Cool Dave, glad to hear it! I can't wait to toss myself around in the FC with those seats. I may have to figure out how to make the shoulder harnesses work with them for some of the auto-x's and track days...... especially if I head down to Zoomfest.

Gimme a shout whenever and we'll get it all sorted out ;)

helghast7 04-22-2010 11:11 PM

ohh i do have on thing that might need to be modified on the seats that we can discuss when i come down, nothing major, just a little inconvenience that the seats cause because of there size

and yea definetly i was going to call you umm, yesterday i guess..since its now friday....but i didnt want to try and set up a day and time when i didnt have my schedule sorted out since i have a plan on how to get those parts to you

2gslse 04-27-2010 09:09 PM

As for Dave's, dunno, soon though. It's going to be a two part event though. One day tuning, then back for the coil torture testing. You wanna head up? What days work better for you? In the summer believe it or not, weekdays work better for me but I could arrange something on the weekend if ya wanna join:icon_tup:

I don't know how my schedule will work out so just post up here when you get set up and if I can make it I'll let ya know.

helghast7 04-28-2010 12:07 AM

im still trying to figure out when is a good day...thinking maybe saturday afternoon or maybe sunday...if thats cool, hows things looking on your end?

Sounds like a plan to me. Dyno should be up and running before I am. I'm hoping to be able to blast out there on my next day off..... I just don't know when that's going to be.

Hey Dave, not entirely sure. We've been jamming at work close to 12 hrs a day for the last two weeks, waterfront opens on Saturday and I'm sure I'll be there. I'm not sure when my next day off is going to be or even what my expected hours are going to be over the weekend. I'll let you know as soon as I do. I'll give you a shout in a bit, sorry I missed your call... gotta go jam for a seatrial now so maybe, just maybe I can get this boat outta my life on Saturday morning.

helghast7 04-28-2010 07:30 PM

really? whens the last time you spoke to dave, last i heard the dyno was going to be fully operational the wed before DGRR, ive been talking with Dave about a tune and hes never said it wasnt up yet, so i would assume its working

Sorry Michan.... I've had 'em, but didn't get my camera back until I had the FC flatbedded back to my place on Sunday. Here they are for the front. Rears need to be totally redesigned. I built a set from some flat 1/4" AL cut and drilled tapped but I'm going to get the original design adapted to work. I'll get some pics of that when I install the plates that I made.

Anyway, here they are, if you want a set for the front now, lemme know as I'm going to order some that are slightly different. The ones in the pics are 1/4" thick steel with some 1/16" washers. So the answer is some cut out of 5/16" and cadnium plated to prevent the rust. So lemme know if you want a set. There is only one more measurement that needs to be corrected. I had to file out the ID to fit over the hub.

Yeah I have been, see the last set of pics to illustrate what we went through for basically nothing. Still so pissed. First 2 days I have off I'm realling thinking about heading down to the Dragon just because. I can count on one hand the number of days I've had off in the last 6 weeks and I've had about 5 hours to work on the car since DGRRX.... sooooo bummed.

TitaniumTT 05-20-2010 12:44 AM

So I figured I should give ya a few updates. Haven't really done shit since DGRRX, work has been kicking my ass to the tune of 10-14hrs/day 6 days a week. So I'm still thrashing every chance I get, but I've had no time as other shit keeps coming up, as in my mothers truck :banghead:

So anyway, here are some goodies

Pic of the rear of the car showing the battery/fuse/main disconnect mounting.... and of course the bitchin' Lizard Skin

MoTeC and TCMux mounting and wiring.

ID2000 injector in my grimy hand, pair of ID 725's in the rail. These things just look impressive. If you've ever looked at the antiquated Delphi injectors that alot of us run, you'd understand. I really can't wait to start tuning with these injectors:icon_tup:

CJ Rail installed. Really looking forward to getting them to build me a rail even though I just bought the GURU rail. The GURU rail has it's shortcomings as well but it's the BEST option that's currently available. And when they say 3-4 day delivery from AU, they mean it.

Anyway - CJ rail

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274335620

The big problem with the injectors and fitting them into the RE LIM is the 16mm+ opening for the injectors. I know alot of people just put a bigger o-ring on and call it done, but I was STRONGLY urged by Paul to NOT do that. So I looked around for the little adapter baskets and then a rail set to the right height and the Guru rail was it. Here's a pic of the little adapter bucket.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274335620

And installed in the LIM

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274335620

The rail itself with the new ID2000's installed. If you look at the end, it's NOT a pipe thread as I would've liked to see. Instead it's a -8 ORB.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274335620

Now, how does one get a 1/2"NPT Marren FPD onto a -8ORB fitting. The answer is you don't without a myriad of adapter fittings. I hate adapter fittings. So after a 9 minute phone call to MoTeC and a 2 day wait, this little gem of a package arrives. Bosch FPD, -6 Banjo, and an M18x1.25 to -8 ORB fitting. Who the HELL has a fitting like that? MoTeC - the only company that continues to impress me. Now, do I put it on the front of the rail to show it off, of the end of the rail to make the plumbing easier?

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274335620

And assembled

And this is what DGRRX will do to two seemingly normal people :smilielol5:

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274336018

And yes, that is my car cover..... 1/4" flannel lined, very warm ;)

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274336018

Still left to do wold be
Plumb the fuel system
wire up the GT101 Hall Sensors
a few body panels to put on
install the FTP's
change a front caliper out
Build a fuel cell - this is going to kick some serious ass.

WE3RX7 05-20-2010 12:38 PM

Bah... slacker.

You think you've done shit. I've had nothing short of wrapping up some interior stuff and jacking my car up in the last few weeks!

Looking good though - I love the fuel configuration! Must look into those injectors as well... when the time is right of course ;)

FC3S Murray 05-20-2010 03:53 PM

Good progress Brian! Man it seems that slow FC work has been the pace for everyone this last month....I have only got 500 miles on the FC and barely any tuning done.

I am very impressed with Motec as well.....they really seem to hook there customers up indeed! I would have gone that route if I would have known about Motecs capabilities.

MAN I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE A PIC OF YOU SLEEPING.......................................... .........here is what you would really look like if you had your "perks" available that night lol

I've done less than that in the last 4 weeks. Although now that the car is here I'm getting about 90 minutes a night done, which I guess is better than nothing.

Look into the rails as well. Nicest I've seen. Still plan on working with CJ to make a secondary as there are a few things that I would like to change.... as always.

Most people don't, it's kind of surprising. Alot of people just follow the bandwagon but when they see what it can do, they all do the :banghead: routine. I think alot of people are scared off by the price as well. It's not cheap, but for what you get, including the support, it really is priceless. I'll never go another route on any of my personal cars.

Yeah, I really can't wait to see what they do for idle, driveability, the map, everything. I called MoTeC one morning to ask a question and I got transferred to one of thier engineers. Guy sounded to be late 40's, incredridbly well spoken, very prim and proper. The he asks what injectors I'm using, I tell him Paul Yaw's Injector Dynamics.... he pauses for a breif moment and says. "Pauls injectors are the SHIT!" I laughed, he went on a 90 second tyraid abour how awesome they are, they're really the only injectors they rec now, they're this, they're that they're just the SHIT! Brian's excited, those Delphi's left me wanting.

project86 05-21-2010 01:27 PM

hmm... youre putting more ideas in my head.....damn

TitaniumTT 05-21-2010 09:31 PM

actually I'll tell ya in PM to keep the secret a mystery ;)

My friend is running 4 of those ID injectors on his 13b-RE since there's a few vids of bone stock 4 bangers idling/running on them without a hitch. Of course he's also full bridge with GT45 turbo and intends on running E85 in the near future so......

Nice. What did he do for a fuel rail and how did he punch up the diam from 14 to 16?

So I guess it's about time for an update of sorts. I pulled another all nighter just to try to stay on sched.

I've taken the interior as far as I can go until I get the fuel cell done. I really just wanted to show off the redline goods boots and new shifter. A little work on the engine and she's now ready to fire, as soon as I finish up this bitch.....

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274758595

Here's almost all of the needed pieces.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274758595

Getting that top on and tacked in place was without a doubt the hardest thing to do. In taking as many measurementsas possible I found out that everything was off by about .063" May not sound like alot but when it's half the thickness if the material being used, it becomes a rather large problem
Surge tank welded in place

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274758595

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274758595

Baffled. You can see the plate I built out of .25" AL with some 1/4-20 bolts for studs. Should be able to get enough loud on those fuckers to knock out any leaks.
The thing holds about a gallon of gas, shouldnever have an issue, or so I hope.

http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1274758595

With any luck I'll have the car running by memorial day.... I hope.

project86 05-25-2010 12:14 AM

^^As always.. impressed by your work. Are we sure you arent a robot? The welds on that damn fuel cell are fantastic!

Oh and i dont know if you remember this or not but when i told you i sprayed my paint at 29psi to the cap, i meant 29psi to the gun. That i believe translates to 10psi to the cap. I was just thinkin about that the other day while i was at the paint store looking at guns.

Cool, thanks. I generally run a little more pressure than that esp with the clear. Are you reducing the clear at all to make it lay that flat?

I've never been overly impressed with the KG rails, then again, I've never been impressed with really any of the aftmkt rails with the exception of one.

He probably just used a bigger o-ring. I was sternly warned about that especially with a boosted engine. I like the Guru rail mainly becuase it has the adapter buckets.

That's a good question. I don't think anyone would part with one of those if they're trying to sell a TB. you MAY have to get a whole new/used TB.

What about that Rotary Works TB? Seriously

helghast7 05-28-2010 01:51 AM

its a thought, im really trying(other then the tune and my splurge on the tail lights lol) not to spend any money for a while on the car, need to save for a beater for the winter because theres no way in hell im driving the fd with any kind of snow on the ground

btw the dashpot thingy is the piece on the tb that connects to the throttle linkage, it has that movable tongue looking thing that helps slow the plates on a decel

well my tongue thing is not moving...so i need a new one

i wish i had a pic, it would make way more sense

lol. Brian, how are you checking your fuel level (via dash. I assume you're just going to use the motec sensor for the signal)? I'm trying to figure out mapping for my car... and I think I have it nailed, but want to see what you do.

Negatory, I know exactely what it is. Would the one from your old n/a engine fit?

Nah, not the MoTeC sensor, that thing is too big and too expensive. Odd you should bring this up, sorry I didn't see it sooner. I was just about to weld the side on my tank when I was going through my checklist - sender - fucker - I dicked around with the stocker for a bit and decided that it would be too much effort to make it fit, so I'm just going to swing by the chandlery tomorrow and pick up a 9" Wema for my 10" deep tank.
http://www.wemausa.com/tank_sensors/...nk_sensors.htm
If the Wema fails, I'll be able to adapt the stock sender into the mounting hole for the Wema so it's a no brainer. Wema for now, and if the Autometer gauge pisses me off.... I will stab it.
