i'm pretty sure that type of hose will make the car smell like fuel. There is another kind (more expensive usually) that blocks the vapors from seeping.

Oh? Even if the lines are designed for fuel?

Thanks for the heads up! I'll def check into it.

The better question is, "RX-7s can smell like more fuel than they already do short of pouring gasoline on the interior?"

Fendamonky 12-11-2012 10:32 AM

Hahaha! Surprisingly mine never had the interior smelling of fuel. Bianca likes the smell of unburnt fuel, SSO it wouldn't be the end of the world if mine smelled, but I would still rather not have it.

Very nice build. What's the plan to keep the high compression rotors from detonating?

Fendamonky 12-11-2012 03:53 PM

Plenty of water and meth.

My5ABaby 12-11-2012 04:07 PM

Gotcha.

TitaniumTT 12-11-2012 04:12 PM

I've run 23psi on 9.4:1 rotors w/no water meth ;)
Also tuned a stocker twin turno w/9.7:1 rotors.... torque from that thing was insane!

My5ABaby 12-11-2012 05:43 PM

Hmmm. I'm running a boosted S4 N/A block and concerned about boosting over ~12psi with the stock turbo. Of course it's really inefficient there, but regardless. I've looked at a T04* but would be concerned with blowing the motor...

All hose except fot teflon lined will emit vapour. Trust me, i've been fighting it for the last three years. Tried ss hose, push-loc and the only hose that doesn't emit vapour is the teflon lined hose. its a bit more pricey but worth it and it last 10x longer.

Are you talking about the PTFE Hoses?

rxspeed7 12-11-2012 09:30 PM

yes, its ss braided on the outside and has only a teflon(ptfe) liner inside.

This is where i got my hose and fittings from. Very good price and hose. The only trcik with this stuff is where ever you buy the hose from make sure you use their fittings too cause it all varies by a lil and won't work with others.

Gotcha, Summit has PTFE lines for just about the same pricing as the site you listed. I'm gunna place my order over the phone, so when I do I'll just ask them to make sure that all the hose ends are the ones needed for the teflon lines, in case there is a subtle difference between their ends for standard AN and teflon lines.

Good looking out bro!!!

If you wanna make your own hoses, I get all my shit from aircraftspruce.com it's not as dear as you think. Well its cheap compared to the price of shit over here in aus, maybe not in the states

So... I dropped the order for my lines and fittings tonight. Honestly I ended up just going with the AN lines. The difference in cost between PTFE line and AN line was actually very small. The fittings however.... The PTFE fittings were almost twice as expensive as the AN fittings. I was already dropping just over $400 (including rushed shipping) for what I got, switching to the teflon lines would have cost me easily $100 more. $400 is too much for new lines as it is, over $500 would be WAAAYYYY too much! lol.

Hopefully it doesn't smell too bad (compared to running a pig rich tune with a catless exhaust for several years) once it's all said and done, lol.

I looked around there but I wasn't really able to find what I needed in my (relatively) quick search. Thanks for the suggestion though!!

It looks like we will (hopefully) he having another go at my car this coming weekend :hurray: Primary (attainable) goal this weekend will be to get me old fuel system/lines out, and the new one in. Hopefully we'll be able to get that done and move the engine into the car, with her first start up and drive around though.

The more the merrier!! Anybody that is in the Northern Va/DC area is welcome to pop in to have a look-see, help out, and or just chill (so long as you're not a jerk and/or creepy as shit, lol). Just give me a heads up and I can pass out directions
