Since heat is the enemy double so in a rotary i heat insulated the underside of the UIM. As things go for time consumption Polishing is #1 this takes a close 2nd.
Clean the ever living snot out of the UIM get every last piece of grease i can possibly scrub off of it http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29001.jpg Start application http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29028.jpg Finish http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29029.jpg The Fuel system took me a while. I spent to much time cleaning. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29030.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29032.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/Jan29033.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...stuff002-1.jpg Switched to MSD coils for primarys and Escalade coils for secondarys http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...stuff001-1.jpg |
Got a bracket made for the coils and reloomed them up
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../feb610003.jpg I hate....HATE wiring fuuuuuu http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../feb610002.jpg And my aluminum door handles came in. The FD's stock plastic door handles suck big floppy donkey dick. Over time they'll warp or break. My driver side handle is warped and wont push the pin far enough down to open the door. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../feb610001.jpg |
Bought from dudemaaan on this forum.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../feb910003.jpg RE hood struts http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../car/parts.jpg Ended up changing the fuel system around. I was told hooking the feed up to the secondary rail was better so that's the way i went. If you have any suggestions let me know. Pump mounted http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ar/meth002.jpg Meth line i wrapped it since braided lines have a tendency to eat through things http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ar/meth003.jpg So i first tried to put the novel in the black coupler i had only problem is it's to thick and i couldn't thread on the backing to seal the coupler http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ar/meth004.jpg So i had to use an old blue coupler i had that's a bit smaller i'm sure it will work right but i need to find something else. You can see the silver washer looking thing on the blue i couldn't get that piece on the black coupler http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ar/meth005.jpg Fixed http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...ar/meth006.jpg Pressure light Red when building Green when on http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../meth001-1.jpg Low level light http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../meth002-1.jpg Fuse block for pump http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../meth003-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../meth004-1.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3.../meth005-1.jpg Main power and main ground just left to run and a retune yaaa |
My first Dyno season was fun but my car was being a POS. First off i drove all the way to Palm springs on 1 rotor. Yeah i screwed up some wiring on my coils so 1 rotor was not working. Lets just say it was 1 of the most painful drives i have ever made. I felt like a Top Gear presenter, you know when they screw up and cars are all backed up behind them. Yeah that was me Laughing
I made it to my buddy's house at like 11:45 we got the coil issue figured out by like 130 ish and did some street tuning. During our street tune i'm sitting passenger seat. Glenn's (my friend) is doing like 100 and i see a little bunny come bounding out of the desert. I calmly say "Bunny" it runs out and runs smack into the side of my car  Glenn barely swerved which i thanked him for, plow that stupid bunny don't spin us out into the desert at 100mph. I start laughing my ass off we go down and come back doing another pull and the bunny was gone. The fucker lived after running smack into the side of my car. We didn't get done tell like 3:00am. I woke up at like 530am and couldn't go back to sleep. We ended up leaving for the Dyno at like 730. Dyno session didn't pan out though my car was being a little bitch. The ECU kept disconnecting from the laptop as soon as they started going. It was pulling hard friday night when we were street tuning it. I'm really not sure what's wrong with it. Here is the best video of my car from Saturday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnP0cQ_jKDI FIRE  We tried for about an hour and a half to get it to act like it's suppose to and it never did. The best pull i got was a 203hp at 6k rpm's Crying or Very sad The dyno graph was very sergey and all over the place. Hopefully i'll have it figured out by next month and do another dyno season. |
New tires YAAAAAAAAAAA my Volks can go back on finally dam ugly AVS rims are getting taken off. The back of my truck right now.

Got myself a new used clutch still haven't mounted it yet.
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_0249.jpg Finally got a trans cover. My car had been missing it since i bought it found it on ebay for 20$ http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMAG0050.jpg Also did some work on the interior lights. For some reason Mazda thought black was a good color for reflecting light inside the car. So i took them apart and painted them and put in an LED bulb holly crap it's like day time in my car now. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMAG0048.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMAG0049.jpg http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMAG0051.jpg |
Finally got my fenders rolled and dropped the car 1.5inches all around
Before http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_1970.jpg After http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_1971.jpg Car also got himself a new home http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_2022.jpg Got a custom splitter made http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMAG0069.jpg Also started working on new bushings. Before http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_2031.jpg After http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_2032.jpg Before http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_2028.jpg After http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...r/IMG_2030.jpg Got my steering rack bushings in what a PITA. Since i don't have new pillow balls yet it will be a while before i have the bushings pressed. I'm not in any hurry. |

Sooo.....all that work and rocking a 6spd RX-8 knob?
You need to go to Rotary Performance and get one of their 5spd RX-8 knobs. Just giving you hell, great build! |

I give you a break Brian since your FC was temporarily a 6spd.
There is a way to pop the glass out. I remember when Phil's FD had an RX-8 shift knob that had a piece of CF sticker under the glass to cover the 6spd pattern. The metal trim on top is just glued on, so you can pry it off and then re-glue it too. |
That tranny shall be resurected and returned to it's glorious mad tyte quick shifting and prefect ratio's. SHE (and therefore not gay becuase she constantly fucks me ) was a 4s 0-60 car with that trans. Pulled sooooo hard
Just to be politically correct though I have both the 5 and 6 spd RX8 knobs ;) |

As for EMAP i honestly don't know what that would do for me. Enlighten me o mighty one. As long as i can get a 0-5v pickup i'm sure i could wire it into the haltech |

EMAP is nice for tuning for a few reasons.... specifically for you and I, it allows us to see a better place to run the transition. There comes a point when the EMAP gets so high the turbo's are basically a cork in the exhaust killing power. Using the EMAP to set the transition allows for tuning a smoother one. EMAP is also nice for tuning timing and you can use it to trim fuel while cruising.... but that's fancy Motec shit My EMAP sensor is the same as yours and my MAP sensor, just plumbed differently |
Quote:
I'm not sequential so i don't have a transition. But i see what your saying. So you run a basic 3bar GM MAP but run what a braided line from your DP into it? |

Running EMAP in the DP could be useful info, but it wouldn't help with the tuning aspect of it, the line needs to be pre-turbo. I've got an SS 1/8" to -3 adapter threaded into the manifold. From there I've got 2' of SS brake line. At the end of that is a female -3. Then 8" of -3 braided with a male crimped on one end, and a female on the other. The MAP sensor is mounted in a billet mount threaded for 1/8" npt, so you just thread your adapter in there and the braided line screws on. The nipple on the actual sensor presses into an o-ring in the mount, trick little piecem eliminates all the fluctuations and shit you get from vaccuum tubing and the chances of the line getting pierced or blowing off are basically nill. |
Quote:
and of course, if you happen to be partial throttle... because, i dont know, you're playing in the mountains, you hit the tranisition point of the turbos and you don't have enough exhaust flow so you go from 7-8 lbs on one turbo to 0 LBS! on both turbos..and the car falls on its face... and let's not even talk about what happens when your in the middle of a curve and the 2nd turbo decides it's time to spool!!! previous owner's hubby got a little scared when i did that... twice... |
Quote:
I don't know if i'm sophisticated enough to pull something like that off. Perhaps something i'll look into when i get to single turboing the car |
