No more rise in my japanese engine :)

Tonight I made a little keyway in the crank, which corresponds to the ones I did in the eccentric.

A male cutter, one must have ...

Important to buckle without moving it!
http://i815.photobucket.com/albums/z...d/IMAG0723.jpg

Finished setup.

work work

That did it! The track is 5.01 mm wide and 43.5 mm long.
Easy to forget compensation for the shaft shall be grinded then when you set the depth.

I love this thread. I bought a cheap mill and lathe a while back and taught myself in hopes of doing something like this one day. It's good to see how it really gets done though.

Tegheim 10-20-2011 01:24 PM

Just for fun... :)

One dream at time :)
First my dream, then yours :)

Tegheim 10-27-2011 02:45 PM

Tegheim 10-28-2011 12:03 AM

What what? :) Wacka wacka?!

My5ABaby 10-28-2011 07:46 AM

What material did you order?

Force13b 10-28-2011 11:38 AM

Tegheim if you don't finish this project (I don't care if it's 5-10yrs from now) i will hunt you down.

need RX7 10-28-2011 12:54 PM

I like where this is going.

Tegheim 11-02-2011 02:36 PM

Got an big piece yesterday...

djmtsu 11-03-2011 08:08 AM

Are you friggin milling your own rotors??

Holy shit!

FC Zach 11-03-2011 08:56 AM

Wow!

Raksj04 11-03-2011 09:05 AM

how much will they weigh?

Tegheim 11-03-2011 12:59 PM

I aim at less than 3800-3900grams complete with bearing and gear. It's maybe not very light, but it's my own, and I could easy do some changes and do one more if somethings goes bad.

Aluminium would be very nice, but I know to little about it, and don't wanna take the chance :)

Raksj04 11-03-2011 01:13 PM

well heavier rotors may give you more torque. right?

My5ABaby 11-03-2011 02:30 PM

That's actually pretty light.

S4 are ~4500
S5 are ~4300

They would take more power and time to spin up though, so any torque gains would be lost.

I would say its very light! But FWIW shouldn´t we talk about moment of inertia? Surely its big difference when the weight is in the middle or on the periphery of rotor? Maybe its not applicable in this example:blush5:

No, not even remotely. If anything than it would be less torque.

Its just combustion pressure, rotor face area and effective distance covered during expansion what creates torque minus mechanical losses.

Tegheim 11-04-2011 11:56 AM

Today the E-shaft was left to it first grinding-session. Feels strange :)

I should add that I am not entirely alone in this with billet rotors.
My friend Gustav and I often get yelled at for talking more with each other, then our partner's when we are sitting with headsets and drawing SolidWorks at night:)
We have our visions. I want my 4rotor, and Gustav wants his "tired" 770hk 13B will go a bit better:)

djmtsu 11-04-2011 12:16 PM

Ok, now I have seen it all.

You are basically building your own, from scratch, 4 rotor engine.

Next time my parents go to Sweden to visit family, I'm going with them to come check out all this madness.

Raksj04 11-04-2011 12:36 PM

I you going to use a oil pan or are you going to go dry sump?

Whizbang 11-05-2011 12:25 AM

this project is far more hardcore than i.

Tegheim 11-05-2011 06:22 AM

It's gonna be a dry-sump. I'm about to design my own dry-sump-cover at the moment. Will try to do as Mazda did and keep the pump into the front cover instead of havin a external pump with belts. More about that later on :)

Tegheim 11-06-2011 01:08 PM

Added the primary-port. If you don't want to PP...

Can't wait for updates Tegheim!

Tegheim 11-07-2011 03:52 PM

A little useless update :)

This is the start of my 4 billet-rotors :)

That is Awesome!

RE: Image of center iron

Is that going to be a multi-piece iron?

Tegheim 11-07-2011 04:43 PM

Yes, the plates/irons are multi-piece-design. More info will come later :)

My5ABaby 11-07-2011 05:40 PM
