Agreed. He definately does more than annoy me.

I want this hood so bad I can taste it... its the "missing" link for my car to get ready for the body shop....

project86 07-14-2009 10:29 PM

the missing link to my car being ready is a complete rebuild... btw Titanium.... i noticed your very nice 13B-RE... and that you kept the sequential set up. how is it? is you uim ceramic coated or did you just paint it? my plan was also to do an RE.

Everything that touches exhaust or intake air was ceramic coated.

I love the REW twins. Show me a car that can spool as quick as those things in the lower gears. I touch the throttle in 5th @ 50mph and I get 15 lbs. Still have some fine tuning though. Dave and I are really looking forward to mucking around with the Motec and the sequentials on the dyno. Our goal is to get a smoother transition than the factory and almost twice the RWHP. Lofty but we'll see.

Here's some reading for ya ;)

ok.. so first off ... im impressed. alot lol. i only made it through the 2nd page so far but damn. you remind me alot of my friend sean. his has a blue FC that he has a write up on that is similar to yours. im determined to go through everthing just like you have. and im lovin the color. im actually going to school for collision repair so ive learned the welding and im workin my ass off on the paint and body work part of it. totally worth it. where are did you do the work at? i do have a ? about the sequential set up though... you musht have gone through and re done all of the vac lines and what not right? why the REW twins and no the the ones that came with the RE and .. i was obviously miss informed because i was told the REW twins wouldnt fit.. but that must be only if you use the REW engine too?

Expect it to take YEARS to go through everything. It's that time consuming. I did all the work in my garage. All the paint too, with the exception of the body itself. I couldn't get enough airflow to keep the paint clean, so I hit up a friend of the family who has a body shop and towed the car there to spray the body in thier DD booth.

I bought a set of industrial duty solenoids and redid every last van line. I even built my own vac/boost chamber and mounted it under the UIM. Everything is either stainless hardlines or thick ass silcone.

REW twins are bigger, more plentiful, and can be serviced in the US. What do you do if the RE twind fail? You're shit out of luck. Not to mention I didn't think that the RE twins were capable of the 380-400 that I want to see.

The REW twins will fit in the same physical location in the engine bay regardless of what engine they are on. Plenty of people have dropped REW complete engines into the FC. Some different from others in terms of the mounting. If I was going to go ahead and use the REW engine though, I would build an entirely new subframe to drop the thing in. Well, ok, not an entirely new subframe, I would modify the existing subframe. The REW has some advantages over the RE, but not enough to justify using the REW over the RE based on the RE's advantages. More equal length intake runners, bigger plenum, bigger runners, etc etc etc. The main drawback to the RE are the stock exhaust sleeves which actually, the first engine that I bought was already rebuild using REW housings so i was GOLDEN. The second engine has the RE housings, but I swapped the REW sleeves in. The way they line up isn't ideal but the dyno will tell if I'm being paranoid or not.

So after not a lot of back and forth at all with RHDJapan, they decided to offer the GK hood on thier site. I'm REALLY impressed with Russell and the other guys @ RHDJapan, and I'm an old cranky not easily impressed bastard and they really came through. If my own little PJ falls through, I'll be picking this bad ride up for sure. Infact, I may just do it anyway, we'll see. Anywho, all should enjoy this. I like it more than the PanSpeed hood so I'm pretty much officially out of the Shine GB dealy.

Panspeed.... :suspect:.... GK

oh bugger.

For the record I LOVE THOSE GUYS AT RHDJAPAN! They basically went through their entire shift knob inventory that Fits the FC and got me all of the weights since I wanted something with a heavy feel.

WE3RX7 07-23-2009 04:01 PM

That essentially looks the same from that angle, only its missing the second smaller vent over the exhaust....

JW Brian - but why do you like that one more? Its hard to tell if the lip around the vent is much taller than panspeed's...

WE3RX7 07-23-2009 04:02 PM

Lol - just saw that they have it in CF... damnit... why do you make these decisions harder!!!
