Had to get off throttle in 4th as it was drifting towards the wall..

Holy cow! Have a video of that one?

sk8world 06-02-2009 11:44 PM

Phil got 2 passes for me. First is the 10.67 and the second is better video but an 11.1 pass. Wish you could here me getting on and off the throttle in 4th as it would show it had more in that pass.

All I have is an 1/8 mile time. I ran an 8.9@77 with a 2.1 60'. I used the time calculator on here and it said 13.9@95. Now for the car details.....

1983 LE
Street ported 13b repu(supposedly)
Dual webber carbs
Racing beat header and pre slilencer. After the silencer it goes into a stock 1st gen muffler.
The car has been stripped for autocross. I think it weighs just under 2200lbs.
Stock transmission
Stock GSL limited slip with 3.91's
Stock 13" wheels with 7 year old proxie road race compound tires.

That is what was done when I made my pass. Since then I recently put in GSL-SE gears, which are 4.08 I think? I noticed a difference but have not been to the track yet.

sk8world 07-20-2009 07:02 PM

congrats on a nice pass for a NA car! About time this thread got bumped! I was wondering if everyone quite racing....

jbrozak 07-21-2009 07:50 AM

Im getting ready to put a fuel cell in it soon. Not sure how much weight I will save getting rid of the 16.5 steel for a 12 plastic, but every pound counts when the car is already this light. That with the new gears, Im hoping to get at least an 8.80 out of it. Then I would hope for sure that I could break into the 13's NA in the 1/4. The funny thing is, this car is more built for autox then drag. It has tokico illuminas, eibach springs, aftermarket sway bars, and strut tower brace.

sk8world 07-22-2009 09:31 PM

work on that 60 footer. Thats 99% of 1/8th mile racing. Whatever you can take off the 2.1 will also come off the big end, double off in the 1/4 mile. So you pull a 1.7 on the same pass as before it would yield a 8.5 1/8th and a 13.1 on the 1/4.

jbrozak 07-23-2009 12:03 AM

What do you suggest for help in hooking? The car is mainly set up for autocross and I like it that way. Im not looking to change out the rear end or rear suspension. I suppose the easy way is to run some small slicks or drag radials?

sk8world 07-23-2009 09:04 AM

if you have a solid rear you could do the radials but I would go with the bias ply "ET STREETS" ......

sk8world 08-03-2009 03:56 PM

I little fun from last weekend. Didnt go any better than 6.9's but I was consistant! Still lots of wheels spin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwlsvRNZp_k

sk8world 08-23-2009 07:35 PM

So does anyone drag race anymore? Maybe we should delete this thread!

estevan62274 08-26-2009 09:29 AM

^ I'm going tonight to run.
The temps down here have cooled off some.
Hoping for a low, low 12 or high 11 :driving:

Gonna try launching the car alittle harder, Hope i dont break anything.

estevan62274 08-26-2009 10:03 PM

Best time of the night was
12.3@113. Not bad for 12psi

I need to shift better/faster
I know she has a 11.9 in her at this current boost

Four rx7s were there and all but mine were V8's
My poor rotary was all alone

sk8world 08-26-2009 10:25 PM

Glad to see you racing it. Get that 11. If you brake something you can fix it, right.... Just drive it like you stole it

I might try and make a pass or 2 Friday night. 1/8th mile thu...

estevan62274 08-27-2009 07:07 PM

I'm going for broke, gonna turn it up to 20psi w/race gas.
Pretty sure the tune is safe for that. I just don't know about the rear.:leaving:

sk8world 10-19-2009 11:41 PM

Sorry Don.. I am a bad influence! I am just glad I didnt make that pass in your car. I would have felt very bad. I still think the big factor was not loading your driveline. I started a thread in the club forum (drag section) discussing this very thing. I had a long discussion with Ari a month or so ago on this. Ari agreed that most of the issues or wrong combos and not loading it before the launch. You know I am 99% sure Noah is still on oem diff and he was pulling the front wheels. But his is an auto and on transbrake so he has load before he launches also. But that goes to show that the shock to the driveline is a huge factor. Obviously running upgraded axels, kaz lsd or cobra 8.8 irs sloves the problem but that may just be a blanket for the real problem...

Either way you fianlly made a 7's pass so that must feel good. You know you were out running the 2 Z06's and the super charged (550rwhp) GTO that were there that day! The white single turbo supra didnt go much quicker either (7.6). So imagine what your car would do on race gas and a 1.5 60 footer??? I am guessing a low 7 say (7.3-7.4)!

HDP 10-20-2009 08:31 PM

It's cool Mike. I really wanted to see what my car had but was too afraid of breaking something. I just needed that push to just do it. Now I know my car has more in it and the only way to extract it is to push it. Yeah, I broke, but that only makes way for improvements. To be honest, I was pretty bummed after Montgomery and the other T&T days we went to only to not post better times than before.
Was just looking at Steve's timeslip above, and our times are nearly identical. I wonder if my 1/4 times would be similar as well?

sk8world 10-21-2009 12:25 AM

yeah, would be pretty close within .1 or so I think. You have a 11 in your car as it sits on pump map/gas.

estevan62274 10-22-2009 06:13 PM

Sorry to hear about your diff......Glad to see you out there running!

That's a good time slip! g/l

Cant wait finish my FD w/GT35R and head back to the track.

sk8world 10-23-2009 12:52 PM

nevermind. Just read another post saying you sold the FB.. You going to miss that car. I would have put it under the knife and mini tubed it.... Let me know if you need anything.

HDP 10-23-2009 04:55 PM

No updates... Is P71 even on here anymore? He hasn't posted anything on the forum since June...

sk8world 10-24-2009 12:07 AM

I told Phil to let me moderate the drag section....

Cool, maybe you can restructure things and separate the 1/8 and 1/4 times and do away with that inaccurate 1/8 calculator...

sk8world 10-24-2009 11:06 PM

Well I lost today at the "king of the Streets" event but hads fun. I was up against a twin turbo chevy/Mustang and lost by .229 so it was close (him 6.7 @113). Was some fast cars there. Saw Lane in the white LS1 FD on a 2 stage NOS kit go 6.0 in the 1/8th!! Friend of mine brought his New GTR out with Cobb upgrades and went 7.3 over and over. Myself finally tried to run less boost (21 vs. 25) and the car ran the same but was easier to control, went 6.9-7.0 on every pass. I have some serious traction issues to resolve before next year as I dont believe I will go any quicker no matter how much power I make. I will post a video, sounds like I am going thru 5 gears as I am on and off the throttle...

Bryan@BNR 11-02-2009 10:48 PM

Congrats!! Now turn the boost up to 23psi and try hitting 10's. Also did you lower the tire pressure to around 8 or 9psi?

jamespond24 11-03-2009 12:58 AM

Car did okay at 12 psi tire pressure. It didnt float all around on the big end so I just kept it around 12 psi. This was my second time out with the car, still trying to get used to it. It will go tens like it sits with some 4.30 gears. I am shifting well before the 60 ft mark with the 4.88's. That was me lift shifting as well :D.

The second pass started out well, but I had my finger on the antilag switch 3rd gear on. I bet it would have ran a 10 if I wasn't a screw up :D.

Sorry I've been AWOL for awhile fellas. I started a new job in June and it's limited my free time for things like the intarwebz.

jbrozak: I need a timeslip or video to add your run from July.

estevan62274: I updated your FB run from August.

HDP: I updated your FD run from October.

Bryan@BNR: Added you in, thanks for the video.

jamespond24: Again, I'd love to add you in but we have to have a slip (preferred) or a video.
