I'm planning on stopping @ Dave's Thursday morning @ 8:30ish to try one more time to convince him.
Lemme know on the caravan/tuning, I'd love to know. Right now we're about 7 cars strong Have you changed much with the car since the last tune? PFC right? Do you have the interface? We MIGHT be able to toy a little with it on the way down/when we get there if she's running a little lean. Fresh/tight motors tend to do that. Maybe a global change richening her up a little by bumping the fuel pressure is all you need to gbet into that overly safe zone. There's such a difference between street/dyno tuning it's laughable, it really is. At least with the MoTeC the difference between street driving and a chassis dyno is big especially with boost control |
yea i have the pfc, and dave gave me a base map after i got the engine back to compensate for all the mods i did
im actually going on friday with benny to pick up his car, so im gona talk to him about deals and maybe have him adjust my tune a bit so i wont have to constantly drive like a sissy...even if it does kill me a little bit more then usual on gas lol, and have him give her the once over to make sure i didnt do anything dumb haha as for the caravans, wednsday night is looking like 6-8 cars and thursday morning will probably be around 3-5 cars and now that i think about it.....weres the stickers!?! lol lol |
Friday you say...... I'll let you know Thursday night if I can head out with ya.... really doubt it though :cuss::icon_no2:
Lemme know about the Thursday caravan, would be pretty bitchin. Whoe's in the 3-5 on Thurs. Last I heard, Dennis was heading down on Wed. Do you know Omar, Benny, and Bancocks plans or should I just buzz 'em? Depending on what mods you did, the map you had might be ok for cruise, but could be WAY off for higher load sites. It all depends on what ya did. Sucks about Dave's dyno, sucks having to wait months for parts, my original plan was to be on Dave's dyno on 4/3, That day has come and gone and I still don't have a roller. As scary as it is, the FD is closer to being assembled than the FC :smilielol5: Ordered them today actually ;) |

by the way...were are you sleeping anyways? Quote:
well it obviously cant go like that now lol :) which is why im hoping he can at least adjust it so i can have a little more freedom what sucks about the pfc is, without the tuning software, im limited to how much adjustments i can do with my map, i cant alter the curve i can only richen or lean it as a whole you know...i think the funniest thing about all this is....we all swore we wouldnt cut it this close like last year...yet here we are again....a week and a day or 2 away...and things still arent done.. lmao just gotta laugh at that Quote:

ok as of right now, things have been adjusted, it appears the thursday morning group fell apart, so now its only wed night and thursday night
and i cant be leaving on thursday night since the cabin is under my name lol so it looks like ill be headin down wed spoke to dave any? i called him a couple times, he hasnt returned any of my calls |
That's a bummer, oh well, I think our Thursday caravan will be 4 cars and one bike :D
Last time I spoke to Dave, he still didn't have phones at his new shop, so he was stopping by the old to check msg's every night. Best is e-mail, he always get's ya back with that. I know there was some looming deadline for getting out of the old shop becuase it was re-rented, I know that's going to effect communication. I feel bad, I wish there was something that I could do to help him out. |
yea definetly, transitions suck no matter how you look at it, i just hope things go nice and smooth once everything is settled
|
Hope you got everything done on time for this weekend there Bri. Good thing they got that rock slide cleared out. Have fun!
|
Hey Tyler, nope, car isn't done yet. Not even close actually. I'm starting to get a little worried. I'll hit the panic button Wed around noon, and the Abort button friday night around 6pm. Took the day off from work, heading out there now. Pulled 40hrs strait yesterday. Getting close to my record, I may have to beat it this year ;)
Dude - you have no idea how many RedBull, Monster, Mt Dew empties there are. It's appraoching ~30gal! |
do work son
|
darn brian, it would suck to see you do all that work and not bring it to deals :(
|
I think Brian is gonna make a new record and get to DGRR. I went to the store and the redbull was all gone and the clerk said something about a massive emergency shipment to Ct. I can only assume its Brian :)

I have the original copies of the pics taken from Brian cleaning his car out at last year DGRR before they were edited and some shots of his new corporate sponsorship...
Sorry, got bored at 6am this morning waiting on files to download.... |
we need some live webcam action for the next two days haha
|
^that would be cool. lol.
|
Sooooo.....I go on vacation to NY for a week and you got nothing done?
I am so very disappoint......:302: |
Brian, give me a call today. I'm gonna be leaving late tonight, get a couple hours on the road, sleep in my car and continue on in the morning. If you're able to get on the road by ~ 2am tonight you can probably pull in, wake me up and we'll caravan the rest of the way.
I couldn't take my bike down cause I'm waiting on parts so I'm renting a car. |

so, did you get it done yet?
|
I'm sure he did Brian's crazy

For example.... went to start the car for the first time and had no power to anything that I wired up. Factory shit was all fine but nothing I wired was working. WTF? So I started at the battery and worked forward. Oddly enough the main relay wasn't getting a turn on signal..... OK.... hit the schematic and found out that the IG2 circuit passes through the fuse blocks power window circuit. Odd... whatever... I added my own powerwindow circuit so I pulled the factory's fuse. Once I figured that out, popped a fuse in and all was well. Then there were a few gauges not working properly. Traced that to a gnd that accidentally got wrapped into the front harness. Cool, gnd that and viola. Then she wouldn't start. Not surprising with all the changes that I made. Namely injectors and coils. Now, the MoTeC is just plain awesome. You can adjust the IJPU to suit different injectors. So, theoretically if you go from a 1000cc to a 2000cc injector, you can cut the IJPU in half, and the tuning won't change IFF the injectors are linear in thier delivery. I went with a set of ID725 and ID2000's up from the 750/1000 POS delphi basically propane injectors. I changed the IJPU to suit and she wouldn't even start. I toyed with the map slightly and got her to stumble but it hit me that the entire map was now going to be fucked becuase I was going from a very non-linear injector to a perfectly linear injector. If I post a screen shot of my map compared to a map of a car running ID's, you'll see what I mean. Then I discovered a small fuel leak, didn't look to far into it because at this point it's like 2pm on Friday and I also found a fairly frozen FR brake caliper. It was just too much. What I should've done was focus more on my car and less on others at the end of March. Oh well, next year.... and I'm sure a bunch in between. Gives me more reason to have the FC shipped to CA for 7stock though ;) |
Damnit B! Stop using my name when referencing other people with the same name! It's confusing!
Don't worry I'm in the same boat as you, though I guess this means you can have time for our "special" project ;) |
i'm slightly better off i wasn't even in denial that my car would be ready. if its ready for next years i'll be suprized.
|
Better that you stayed home then drive all those hours on no sleep only to be stuck at the lodge and not enjoying the drive. Look forward to seeing it soon though! Get some pics up when you can, but get some sleep first!
|
Ahem.....
|
sorry you didn't make it down it was like motel 6 we left the light on for ya just in case you were gonna surprise everyone by showing up in a FB or something. BTW its time to change the thread title again

How many dudes can you fit in a FC? I think we should find out! I'm saying we can get 8 in there. 1 working gas, bake, clutch and shifting. 1 steering in your lap. 2 in passenger seat. And 2 stacked on top of each other side by side in the back. |

I'll get some pics up for sure. Right now I've got a few other priorities that need attention. I plan to get some work done to her this weekend and maybe by 5/1 have her up and running. We'll have to hook up at Daves again for that dyno coil torture test, and I'll prob be swinging through as I am going to attend Zoom-fest this year. Quote:
Quote:
Are there any other local/non-local event's you're planning on hitting up? Zoom fest perhaps? Quote:

got some great footage for you to check out, plus some crazy stories of things that happened, plus i still need to swing by to get some work done
AND..now that i think about it...i owe you guys some parts...perhaps when i go to get my work done i can sucker someone into driving a big truck to drop it all off (cough* cough* my dad or mom cough* cough*) and we still need to talk of an actual deal, perhaps through pms :suspect: lol |

At least I have Zoom-Fest to look forward to and that All Mazda meet at OCC.... and about 2-dozen auto-x's and a handful of trackdays. Still going to drive through the dragon on the way to Zoom-Fest. Hit me up with what you need done and we'll figure everything out. Quote:
|
Hey Brian the rotary gods are pissed at you and since you spent half of the winter working on a V-8 powered 7 therefore there is no way they could allow you to make the deadline on your car. When are you going to Daves for tuning/torturing?
|
So what's the news on the wheel speed stuff. Sorry I fell off the radar for a couple weeks, I got killed with school and the formula car. If you still need me to do anything else, let me know.
|
Hey Dave, I forgot to ask, how were those seats on the drive down?
Quote:
Yeah, something like that. Worked kicked up, new jobs are coming in and my time is getting more and more scarce.... I'm gonna rock the hell outta this weekend, wake up saturday, work till sunday night. Sadly it won't all be on the car. i took a peak tonight and found, I hope, the fuel leak, I know what's going on with the wiring for the most part so squaring that away won't be all that bad, I'm hoping to have her running by the end of the weekend. We'll see. As for Dave's, dunno, soon though. It's going to be a two part event though. One day tuning, then back for the coil torture testing. You wanna head up? What days work better for you? In the summer believe it or not, weekdays work better for me but I could arrange something on the weekend if ya wanna join:icon_tup: Quote:
As for the rear, welllllllllllll, I have two solutions for that. One involves two seperate peice bolted together, the other is a plate with pressed in fingers. I need to make one work, grab some pics, and get back intouch with the waterjetter. The fronts are ready to rock and roll.... want me to get a set out to you? |
No need to get them yet. Lets get a finalized design and finished product before I receive anything.
|
No worries. Fronts are done, it's just the rears. Need to decide if two plates bolted together is the way to go or one plate cut with holes every 15* to press in a roll pin is the way to go.
I'll update with some pics when I find my camera. |
seats were awesome brian, they were as comfy as seats could possibly be for a 13 sraight our drive (with someone whos very fidgety lol) and they held me like a mom holds her baby on the dragon lol
as for our other discussion ill probably give you a call in a couple hours about it ;) |
