20b RCR Superlite-Coupe
Building a RCR Superlite-Coupe and it will be 20b powered. The engine is built (and has been for a very long time) and installed in the car along with a fully prepped Porsche G50-52. Have done a bunch of other stuff to the car but none really worth posting here or willing to show :)
Next to my buddy Mark's (gnx7) Widebody LS7 powered 3rd gen. http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1280870728 Shortly after getting it home from Marks shop. http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1280868221 http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...1&d=1280868334 |
holy shit!

that blew my mind
never knew something like that existed |
Awesome!!! I seriously can't wait to see more. Maybe you should post some of that stuff that "isn't worth posting" :).
|
Definately interested in seeing more of this thing as it progresses.
|
I see a weld across the plenum of the intake manifold. Got some sneaky sneaky work going on in there that you would care to share?

Single white male intersted in finding a single white superlite. Please call 867-5309.

That brembo kit is worth more than my car. I'm jealous. That thing should be a blast.
Are you going turbo or NA? |
Its about damn time I've seen something on this since you mentioned it years ago:001_302:

I spy with my little eye a decent size turbo on the shelf!

I don't .... know.... what to say but that thing is damn sexy!

That has to be one of the sexiest chassis I have ever seen in my life.
|
I gotta go wack off
|
sweet lord
|
Why is the lower chasis square + not round? Wouldn't that save you some weight + be a bit stronger?
|
Wow, I've never seen one of those before! What the hell is it? What will you be using it for? Where can I find more info on the chassis/shell?
I think I just found the car to replace my fb with. Just as soon as a rich uncle dies and leaves me his accumulated wealth! :) Anyway, that thing is just plain beautiful man. Must be a lot of fun building that thing up. Must give more photos, so find a reason to snap some for us if you could. Even the boring stuff will most likely have us drooling. btw, where are you located? I'm sure you are far from me, but thought I'd ask anyway... . |
wow really looking forward to more progress on this piece! what class racing are you aiming for?

The car will be street legal and SCCA/NASA compliant. I'm building it the way I want while not being constrained by any class regulations. I will drive it on the streets and probably only time trial the car so it will either be in an Unlimited or Race class. The more time and money I put into it, the more I doubt I'll do any head-to-head racing with it but you never know. Quote:

I seriously love this so much. The thought of a car built for pure speed with none of the compromises required for a 'street car' really tickles me in a special way :).
EDIT: Whoa, I just checked out their site and they're actually pretty close to where I live. I might have to go bother them someday . |
Damn, all the cool shit happens out in Cali! :)
It blows my mind that this thing is going to be a street legal car. When you get it finished, maybe we'll take up a collection to get you out to the Deals Gap Rotary Rally. Anyway, I think I might have just found my "project" for when I retire. Only 22 years to go. lol. Thanks a lot for the information, I'll check that link out too. Very cool project you've got and I wish you the best of luck... Edit: These guys are located in Michigan, so I guess I have to take back that comment about all the cool stuff being in Cali. :) |
Rx-Heven... Dave, its really coming along. Any new pictures or updates? I spoke to the guy that runs RCR about a year or two ago. Great cars. I love both yours and the P4 bodies. I have really thought about this a fair amount. Originally with the Ultima and than more recently the RCR. Only thing that bothers me is the lack of opening windows. Are you good with the little sliding square plexi window and air conditioning?
Incubus... The RCR square tube, semi-monocoque chassis is absolutely state-of-the-art racing chassis design. A round or oval tube chassis could be made to be about as good, but assembly is a lot more accurate and quicker with square tubes. Their P4 is an updated version of Lee Noble's old P4 and Noble is the guy that designed the Ultima, so there's a lot of common lineage with some great cars. Gordon |

this is an awesome project. where does it stand at the moment? any photos?
|
Ordered a Phil Laird 20b UIM and am waiting on that to arrive to determine where I can stick the turbo and then design an exhaust manifold, intake plenum/tb and ic size/type and placement. It all depends on the UIM as space is tight for what I need.
Redone the engine mounts in billet aluminum and received some Tillett seats and am making billet seat mounts for them at the moment. Before that though, I need to finish modifying my mill and actually make things with it, not for it. |

I remember seeing that block under your workbench the last time I was at your house! Been a while, man! |
