Were you at DGRR this year with a white FD? Sounds like you have some really cools cars. Cool to see another older guy in the import scene.

sk8world 08-21-2008 11:51 PM

on the old guy note, we used to have another 3 rotor guy that spent the winters down here in AL. Dick Lambert. Have not heard his name around in a year or so. I think Dick is in his mid 60's. I heard he sold his CYM 3 rotor but still has his white drag FD.

Yeah that was me Vincent-I thought your car looked familiar.

Now about the "old guy" references; nobody that owns 6 RX-7's and 5 20-b motors can be old. Just think of me as a mature juvenile. Just ask my wife!

vincentrx7 08-22-2008 09:34 PM

Actually I'm Bobby....I live in Vincent. I recall you were just finishing the install and didn't have it running yet. I remember the BW turbo that was huge. One of the guys with you ended up buying an ignition amp from me while I was there. Planning on going to DGRR in '09? You should consider the Speed for Sale event in October. I'm planning on trailering my car down for that. Maybe I can get my wife to bite on the "mature juvenile" line. She just thinks it is a mid life crisis.....

Bobby,

Based upon my experience you can forget getting your wife to change her mind about your car hobby. My wife cannot see any intinsic value in it at all. Yes, that was Brian Gray that bought your amp-he is my local partner in crime and the one who told me about DGRR. What, and where is, the Speed for Sale event?

vincentrx7 08-23-2008 05:22 PM

Look on this forum in the vendor section for the vendor Speed For Sale. In that section is a thread on the event. It is in late October..... Check it out and let me know what you think. Looks like there are going to be some really fast cars there.

VincentRx7... Hi. Thought I'd see how civilized it might be over here. Nice to see your car. I am really thinking of a 20b East Coast meet.

Good to hear from you....How many RUNNING 20b's are on the east coast?

PortedRotorTuner 09-23-2008 09:09 AM

Very Nice 7.

Quite a few just in Florida. I can think of 5 just in central Florida but I'm sure there is alot more down near Miami. Deffinitely more here than the west coast.

Seems to be more and more interest in 3 rotor conversions these days.

BLK FC3S 10-02-2008 05:09 PM

Thats because the 4 rotor engine isn't available readily.

What turbo did you go with? Secondly what were the deciding factors that lead you to pick that turbo? Only reason i ask is, it seems like you dont see peak boost until 5700 rpm. Seems like that could likely be improved a great deal, depending of course, entirely on what your goals for the car are. Really nice looking build. You definitely have a 7 to be proud of.

vincentrx7 10-07-2008 08:46 PM

I have a PT74. It has a .96 or .98 A/R....funny that when I was building it people were commenting about having a turbo that is too small....The boost could be a little more responsive if I tweaked on the boost controller....I will say that the power comes on really smooth and as a result I don't have any traction problems. Even when I turn the boost up to 15 psi I stay hooked up in 2nd gear....Oh about how I picked the turbo. I didn't. I bought everything (engine, ECU,clutch, ignition, turbo,exhaust..etc.) as a package from a guy that had been collecting the parts to build his car. It was a deal I couldn't pass up and I ended up with what he picked out. I've been pretty happy with it to be honest...not sure I would do too much different. Thanks for the comments.

Your car looks great Bobby! Very clean subtle exterior... and the 20b under the hood. Look forward to seeing it at the SFS event here in a couple of weeks. Will you be running it on the road course or 1/4 mile? just spectating?
