i found a web site awhile back that said what the setup was but i cant find it any where.
if they used all stock parts i could get them from my step dad's work dirt cheap. i guess iam going to have to start a thread to try t get info. if i can get list of all the parts i mite not sell my sa. ive been up in the air about it. |
i dont know if its been mentioned but the ford and volvo 2.3L tubro motors.
also a BMW V12 perhaps. |
how about a turbo ford sohc 2.3 block (turbo capri and turbo gt mustang and svo mustang) with the volvo dohc head swap. you get the better block and a better head. the na guys of stangnet who have done this make the same power as the stock 2.3 turbo motor from ford. doing the head swap adds 100hp na. on a turbo block running stock boost but with a custome tune, just the head added close to 200hp. bassicaly its not that hard to do.just run a one extanal oil line and have a little block welded to the head.
|
there is a kit for the 2.3 turbo into the FC from Granny's.
im considering doing something with an FE3 |
wish they made it for the fb. but dont.but dont they make one for a 5.0? if so it will work just need the motor mounts from a capri or mustang gt turbo not a svo.
|
ooo tricky tricky.
|
what? lol
|
i dig odd compatibility.
|
yeah me too lol. ive said this before but me and a buddy own a 84 rs turbo capri. we are still rebuilding the car, but we fully rebuilt and made the stock 2.3 turbo motor better. new sohc head, custom cam, added straps for the main bearings. i fabed a custom turbo mani and made a custom upper intake mani for a 70 mm tb.bigger t3/t4 25 psi. raised the redline on the motor. list goes on. we got just the motor dynoed and it made around 450 ish. theres a few sohc 2.3 motors making close to 600.
we have a spare turbo 2.3 block and the volvo head. all the work need to mount the head is done. welded a block of aluminum to the back of the head, and gasket matched the head and block. some of the oil and water passages are slightly off. and ran the one external oil line needed. othere then that the block is empty no crank ect ect. where going to run the car for a few years with the stock motor then swap in the forvo motor lol. |
i used to have a 2.3T engine at my shop in ohio laying around. Sold it to Peejay in Cleveland which should wind up in his rallycross car eventually.
what volvo has the head? |
B234F
heres some links on how to do it first one is pretty well detailed. http://www.geocities.com/_nitro_/vol...volvoswap.html http://www.ndperformance.com/project..._p2/index.html http://www.merkurtech.com/merkurtech...es/item045.php |
i need to get one of those for mizuki(my 745ti biuld).
how about the 2.4 and 2.3L inline 5 tubro motors from the 850s. if i dont do a V12 in izuyme i would like to bould a B544FT motor for it and throw a T5 or a t2 tranni behind it. |
FE3 rods compared to SR20 rods.

that's your 3rd post in this thread with that picture in it. FE3 rods look stout. We get it.

I've thought about an RB26 or 2JZ swap (both have been done) but I always think... why? 2jz's and especially RB26's are fantastic engines but so are rotors, I doubt I'll swap anything of mine.
and if I do, it'll be for an LSX, just because I've never owned a fast V8 car and it's hard to argue with LSX performance. 2.3T's work well, a friend of mine has a 1984 SVO that's not dramatically far from stock and runs deep into the 11's. It's got a completely stock shortblock, and stock (ported) head. |
my capri stock block(20 over) and stock turbo head. head made close to 450 on the engine dyno, at 25 psi and with out a inter cooler. we cant wait till we finish the car.
|
ford 4.0 from a mustang or ranger 210 hp stock. you can put on a supercarger and a litte more stuff and get 350 to 400 hp
but price will be there to but thay are ever where |
A Mazda KL-series V6 would be sweet in an FC. This guy on another forum I'm on is big into Probes and randomly suggested it one day. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it.

I got my hands on a nice Mercedes turbo diesel 300dT with plans to put it into an old fc I have but I fell in love with the Mercedes and ended up swaping it to veggie oil |
i always loved the 300 Turbodiesel Wagons.

For power & reliability: Toyota JZ series engines (I6) OR Toyota UZ series (V8)...do some research on those engines and they'll blow your mind!! Toyota literally made 900 engines before they were satisfied w/the 1UZ (4.0L, 6 bolt mains) AND BMW used the design of that engine as blueprint for their V10!
|
sidenote: I personally know a guy that is swapping a 1UZ into his ae86 Corolla...sooo yummy!!
|
i would just leave the rotary in there
