Yeah it did, and it sucks, been txt'ing with a bunch of folks down there all day. I'm sooooooo bummed and I thought about driving the jeep down but figured it was suicide. I went 46hrs striat, slept for 90 minutes and got back to work, 6 hrs later I called the car DOA and thought that if I attempted to drive 14 hrs, there's no way I would've made it. Oh well...... next year I guess. But next yr I'll be doing it all over again with the FD

:smilielol5: DUDE!!!! You have no idea.... over the course of a week I cleaned out the local CVS of the big cans so I started buying the medium ones in pairs. As of yesterday morning, those were a little low too  I'm immune to RedBull now. I'm going to need to go out and start scoring coke

It would've made for some comic moments.... like the time my pass side can went on and off 3 times. Or the time I lit my arm on fire..... or when I started dry humping the 6spd or the new interior leathers...

Brian, give me a call today. I'm gonna be leaving late tonight, get a couple hours on the road, sleep in my car and continue on in the morning. If you're able to get on the road by ~ 2am tonight you can probably pull in, wake me up and we'll caravan the rest of the way.

I couldn't take my bike down cause I'm waiting on parts so I'm renting a car.

Sorry Scott. What happened though? I sent you a txt and got nothing back. I should've said fuck the car and riden down with you instead. I still would've loved to have gone even without the car, but I waited too long to make the call and had zero energy left.

Ever sleep for 18 hrs? I did. Went to sleep ~4pm on friday and woke up a little after 10am Saturday..... WOW!

You have no idea Tyler. After I spent WAY too much time dicking around with the wiring, the TC, and the fuel cell (which I never finished either) I started working like a motherfucker. Worked ~40 hrs strait before I passed out.... literally curling up in the passenger seat. It was cold so I took my flannel lined car cover and wrapped myself in that for a little 6 hour nap before I went about 46 hrs strait as well. In the end there were a few little things that kicked my ass.
For example.... went to start the car for the first time and had no power to anything that I wired up. Factory shit was all fine but nothing I wired was working. WTF? So I started at the battery and worked forward. Oddly enough the main relay wasn't getting a turn on signal..... OK.... hit the schematic and found out that the IG2 circuit passes through the fuse blocks power window circuit. Odd... whatever... I added my own powerwindow circuit so I pulled the factory's fuse. Once I figured that out, popped a fuse in and all was well.
Then there were a few gauges not working properly. Traced that to a gnd that accidentally got wrapped into the front harness. Cool, gnd that and viola. Then she wouldn't start. Not surprising with all the changes that I made. Namely injectors and coils. Now, the MoTeC is just plain awesome. You can adjust the IJPU to suit different injectors. So, theoretically if you go from a 1000cc to a 2000cc injector, you can cut the IJPU in half, and the tuning won't change IFF the injectors are linear in thier delivery. I went with a set of ID725 and ID2000's up from the 750/1000 POS delphi basically propane injectors. I changed the IJPU to suit and she wouldn't even start. I toyed with the map slightly and got her to stumble but it hit me that the entire map was now going to be fucked becuase I was going from a very non-linear injector to a perfectly linear injector. If I post a screen shot of my map compared to a map of a car running ID's, you'll see what I mean.
Then I discovered a small fuel leak, didn't look to far into it because at this point it's like 2pm on Friday and I also found a fairly frozen FR brake caliper. It was just too much. What I should've done was focus more on my car and less on others at the end of March. Oh well, next year.... and I'm sure a bunch in between. Gives me more reason to have the FC shipped to CA for 7stock though ;)

Damnit B! Stop using my name when referencing other people with the same name! It's confusing!

Don't worry I'm in the same boat as you, though I guess this means you can have time for our "special" project ;)

SouthSideSlider 04-18-2010 10:35 AM

i'm slightly better off i wasn't even in denial that my car would be ready. if its ready for next years i'll be suprized.

WE3RX7 04-19-2010 06:57 AM

Better that you stayed home then drive all those hours on no sleep only to be stuck at the lodge and not enjoying the drive. Look forward to seeing it soon though! Get some pics up when you can, but get some sleep first!

djmtsu 04-19-2010 07:02 AM

That sucks balls! Well at least you'll have the FD there next year when i'm planning to be there. ;)

How many dudes can you fit in a FC? I think we should find out! I'm saying we can get 8 in there. 1 working gas, bake, clutch and shifting. 1 steering in your lap. 2 in passenger seat. And 2 stacked on top of each other side by side in the back.

Meh, I would've enjoyed the event without a doubt. You're right though, getting down there would've been sketchy at best. I was supposed to caravcan down with David from Nova Scotia but he wisely decided to leave before me. Alex bailed so I would've been driving it alone. I would've left around 6pm, gotten into the villiage around 8am. Instead I went to sleep around 4pm and woke up 18 hours later:icon_tup:

I'll get some pics up for sure. Right now I've got a few other priorities that need attention. I plan to get some work done to her this weekend and maybe by 5/1 have her up and running. We'll have to hook up at Daves again for that dyno coil torture test, and I'll prob be swinging through as I am going to attend Zoom-fest this year.

:smilielol5: Thanks man. I shot Bill a PM at some point saying that I wasn't gonna make it that night. THen all hell broke loose as well. I'm so bummed. I really hope this fall DGRR thing comes to fruition... I'll SOOOO be there. i have no plans to take that car down to nothing and toss her on a rotisserie between now and 2011 :D
Are there any other local/non-local event's you're planning on hitting up? Zoom fest perhaps?

:smilielol5: That's optimistic! I took on a few side jobs/restos/repairs over the summer so I don't know how much I'll be able to get accomplished on the FD. 2011 is pushing it, 2012 is more likely though.

I has no back, although the RX8 seats are pretty spacious ;) compfy enough to sleep in for 6 hours too

helghast7 04-19-2010 05:10 PM

got some great footage for you to check out, plus some crazy stories of things that happened, plus i still need to swing by to get some work done

AND..now that i think about it...i owe you guys some parts...perhaps when i go to get my work done i can sucker someone into driving a big truck to drop it all off (cough* cough* my dad or mom cough* cough*) and we still need to talk of an actual deal, perhaps through pms :suspect: lol

Yeah man, I'd love to see some footage and hear some stories. I'm still pretty pissed I missed the whole thing. I'm gonna make sure the FC is in tiptop shape before she goes into hibernation so all I have to do is change the plugs, oil and gas and rock and roll. I'll spend the winter working the FD instead.

At least I have Zoom-Fest to look forward to and that All Mazda meet at OCC.... and about 2-dozen auto-x's and a handful of trackdays. Still going to drive through the dragon on the way to Zoom-Fest.

Hit me up with what you need done and we'll figure everything out.

maybe... maybe... I usually keep the transvestite midget hookers tied up to the x-brace in the proper position ;)

2gslse 04-21-2010 07:42 PM

Hey Brian the rotary gods are pissed at you and since you spent half of the winter working on a V-8 powered 7 therefore there is no way they could allow you to make the deadline on your car. When are you going to Daves for tuning/torturing?
