Already covered by Promaz.

bam! !

reddozen 12-12-2017 01:22 PM

The reason for the front cover was to easily bolt on the stock AC, CAS, and coolant hose configuration. Less things to change, so less work, and more availability of parts off the shelf.

Anyone get anything cool or something they wasn't expecting for xmas?

I'm revisiting my childhood by getting back into RC cars so I got myself a gift for Christmas :)

I've been keeping my eye out for a Kyosho SuperTen for some time now and I finally found one at a reasonable price.

The interesting part is what I want to do with it. . .

Here's a hint
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4728/...6c3380c1_z.jpg

What about yourself?

Johnny_K 12-28-2017 10:20 AM

Nice.

Got a bull barrel for the ruger 10/22 and IR 60 gallon air compressor. Both items i was totally not expecting.

FC Zach 12-28-2017 10:27 AM

Hell yeah, that compressor will be handy for sure. Do you need a stock for the 22 or do you already have one?

Johnny_K 12-28-2017 10:32 AM

yea super stoked about the compressor.

i got a stock for it last year.

We should go to the range on 12/31.

FC Zach 12-28-2017 10:43 AM

I would be down with going to the range but I'll be going out of town that day.

Good you can bring mine back FGT.

djmtsu 01-03-2018 09:35 AM

Dammit Zach! I sold my R/C's before Morgan was born. I had 2 HPI Nitro RS3's. Both with 2 speed gearboxes, one with the .15 engine, one with a .12.

I actually didn't ever really get into those two, probably because I grew up racing electric Losi buggies and trucks. I should have never sold those either, but they helped fund the move South.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 09:51 AM

That's awesome! I remember the HPI RS3s, those were a popular chassis. My first car (although a step down from this one) was very similar to this SuperTen I just got except the center diff came standard with the QRC system (reverse) and I added a two speed trans.

I'm pretty excited to get back into the hobby and look forward to adding the hop-up parts like I would have done when I was in middle school. This Kyosho will get a two speed trans, aluminum and carbon replacement parts (if I can find them, it's an old car), and of course the rotary.

The rotary engine is the tricky part for this build, OS discontinued these years ago so I just have to keep my eyes out for a good used one on eBay. . Jess has a few and said I could use one years ago when we were still at the shop but after running it by him the other day I assume he forgot and wants to keep them. . Which is understandable since these things are going for astronomical prices especially if NIB! So anyways, I'm just gonna enjoy this as it is and keep an eye out for the Wankel.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 09:55 AM

Oh, and I will get a 2nd gen body to make a mini me for the car show ;)

Super sweet. I had FD bodies for mine, since for some reason prior to 2010 they didn't make any FC bodies, except for 1/12 and smaller scale.

The only reason I never considered the Kyosho, and some other brands is I am not a fan of belt drive. Personal preference.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 09:58 AM

Currently there's one on eBay at $485 with three days remaining, I suspect it react about 800 :(

The SuperTen is shaft driven :)

Is it? I though all Kyosho were belt? I guess I'm getting old.

I'll bring my Kyosho 1/24(?) scale FC carpet race to DGRR this year.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 10:05 AM

The mini-z cars? Those were sweet, I always wanted one of those!

Maybe....it's been a long time since I bought it. Got it from someone on here actually NIB.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 10:23 AM

That's pretty sweet, too bad it's on backorder. If it is the Kyosho mini-z you have, holy crap! I didn't think those were as much as they are!

djmtsu 01-03-2018 10:30 AM

I literally can't find it anywhere online. I'll snap a pic and send it to you tonight. Maybe you can help identify it.

FC Zach 01-03-2018 10:33 AM

Werd

djmtsu 01-19-2018 12:17 PM

Is the 8 currently under the knife or are you still driving it?

No fenders or front bumper until the body shop gets the new ones fitted. If by some miracle he gets the body work done in time, I may be able to bring the car, but the engine will not be ready in time.

Right now I'm just driving the MR2. About to pull the motor and give it a full overhaul just in case it needs to go to DGRR again this year. Plan to have the fenders addressed so I don't get any more rubbing either.

djmtsu 02-08-2018 12:33 PM

Ordered a bunch of stupid stuff for the Cosmo.

LCA bushings
Sway end links
PS belt
Fuel pump
Rad and gas caps
Corrugated lower rad hose

I'm ready to go.

Johnny_K 02-08-2018 12:54 PM

^ Nice!

i need to paint and install diffusers on both cars.

Send the MB seats off to be recovered and redo the intercooler and piping.

djmtsu 02-09-2018 12:17 PM

Might end up getting a radiator as well. We'll see. I'm going to drain the coolant (since the lower hose is coming off anyway) and runs some flush in the rad.

Once that crap is installed, I'll be fixing all the wiring for the stereo and replacing the cig lighter with a USB charge port.

I just ordered some real leather replacement covers from eBay (at a really good price) and I plan to do the work myself. Originally I was hoping to have an upholster do all the work till I learned what they charge. Check eBay if that's an option you're interested in. .

That's something I've thought about doing but I still find myself needing the standard cigarette plug.

reddozen 02-10-2018 03:03 PM

I ordered S2 fenders for the 8... I'm going to try and set the S2 lights working tomorrow. If i can get all that going, and pray the the fitment on the custom front bumper is is good enough to mount, then the 8 may make it to DGRR even without the 20b.

Still need to find another body shop that will do custom fiberglass work.

FC Zach 02-10-2018 03:04 PM

Nice

djmtsu 02-15-2018 01:46 PM

Parts arrived.

Rain, rain, go away.

Johnny_K 03-09-2018 08:20 AM

Bump.

What's new?

FC Zach 03-09-2018 08:40 AM

Been quiet but that a good thing :)

Johnny_K 03-09-2018 08:44 AM

ha.

I'm ready for some nicer weather and ready for some more concrete at the house so that i dont have to shuffle cars around as much.

djmtsu 03-09-2018 08:56 AM

Going to Charles house in the morning to make mounts for the shroud on my AL radiator. Then back home to install and start playing with suspension bits.

Last comes wiring the stereo back in, and re-wiring the gauges. I might wash it or something.
