TitaniumTT 04-11-2011 09:22 PM

VA huh??? Bring lots of booze and throw in a welder so I can mount Bills engine the right way ;)

No parts from the other B yet, nope. I'm gonna call him on Wednesday and just tell him to send the rotors for the rear so I can get started on my wheel speed sensors. I'm still hopefull that everything will get done in time but we'll see. MC and prop valve is mounted though :)

You should put up a webcam in the shop so we can keep an eye on you whenever we want to log in, DGRR re-build brought to you by Redbull

:smilielol5: I've been getting crap from alot of people for year and now it seems to be racheting up a notch.... I'll be there, the car is up in the air... and just to make things a little more certain, I've got a ringer flying in on Tuesday night :suspect:

I don't think the dragon will be much fun in the Jeep its a little bit high but you can pretend its a monster truck and crush a few mini's for us.

TitaniumTT 04-12-2011 04:21 PM

No need to pretend ;) Actually I was thinking about straigtening the dragon with the ole XJ, instead of making those 318 turns, just drive as a crow flies through the woods and shorten it to about 5 miles :smilielol5:

2gslse 04-12-2011 06:24 PM

No pics = didn't happen but I would like to see that

TitaniumTT 04-12-2011 06:43 PM

At this point I would like to just make it down there. You guys sill planning on being @ Daves on the 15th?

2gslse 04-12-2011 06:56 PM

I am still planning on it but I don't think Bill can make it. Do you have a fender roller for your car? I need to roll my fd's since I put the H&R springs on my SSR's rub under hard cornering so I need to do it before the dragon.

WE3RX7 04-12-2011 07:43 PM

Brian - drive your jeep down. I can fill it up with parts for the trip back :)

You know, you're not supposed to be doing any hard cornering on the dragon.... besides, it's not that hard to out run some whimpy little 184rwhp renni :biggrinjester:

Jeep is going down, FC won't be done.... Although I did call the other B today and got a VM msg, "Hi, you've reached thus and so, today is 4/12 and we'll be out of the shop all day working on customers custom brake kits." So I left him a lovey dovey msg and I pray that it's my shit he's working on

WE3RX7 04-12-2011 09:27 PM

Lol... I've yet to get him on the horn. Maybe this week I'll have some luck.

Regarding chasing wimpy renni's... I seem to recall a certain video with a certain FC trailing behind some renni powered rx8s and having a hard time sticking w/ them :)

Sorry your FC won't make it down though man. Next year will be a good year for FCs!

Yeah, that's what YOU said last year.... except next year FC won't mean first child for me.... at least I hope not

Yeah, it does suck pretty bad.... there's still hope, there's a slim chance... Before I bag it for the night I'll post some pics... I do have some updates.... the pic will tell all though

2gslse 04-13-2011 03:10 AM

Damn... I cant believe you are giving up already last year you was trying all the way up till we checked into the cabin.

tweiss3 04-13-2011 05:34 AM

I see a pattern here, what can he come up with next year to not accomplish and not make DGRR in the FC?

Well, 2 differnces, last year I had all the parts I needed on hand to get the damn thing finished, this year I don't. Also, last year I worked 46 hrs straight and got beat by wiring up a relay wrong and just didn't have the energy to make the 14 hr drive. This year I don't want that to happen, I've got a friend flying in so I need to be somewhat coherant to drive my truck down there because he doesn't drive stick

Paint, the car's getting repainted next winter.

tweiss3 04-13-2011 09:18 AM

He can't drive stick and he's your friend? I have one friend that can't drive stick and I harass him in front of his wife about his lack of manhood for not being able to drive stick. She laughs and encourages it.

speedjunkie 04-13-2011 09:23 AM

I have a friend that can't drive stick. He will never live that down.

Why does your car need to be painted? Your paintjob looks better than mine did when it rolled out of the paint shop (it looked like crap then and it still looks like crap haha).

I can attest to not having parts though. That's a bummer and there's nothing you can do about it.

Oh I give him shit all the time! He can drive it in an emergency, but I have also enacted a new rule for all my vehicles, no one drives them but me, and maybe 3 other people that I can think of. EVERY SINGLE TIME I lend out my vehicles something comes back broken. My dumbass brother broke my swing out tire carrier, old man ripped the shitknob out (then had to call me to ask how to open the fucking fuel door ) and a few weeks ago we took my truck to the airport and a friend drove it back. Now, picture this, I'm getting on a plane to fly to Cali to build a few cars, I know my 7 needs a ton of work when I get back, my mothers truck threw the code for the camshaft position sensor 2 days before I left and I get a call from my friend as I'm sitting down on the plane and the stewardesses are yelling at me to turn my phone off... he's in my truck... broken down on the side of the highway, in a tremendous amount of traffic.... apparently the truck just stalled out and wouldn't restart. I told him that the AAA card was in the glovebox if she didn't start, 100 mile towing for a 25 mile tow, leave me a msg as to what happened. I get off the plane in Cali and the msg says, "I dunno, it stalled out, I tried to start it twice and the 3rd time it caught and drive fine all the way home." She's been fine for a month now so I bust his ass about not being able to properly drive stick and flooding the girl out and just pissing her off in general becuase he can't work a clutch :smilielol5:

Thanks man! There are a few dings around the car, the paint is chipping on the bottom of the wheel wells in the rear for shit being flung up, there is a chip in the door, and apparently I didn't seal the plastic behind the rear wheel well enough and it absorbed some water and is starting to bubble. Little shit but there's enough little shit to make it a big deal for me

Tell me about it! Fucking blows!!! I've been doing everything I can but there's on;y so much I can do from a phone ya know? If I was closer I'd just drive down there, get my shit and finish it myself with a few local machine shops and just pay out the ass for it to get the damn thing done. I will say though, Todd B hooked me up with a waterjetter and it LITERALY took us longer to get the files to open than it took them to cut 6 custom wheels and ship them  He got the files Thursday night around 4, and by Friday @ 11 o'clock they were cut and ready to ship! I wish everyting went that smoothly

2gslse 04-13-2011 03:38 PM

What does the car NEED to have done not what Brian WANTS to have done? she looked to be ready to go back in Jan at Dave's. I wouldn't worry about killer brakes this time since its so late it looks like the dragon will be too crowded for good runs and the stock brakes on our cars is still pretty good, traction control isn't a need to have item either so you have a fresh engine, working turbos, the stock trans if the 6 spd isn't ready and the fuel cell made it cross-country what else could you possibly need?

How can someone you know not drive stick? You need to whip your friends into shape! Too bad I'm not on that side of the country, I'd be happy to help you drive down to Deals. Instead I'll be stuck in the shop as usual. :(

Seriously?? The thing was falling apart at Daves. THe turbo's were puked, coolant was leaking from one of the silicone hoses, and the miracle fuel cell lost a gasket and was seeping gas whenever I backed up a hill to park it with a full tank of gas. Oh.... and the brakes faded on me when I was on the Dragon on December.... december when it was like 30* out! And the traction control and the 6-spd, yeah, well those are just personal goals.... Been working on those things on and off for over a year now so I basically need/want those done this time around. FWIW my wheel speed triggers came in today so I can mount the fronts, but I need the rear brakes to get the rears done.

So now I've got a set of turbo's that (I PRAY) shipped out today and I'll have them on Friday, still have soooooooo much going on though and with hommie not being able to drive, I can't do the 46hr marathon that I did last year, and just to add insult to injury, it is most definately our busy season at work too so time off is few and far between sadly. I'll try, but expect to see me in a Jeep... too many parts that just aren't here yet and I don't want to do what I did last year which was get it running, then ignore all the other issues while I was "enjoying" the car.

I know, he's an embarrasment. Hell, even my 5'3" 105lb ex drove stick.... granted it was a phondu but still:beatdeadhorse5:

Does suck about the Miata... that or the FD would've been money at Deals this year. The best would've been bringing the Miata up to CT and blowing the minds of a bunch of the miata guys at the auto-x  Stuck in the shop is a good thing though, means things are still busy!

I think he caught wind that my FC will be completed by next DGRR so he'll keep pushing it off until the FD is done and just bring that down so he doesn't go head to head against me for best FC :toetap05:

WE3RX7 04-13-2011 09:30 PM

I do find it funny though... one guy sends you more parts than you needed, and others dont send you the stuff you need at all. Ain't working on cars fun!? There... I used "ain't" so I guess I ain't a yankee no mo.

If being a yankee was so great why don't you hear anyone talk about moving north when they retire?

Uh huh.... when that happens I'll just use the tremendous amount of torque in my FD to tow the FC down there :suspect:

Yup, it used to be half the fun of cars in general... this year is just pissing me off though. I've got enough time to do everything that I need to do, but I don't have the parts. Usually it's the complete opposite.

You're still a yank......

Because they don't want to die sooner becuase of the taxes, blue states, and cold.

RX SE7EN 04-14-2011 10:54 AM

Hey dude, is there anyway you can find a set of stock twins for temporary use if the BNR's don't come in?

TitaniumTT 04-14-2011 12:21 PM

Oh yeah, I could definately dig up a set, but I just got off the phone with Bryan, they're slated to be here tomorrow. That's only about 20% of the problem though; still require Brakes, tranny, d/s, interior and front bumper........ and cupholders

tweiss3 04-14-2011 12:22 PM

Whats wrong with the transmission? I can see the brakes

TitaniumTT 04-14-2011 05:36 PM

The selector grabbed two forks and missed the stopper so it over extended 2 hubs.... all the detent balls popped out, the springs are bent to shit, etc etc etc. It's an easy fix, but the tough part is trying to figure out how it happened. Once Dave figures that out, he can figure out how to make it NOT happen, then all will be well in the land of 6-spd goodness....

vex 04-14-2011 09:06 PM

What'd you use to wrap your harness? Raychem heat shrink? or something else?

TitaniumTT 04-14-2011 10:55 PM

Raychem DR-25 and some 4:1 heatshrink from the DR-25 to the connectors

Yeah, I don't know either. I beat the every living shit outta the trans ALLLLLL day long and it just loved it. Then driving like a little girl on the way home from the auto-x is where it happened. Oh well, what can ya do?
