Let me think... I wrecked my first 7 in December of '06, swapped to a roller during spring break of '07 to the summer, rebuild and turbo swap in winter '08, Drove it around in '09-'10, and now upgrading the ECU in '11. I seriously only need the heat shrink to get this car ready to tune... well not really, but basically.

TitaniumTT 04-23-2011 01:51 PM

Huh, so I guess you were running it around for the last year or so turbo'ed on the stocker TII ecu???

BTW - rear brakes are kinda sorta done... got some fab work to do to make the Lokar e-brake cable work, and of course I'm waiting on some crush washers that are supposed to be here Tuesday to make connections...... HOLLY CRAP are they fucking HUGE!!! I couldn't fit a **** hair between the caliper and the wheel if I wanted too :D

No... I was using an NA S4 RTek 2.1... which just wasn't cutting it at all. So I upgraded to a full stand alone.

TitaniumTT 04-23-2011 02:47 PM

Sooooo you were driving a turbo'ed car with an n/a ecu?

Oh, there will be pics.... gotta show them off somehow.... hey, check out my brakes!!! The car doesn't move under it's own power, they aren't bleed or even hooked up... but damn they look gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo d!!!!

vex 04-23-2011 03:13 PM

Yeah... pretty much.

Wake up at 6am on Friday and start riding this down while praying it doesn't rain.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...a/73a44dd4.jpg

I'm taking Thursday off as well but I have court in Hoboken so I wouldn't be able to get on the road till at least 10 which is a little later than I'd like so I'll just go Friday. I'm not sure on the route, I'll be following the GPS that'll be suction cupped to my gas tank.

psssshhhhh, my ass!

Soooooooooooo I didn't get as much done as I wanted to this weekend and it seems that I have a problem with my TCMux..... it's getting 8V, but not sending the req'ed 5V to the hall effect sensors. This concerns me..... sooooo gotta get on the phone with MoTeC tomorrow and try to figure that out, then I'm still waiting on some other parts to show up, I did prep the bumper so I can paint that tomorrow night. Worse comes to worst, I can try overnighting parts from J-pan.......

I've also got a rotor sticker on the 5gal Jerry can on the back of The Mighty XJ, so I'll at least be swiming in Rotary spirit :rolf:

TitaniumTT 04-24-2011 11:07 PM

:banghead:

Not this time, this time it's brakes...... and it's not the brake kit. THat's here, and on, both of them, I dug up a brand new stock master in case I can't use the other one I've got because the lines that I ordered haven't gotten here yet..... If it's not one thing it's another. it's pissing me off so much that I almost... ALMOST spent $600 on a hydaulic flaring tool so I can make my own SS hardlines for -3 as opposed to ordering all this crap and waiting, and waiting, and waiting and WAITING!!!!

I'll be in ~ 20:00 - 21:00 on Thursday.... damn man, when are you getting in?

Meh, I might as well show them off a little bit, seeing as how it's really the only way for people to see them......

Rears.....

Stock rear rotor on top of new rotor.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704535

You can see where the stock caliper sits in relation to the wheel

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704535

And here's the kit installed.... I'll get more pics up later... sleepy time... worky tomorrow..... ugh..

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704535

I couldn't fit a **** hair between the caliper and the wheel.... it just don't get any bigger than this!

Fronts....

Again, stock front rotor on top of new rotor.... I said DAYUM

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

Nope wait.... GAWD DAYAUM!!!!

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

Yes, that's right, 6-piston cali's..... what.... you;ve never heard of go big or go home? Or that my nickname is Dr. Overkill.... :willy_nilly:

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

Stock cali mounted.....

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

And the new setup..... yet again... you just can't get any bigger than that...... I've actually got to run a small spacer with my Work Wheels to clear the caliper. I should've gone with the Narrow Superlights.... but we thought we had the room. Oh well, the front coul've used a little spacing, just a touch, now I have a reason... or I could just go back to the rears.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1303704949

Now... lets hope all my parts show up tomorrow like they;re supposed too...

Mazdabater 04-25-2011 01:32 AM

I love the brakes. But I can't believe you were running drilled rotors? Were you planning on them cracking so u could justify the new brakes lol?

Hell no! That just makes me more tired. I need a midget stripper masochist to crack the whip :smilielol5:

2gslse 04-25-2011 06:52 PM

I still have my trusty 12A to put in the prissy little bitch then you won't need brakes just power through full throttle.:smilielol5:

WE3RX7 04-25-2011 07:19 PM

Brakes look good.... but where are mine, lol! Will we be able to make minor adjustments for clearance on different wheels, lol... I'm pretty sure my offset is better suited than your Works...

TitaniumTT 04-25-2011 07:31 PM

 I might have to take you up on that.... no efi to worry about.... when can I pick it up?

According to the measurements I took a while ago, my BBS's will clear with .125" There are also other cali's out there that would fit even better than mine.... plus you're talking about doing a 4 piston in the front and a slightly smaller rotor weren't you? I'm running a 13.25 x 1.25" rotor in the front.... soooo yeah.... The rear on the otherhand, judging by the braket.... you can't get any smaller than what's already there.

On a side note Bill, the included E-brake setup is a dream. Basically bolts in, the only thing you need to do is weld one piece to the factory E-brake cable and you're golden. We'll setup some dyno day in the future, or I'll come down for a race and show you. I was VERY worried about the e-brake setup and it turned out to be one of the easiest things that I've done thus far. I dind't even have to build a bracket :leaving:

Thursday morning its still in my car running and driving though waiting for me to build the single turbo cosmo beast to take its throne going for 400+ hp in a 2500lb FB.

Ps... no more slowtec ecu for you to keep screwing with may be a good thing. when you get done this time I'm gonna make a special trip to Ct. and WELD THE DAMN HOOD SHUT so you will leave it alone.

WE3RX7 04-25-2011 08:48 PM

Nah - 6 pistons up front, same as you... "member... you member?" (if you get the reference, I'll be amazed). I will need my kit sometime in june/july, lol... hopefully I'll have the other two wheels by then!

He actually remembered that you needed a kit for the rear, so you should be good to go. He also told me that he sold one to a guy in canada:07:

Don't get the reference... please enlighten....

Bullshit... I wish.... another night has gone by and I only got done 1/2 of what I wanted to, And to make matters worse, parts that were supposed to be here today didn't show up :banghead: Soooo fucking pissed off. Oh, and to make things from worse to worst... I've basically got from the time I get home tomorrow till 9:30 when I have to leave to pick up my buddy at the airport, then a few hrs on Wednesday night before I've got to leave to get to PA..... basically NOT happening. I won't make the same mistake I did last year though... sleeping the night before and getting plenty of rest so I can at least drive the XJ down......

Maybe he just didn't want to put the strain on his clutch towing the FB up some of those hills!
