I'll fix your wiper switches assuming you find me a switch that is rebuildable.

I've got to make sure I'm down there 2 days early too. I didn't spend nearly enough time hanging out and bullshitting outside the show, and spent too much time fixing cars, my own included.... silly wheel bearings

Hey, at least you did them at the dinner table so you could BS with us AND do your wheel bearings

BTW, did you see the spot on the table where the varnish got stripped off Sunday morning?

Thanks to you I now can't get those brakes off my mind

All in all though, I got just about everything accomplished for DGRRXI that I wanted.... but I gauruntee that there will be another laundry list in 7 months.... After all that's done, I'm going to redo the intake piping to match the BNR's inducer better. I think there's a few ponies to be had there :suspect:

So, you will be done before midnight tonight? LOL!

How are you doing man? I might have to pull a copy cat, and mimic your front bumper support :cheers2::biggthumpup:

WHY???? I we make more torque @ 2500rpm than that thing makes at full song? Seriously.... it wouldn't even be on the chart... and if it was, it would have to be in portrait moder, zoomed WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY the hell out

SAAAAAHHHHHWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTT!!!! Thanks man... lemme snag a b/u next time I'm @ Daves, send ya 2 JIC, mine was TOTALLY dead last time and I actually de-pinned the harness and ran them to a SPDT switch for h/l operation... I think that one is FUBAR.... maybe I'll send you 3, there's a black 'vert that might need one :suspect:

Those things are AWESOME! Did you see the size of the rotors! Were you out there when we were taking them apart? i know AJ came out in disbelief just to make sure that I actually brought a rotary

I've still got some tweaking to do with them though. Ordered some new wheel studs and spacers today, decided that they look better with that extra 5mm of clearance. What I need to do is start messing around with different compounds though, the Wilwood pads that are on there kinda blow and they dust like a MOTHER, need a little less bite and a lot less dust. I've got so much clamping power and so much leverage that I want to go with a less agressive pad and shift more of the bias towards the rear. I'm still cranking down on the Prop valve and I have yet to lock up the rears... kinda discouraging considering they are a 12.2" x.81" rotor out back.... yes, that is larger than most rotaries FRONT brakes and larger still than some rotaries UPGRADED FRONT brakes.... I am brake king, hear me...... squeel?

I would be if I wasn't working 12+ hrs a day... tomorrow is my first day off since I got back, and my last for another week.... and I'll be prepping a boat for the season, then working on the Landi, I GOTTA get that thing done. I did get a few parts orders in today though so that's a plus. I'm slated for Daves on Wednesday, we'll see what happens though....

I'm doing well, how bout you? Saw your ride in PA, what's the deal with that? Good luck man, it's a PITA to fab and plan to take the bumper on and off a dozen times. Worth it though. Getting the ends bent to fit will be kinda a bitch though..... BTW, I'm ordering plans for a tubing bender :reddevil:

Nothing big, as they stand right now I've got the stock tops that I died black, my fibergalss bottoms, and in the center is a black material that I've never been thrilled about. A few months ago I had a burn hole repaired in the drivers seat and I had to purchase an entire yard of the grey recaro material to fix it. I've got a LOT left over so i'm going to recover the center section in that. Then my upholsterer is going to get the scraps and build me some new shift boots, ebrake boots, and a heftily padded armrest cover out of the remaining material and some Mercedes black leather. So the black leather and the grey recaro material that is in the seats will ALL match PERFECTLY! Right now they're a little light for my taste. The boots/covers that I have now will live in the 'vert as that car has a grey interior and the same RX8 seats... or it will anyway... and they'll match that interior alot better.

project86 05-11-2011 09:39 PM

^^ oh ok. sounds like a good idea.. im gonna be reconsidering some interior options for mine as well when i start putting it all back in.

If you ride the red tide, you wash up on shore.

in other words, do it in the shower.

There's a list every year!

Touching yourself should be no. 1 on that list. :)

Yeah.... pretty much.... there was lube, a dining room table, a bunch of drunk guys.... and in the morning the varnish was stripped off..... and people took pics of me asleep on the pool table

Embedded was the word I was looking for.... tierd.... so very sleepy.... And most of them came out... there are a few chips though.... this is why that bumper gets repainted every damn year.... at least all the oil is finally off the windshield

The list never ends.... it just keeps getting recycled and added tooo and they things get done, then things break then things get added and wash rinse repeat :willy_nilly:

2gslse 05-12-2011 09:37 PM

OK wed. is just about over did you get to Dave's today?

TitaniumTT 05-12-2011 09:48 PM

Next Wednesday, the 18th.... and I think I'm going to have to puch it back a wee bit.... for a few reasons....

The boat that I was prepping today was a fucking stye!!! The shrinkwrap tore... or I should say the yard that stored the piece of poo tore the shrinkwrap and 6 month worth of shit flew in, mold, dirt, all kinds of nastiness... it's a miracle the thing is as clean as it is. Of course I realized this AFTER I slept in a little, lalligagged around, did some errands, touched myself, looked at the landi, played with my dogs THEN I uncovered the damn thing.... ugh... I wanted to get the landi's wiring done today as well and if the boat hadn't kicked my ass until 20:30... I probably would've.... bastard made me work for my money this year  So now I'm thinking I'll use Wednesday... the next day off.... yes that is technically 1 day off in 2 weeks.... to do the landi and I'll use the extra time to finish off the small list I have for the FC.

I need to get a hydaylic press as well and I'm going to have to pull the UIM to weld on some fittings, wait for lines to be made etc etc etc...... WHY DIDN"T YOU WELD MY HOOD SHUT!@!!!!!!!

Oh.... I'll be experimenting with brake pads as well  43 days till Limerock!!!!

vex 05-12-2011 10:00 PM

unfortunately I'm not. I'm too poor for that. Tuning will consist of me sitting in the car and hopping I get it drivable.

2gslse 05-13-2011 07:45 PM

I would get it running and driving but Dave is very reasonable and highly recommended

vex 05-13-2011 07:51 PM

I understand that. The issue is, I literally have only enough cash to get me to northern va and to my internship for the first two weeks. My car is no where near where I want it to be nor do I think any sane person would strap it to a dyno yet. Dave is just out of the question and I need the thing drivable yesterday.

TitaniumTT 05-13-2011 09:14 PM

It's not that Dave is reasonable, it's that HE CHARGES NO WHERE NEAR WHAT HE IS WORTH!!!!!!!

The man should be charging 4-8X what he does, for the amount of time he spends on each car.... it's ridiculous, it really is. Seriously T, get it running, make it driveable.... get it to where it's safe, then go to Dave. He'll take care of ya... shit, if you're lucky I'll even drive out for the event :biggthumpup:

RX7's make pisspoor dailies unless they're n/a and pretty bone stock... I've been saying this for years. People who want to drive modded 7's need some form of daily driving reliability.... I have my faithful Mighty XJ :grouphug:

Monkman33 05-13-2011 09:20 PM

I have two daily drivers. That way the likelihood of being stuck driving the 7 as a daily becomes negligible.

Man, I am doing good. Per Dave, the car should beready in a couple of weeks, I cant wait.

I hear you on the bumper, problem is that with the OEM one, its extremely difficult to mount two oil coolers, without having to cut all kind of stuff. I spent a lot of time fitting those oem fd coolers, and well, after all that work, I am not terribly happy with the results.

A tubing bender eh? A hydraulic bender? Man, you are one crazy dude :sifone: Cant say I dont envy you tho :icon_tup:

WE3RX7 05-14-2011 09:07 AM

Vex - you tuning in Culpeper this weekend? I'm around if you need some help getting it squared away.. I do agree w/ B and MC though, I would get it to Dave as soon as you can.. the man knows his shit and is well worth it.

vex 05-14-2011 10:49 AM

Unfortunately I'm not WE3. I'm in Blacksburg attempting to tune it. I'll be posting in my build thread in a bit about that.

Yup, hydraulic tubing bender, should open up a few more doors of the things that I can build. Also picking up a 12 ton press this week and a set of some sort of dies :suspect:

Doing any kind of dual oilcooler setup in an FC is going to be a PITA. Hell, even with my bumper it was a nightmare. So much of that ductin had to be cut away, THEN I had to add a ton of it to the top of the ducts to mate up with the oil coolers. Nightmare.... sorta. The one thing that I wish I had been able to do would've beed to find coolers that I could've tucked up against the wheel wells. The ducting would've been long, tight, and very effective..... and I would've been able to easily add in for brake ducting. I'm scratching my head on that one now but I have a few pretty sexy ideas in mind.

When Dave is done are you going to take the car back for a bit to breakin or just get straight on the dyno?

Would you be able to get it to CT?

when I woke up to FB bashing I had to come to their defense. Actually seeing was awesome, those brakes are pretty damn nice. When are you gonna take them off that piece of shit and put them on something that deserves, and needs, that kind of stopping power?

TitaniumTT 05-15-2011 08:39 PM

Like what? An FB? The car that has the same suspension as a 60's rustang.... I'll tell you what.... I'll give you ONE of my used pads... You can open the door and drag it on the grnd to stop or you can go Flinstone style with it, dealers choice.
