Oh, and it appears that the vehicle still needs a boost controller? I know you just installed the FPR, did you install a gauge as well? And, lastly, so that I'm not bogging the thread down with questions, could you elaborate on the fuel system? IOW, other than the supra pump, is the system stock or do you have larger supply and return lines, what size, what size primaries are you running, etc...?

-Reliability I was refering to was better gas mileage and something the family could fit in. I guess I should have said more practical. The RX-7 is a typical 20 yr old car that will have its "hiccups" but it is as reliable as any other FC out there. All depends on how you drive it I guess. I baby mine so it really hasn't had many issues. In fact the only issue I can think of was the water pump going bad. I drove it to work for 2 weeks putting about 600 miles on it and it never left me on the side of the road, just many gas gas stations. :)

- Suspension is stock with tociko blue shocks. Rides real nice and still can carve up the turns.

-That is the stock 20B intake elbow I think you are refering too that was modified and welded horribly, I agree. It works though.

-I think it would make an 8 hour drive, I would let it rest every 2 hours or so though. At highway speeds and the TII gearing, its turning some RPMs (4k at 80mph) so it does build up some heat. Especially with the A/C running.

-Still no boost controller, I've looked into buying one but it really wouldn't benifit me any. The car has enough power as it is for me.

-Fuel system: Supra fuel pump, stock location with stock lines, SX FPR, 1600 secondaries, stock 550 primaries and yes, there is a gauge under the hood for the FPR. It was originally inside the car but that isn't very smart to run fuel into the car.

Anymore questions feel free to ask away. I know there will be alot, I expect it with a car of this nature.

You made mention in many of your early posts about the reliable power of the car, but then later in the thread you said you are looking for something more reliable. I understand you are referencing the consistantancy of the power and the reliability of the vehicle are two different things and I know that you have had your hiccups with the car, but could you elaborate on that a little?

I didn't see it posted anywhere about the suspension, but I assume the suspension is stock? IIRC, you said the chassis has somewhere around 130k? And, for the love of the rotary, please remove that Greddy-style neck and send it to me so that I make you a nice one. Whoever welded that thing needs to never try and weld aluminum again (sorry man, I do this stuff for a living....you have such a nice setup and that thing is an eyesore).

Please don't take any of this as me bustin' balls here. I had already thought if I bought the car, I might fly down there and drive it back. Would you recommend me just bring a trailer? It would be about an 8 hour drive back. again, not trying to offend, just trying to make sure I know what I'd be getting. You have the car that I have wanted to build build for many years.

Other questions that have been asked:

- Yes all the interior works like it did from the factory. I left most of the stock harness attached so the wipers and A/C would work. Riding in the car, you wouldn't know that the car wasn't stock. Even the exhaust sounds quiet.

Seriously, thanks for the reply. I hope I didn't come across strongly. I would really like to purchase this, but I have to determine whether or not I can get off of the cash. Let me see what I can put together and I will contact you soon.

Even the factory retracting seat belts work? If so, that's crazy! If I don't get this car, someone should grab this up. I think very few truly understand what is involved with doing this swap. There's no way that this swap can be completed for this price, with these components...even if someone owned the perfect 2nd gen. This is a good deal!

jtbshaw 09-29-2008 12:13 PM

Oh, and the elbow, if you want to send that thing to me, I will make you one for cost. I will guarantee it will look tremendously better than that.

BLK FC3S 09-30-2008 05:07 AM

Funny you should mention the seat belts, I just went to the dealer yesterday to have new seat belts installed per the factory lifetime recall. They tried fighting it till I called mazda headquarters. They are ordering me the parts today.

So no, they don't work right now but yes, they will be working here shortly.

As far as the elbow goes, it would be hard to find another 20B elbow for you to modify for me. It really doesn't bother me much. I could just grind down the ugly welds and try to make it look smooth if I wanted too. Maybe a weekend job for me this weekend.

One thing I haven't mentioned is the cruise control is not hooked up. It would need a custom cable made from the controller to the TB. Otherwise it is all there intact. Also the ABS has been removed from the car. Just two things I was thinking about missing from the car to make it factory.
