue. But who knows.

I will let you all know soon as I hear back. Since its TG weekend, I'm not sure if I will hear back today or monday. Either case, I'll let all of you know as soon as I find out.

PHIL

My5ABaby 11-25-2009 11:26 AM

Sounds good.

Herblenny 11-26-2009 08:14 AM

This is the message from the management.

We have over 30 owners, so it is taking a little time to communicate with them. Please give me until after Thanksgiving to verify and answer on the privately owned properties. We can definitely can add the free night in the resort owned cabins now.

Looks like they are trying to correct this.

Excellent, thanks Phil!

Not really...

Last email I received was 11 days ago and he was going to check with the individual owners of the cabins to check about the free night. They have 30+ owners so it would take some time.

SnkyDvl 12-07-2009 01:43 PM

I just got off the phone with Lucy at NVNC (who was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions.) She indicated that because some of the cabin properties are individually owned it is up to the owner to offer the free night. My guess is they have heard back from some of them. The particular cabin I just booked did offer the free night and of course since it is before December 15th we also got the 20% off offered by Nanatahala.

They have booked up all of the mountain suites I guess so I am glad I called and booked early enough.

Thanks Phil. I'll just call up there and check on my specific cabin.

I had a question concerning registration. For this event I want to bring my 84 because I think it would do awesome in a car show, but I can't guarantee that it'll be 100% by the event time. My fallback plan will be to bring my 04. Does registration apply to the individual, or to the car being driven?

To answer your question, the registration is individual person not the car. So, if you want to bring the 8 if 84 is not ready, than you could do that when the time comes.

FYI
I've also been asked by several people about bringing guests... Since this event is a private event held at private property, each person needs to register. Unfortunately if you are bringing an adult, they need to pay the registration fee. This allows me to know exactly how many people are coming and also they know the rules of the event. If you are bringing a child and they do not want a shirt, the registered person needs to sign a waiver in behave of them.

Again, I would like to emphasize that this is NOT a DRIVING event!! US129 / Tail of the Dragon is a public road and its your responsibility to follow state specific rules (TN and NC). But most importantly, this is a rotary gathering to meet fellow rotorheads!
