Billy, would you let me take your 8 if I bring my own wheels and tires to put on? :)

definetly wanna go what are the requirements to drive, helmet, cage harness?

Brent 04-19-2010 03:52 PM

I had alot of fun at Zoomfest last year. As much of a Road Atlanta junkie that I am, I am glad to see it move to TGPR. It's more track time for everyone and I think it will be much more user friendly for all. I will most likely be there given the Army doesn't have me doing something that weekend.

As for the Time Attack, I see there are no classes. Any stipulations on the cars? Obviously an RX something, but the reason I ask is because I will most likely be bringing my V8 FD. I know there are plenty of rotaries that are faster than me though, so it shouldn't be an issue, right? :D

In general all you need is a helmet. This FAQ will answer all your questions:

Yes, it was hard for us to move it away from our "home track" but we really wanted to ensure the track time and future growth.

The event is open to any Mazda or Mazda powered vehicle. We will have 4 groups for the track day. A-D, grouped by experience level and level of modifications. I will work on a classing structure for the time attack over the next month.

So I am trying to figure out how this goes...

$20 lets me hang out, but if I want to run the track, at all, it is another $150, and that is only if I am one of the first 40 to sign up?

Help me Billy!

The standard Zoom-Fest ticket is $20. No limit on sales.
The Track day ticket is $150 (includes the $20 standard ticket). Only 40 spots will be sold.

My5ABaby 04-22-2010 12:25 PM

In for the track day. Is there somewhere we can see how many are signed up for the track day?

Edit: Found it: http://www.mazdameets.com/index.php?...tid=2&id=22#22

Herblenny 04-22-2010 01:26 PM

Damn, If I had my 8, I would definitely sign up for the track day.. I would take the MB FD but I don't want to risk it as I have to do some shows this year.

85'12a-Blake 04-23-2010 02:17 AM

wow zoom-fest huh, I was gonna go 2 import alliance this year but seeing as this is on the same days . I will most certainly go 2 this instead. I will fit in better with my rx7. 2 many hondas @ import alliance

You are thinking of a SCCA PDX. This is not run by the SCCA this year. You will not be limited on track speed. I will say, if anyone continually drives over their head and leaves the track surface, you will be told to leave. All attendees are responsible for track or facility damage as well.

We have agreed with the track to require SA95. This is actually a lesser requirement for SCCA and NASA this year. They have moved on to SA200 or above. Beg, borrow or steal you a SA95 :)

Boooooooooooooo, lol.

t_g_farrell 04-27-2010 11:56 AM

I'm signed up for the track day. Should be a blast.

Now off to find me a helmet. I'm going for a SA2005 so if I ever do
any other events it will cover it for awhile. No use buying multiple
helmets, plus its your head.

I can check and see what my helmets are rated at.

You can borrow one if it meets the requirements.

I can't make it due to work. Lame. This is the first time I could not make it to something because of work.

Dazed and Rotarded 04-28-2010 02:49 PM

Yeah, let me know. I'm shopping around for one too. If I find one I like and it's a good price it'd probably be good to have.

To much stuff to do and not enough time haha still can't wait.

TitaniumTT 05-13-2010 10:11 PM

Reg'ed! Can't wait. Anyone from the NE planning on attending?

t_g_farrell 05-14-2010 01:52 PM

If anyone is coming down I77 thru Charlotte, PM me and we can caravan
on down together. I'm thinking of leaving Friday noonish to get there early
Friday evening.

Billy, Can we get in and camp over Friday night. If not is there a place to
camp nearby on Friday?

t_g_farrell 05-18-2010 01:22 PM

Looks like its a motel stay for Friday night. They just posted this up on the ZoomFest site.

Kentetsu 05-18-2010 02:44 PM

Well, I wish I could make it, but its just not in the cards for me this year (again). No way I can work it into my budget while still being realistic.

I also have a chance to try out a new form of racing (sort of like Stadium racing/autocross) which is getting a lot of publicity but not many cars right now.

I'll try to plan better for next year. :(

I'm planning to make it down there. If nothing else, I want to finally make it to a meet again; however, my real goal is to tun the open session/time attack. In order to do that, though, I'm trying to get a 4 pt roll bar made for my vert, but not having much luck locally.

Anyone want to hook me up with a great price on one? :)

88turboii 05-23-2010 10:50 PM

a buddy got his nasa rally spec cage built by carter racing in savannah. i would like to konw if there is a good local rollcage shop though

t_g_farrell 06-03-2010 12:11 PM

Come on people, get signed up for ZoomFest, NOW!

9G Redline 06-07-2010 09:18 PM

Once I find out if I can be off work I will register to race. May need to borrow a helmet *cough: Jeremy : cough* if at all possible. If not I'll have to spring for one seeing as how I'm pretty sure after this event I'll be hooked. =D

Herblenny 06-08-2010 07:25 AM

Signed up just now.. Will bring my FD to show.. someone offered me their 8 to track but we'll see..
