Nice display of rotary goodness

And then there's.....that....shift knob.

Step up to an RX-8 5spd knob. Rotary Performance sells them. Do it.

Price and link (or is it a phone in and ask sort of deal)?

djmtsu 03-22-2011 08:43 PM

Midway down the page.

This is the one I had on my FC (and is now on FerociousP's FC).

vex 03-22-2011 09:03 PM

lol, I was looking for it in the wrong location (FC and SE) Thanks! I'll probably pick that up in the not-to-distant future (after I get the car up and running).

$100 for a knob?

Hey! Its pretty sweet! And it goes great with my Rx-8 seats! And I get to touch my knob while I drive!

But seriously... We all have our things that we spend money on that don't make the most sense. (If you paid full price) You paid $70 for that carbon fiber shifter surround thing and who knows how much for the carbon fiber trim panel. It doesn't add any functionality... you just think it looks better.... Potato. Potato. ;)

Yep, and worth every penny. When I bought mine (around 5 years ago) the only way to get a 5spd RX-8 knob was to get one from Europe. They were in the $250 range. Others were rocking 6spd knobs in a 5spd car, which is lame as balls.

The weight and feel of it was awesome. I miss it, and will probably buy another for the FB.

Here's a pic of when it was in my FC with new shift boots.

Take note, this is with a short throw shifter installed as well.

I had one of those badboys on my FC, then I became an elitist and put a 6spd in the FC, so now I rock a 6-spd knob in the FC and the 5Spd knob is enjoyed daily in my Mighty XJ

That is implying that you paid $250. I think they're worth it... don't know if I'd pay it though.

FerociousP 03-23-2011 01:24 PM

lol, nice TTT. Thread officially derailed too... haha

RXTASY 03-23-2011 01:26 PM

I think you're too close to Canada. $250 is expensive for a shift knob, cheap for your mom.

Not sure, since it isn't JDM, but rather EDM :)

TitaniumTT 03-23-2011 07:22 PM

DJ where did you get that ebrake boot?

djmtsu 03-29-2011 08:11 AM

I got them from Indyparts back when he was selling boots. I think he is out of the FC parts game all together. He hasn't posted here or at 7club since 2009.

redlinegoods.com has them now, I plan on picking them up for the FB.

The pictures suck, but they were black leather with white stitching.

RXTASY 03-29-2011 08:33 AM

I went ahead and ordered the knob.
I think it will actually make my shifting quicker.
The thing is about ready to tear up the track!

rx7 FC TII 03-30-2011 09:54 AM

i thought about picking those same carbon fiber parts up a couple weeks ago when i redid my entire interior but wasnt sure if i would like it. i now regret not getting em.

i also have the redline shift boot, ebrake and armrest with an rx8 shift knob and mazdatrix short shifter. im very pleased with all of it.

Told you. It has great weight to it, and it feel solid, fills your hand (insert dirty remark here).

Enjoy!
