Damn it zgn u took my comment. Oh well let's see "drink" "bonsi" and "vodka" stick in my brain along with the "dead skunk" for us sc peeps saturday.
|
The best part of the whole rally was the driving. I mean all of it. Every road to and from the dragon is simply amazing. The dragon itself is the icing on the cake. To be honset, I find the roads to and from the best. Getting to see everyone again and meeting new people came a close second haha!
The worst part is the food around the lodge. That burger place is awesome but everything else falls flat! |
I had a great time the whole trip! Driving the gap was great, and being at th lodge and the cabin hanging out with new friends was great!..... the bad.. well me and a small group decided to go up to the gap and make a few passes on saturday. well I lead our pack and we got .4 miles on it and me and the driver behind me both got ticked for going 76 in a 30! the other driver got 74... so those are pretty hefty tickets and somewhat ruined the gap for that afternoon.. we then decided to go drive the skyway not knowing how long it really was. on the way we hooked up with another group going to the skyway. we got to the top and were worn out of driving by then. somone in the group thought that it was quicker to keep going on the skyway because to looped around back towards the cabin. well we finnished the whole thing and stopped at a gas station in A town that had no power. by then we saw that the quickest way back was to go back on the entire skyway. so we drove back and got there just in time for the banquete. at the banquete I won a bunch of really cool prizes and that made up for the whole day i think!
All in all I had a blast and cant wait for next year! SSSSOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCCCCIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Best: I have (alleged :suspect: ) proof the FC NA can go 74 on the gap.
Worst: A Tennessee state trooper supplied the proof. Social!!!! |

Best, the driving! Also, hot tub girl on girl action...
Worse, gas prices and killing my AFR gauge. |

Best part of DGRR is of course driving on the awesome roads and meeting fellow rotary lovers... got to meet a lot of new people this year and see a lot of familiar faces too. I'm already ready to go back. |
Worse: Sitting in traffic on I-81 for almost 4 hrs on the trip down Thursday night. A tornado took out a truck stop and dumped trailers all over the interstate.
Best: Riding with a bunch a cool FD's. It was good to see the other 20b's and meeting folks I had only talked to on the forum. |
The good..riding with the "porsche guy" and got pulled over and BS his way out of a ticket, also the drive was fantastic on Friday morning to and from Skyway, Last but not least, winning 1st place in old school class.
The bad..I hate MINIs ...especially after this trip |
What worst? The wife and I had a great trip, thank you guys for running this event, another good job!!!!!! The caravan from Atlanta was fun also, see you again next year
|
The whole trip was awesome for me. I have NEVER seen so many rotaries in my life, it was fantastic! Here in Jacksonville it is just a sea of riced out Civics..
I was absolutely amazed at how awesome everyone was. There was not a single rude person in the group. I have been to car meets were I felt uncomfortable the entire time cause everyone was in their own little group, but everyone at DGRR was completely approachable. Another thing that impressed me were the older rotor heads. It was great to meet gentlemen my grandfathers age that still cared about their cars, and were involved in the rotary community. Meeting guys who bought their first gens brand new, still had them, and maintained and improved them for over 30 years, is absolutely amazing to me. And of course there are the roads. I live in Florida, were every road is straight and long, and ruled by wanna be drag racers. The dragon was severely intense, though I thought the skyway proved to be just as fun. I was finally able to use all the skills I learned dodging cones on a real road. They especially came in handy when I half slid off the road after hitting gravel on moonshiner 28. But even that was a blast! The only bad thing I can think of for the whole weekend it that I live 8 hours away from it. I want to go for a drive now, and wish it was just 30 minutes away... |
Glad your trip was good...sorry I got that decal to you AFTER we got to the village. Best laid plans were gone with that rain storm and us FD guys not having a/c to defrost...sorry we got split up!

Good - Seeing that there was no accidents at DGRR.... seeing new faces and talking with the old.
Bad - Being sick, no car to really drive around for the 4th year... sucks! |
yes there should be a get together would drive up for it
|
Good - knowing that everyone had a great time and that we still have new people coming to DGRR every year
Bad - trying to cram all those damn cars in such a small parking lot for the car show :) |
Good- car ran good, no broken or damaged parts. All around a nice drive with great people.
Bad- I'm still kicking myself for it not jumping in the caravan for the Mitty I thought about it the whole weekend but decided against it. Next year however I'm definitely going to both. |
Good - meeting new people and the awesome driving on the dragon...my car actually turned over 100,000 miles on the dragon...EPIC!
Bad - the 4.5hr drive up there Will definitely be going back next year...i was in the two-toned RX-8 :) |
The good: The Rx-4 made the trip and I could actually push it pretty hard around the gap! I had the front brakes smoking at the lookout at one point.
The bad: Taking the Rx-4 on the trip. No cruise control, LOUD exhaust, 4 speed transmission, 4000 RPM for endless hours on the interstate equals I'M HEARING IMPAIRED! |
Good: most of the trip.
Bad: blown motor, blown passenger front wheel bearing, and the u-haul behind my mom's van on Sunday morning. I already sourced a junkyard 12a. Disassembly starts soon. |

Right as we passed the Advance Auto (or was it Autozone) on 411 we got a call that Tray's multi-colored FD wore through the chassis harness on the dragon when someone had it out for a run. Fortunately we were on our way with cell reception at an auto parts store lol. A few crimps and cuts later and we brought it on home. -The guy that climbed the hill to take the group pic. |
the trip was allover bad ass!!! holly made some awesome food!!! meet some awesome people! got to drive some awesome roads with some awesome cars with awesome engines!!! can't wait for the next time !!

Another killer DGRR!
GOOD: Meeting a bunch more guys I've only seen through the Internet, the Skyway drive was great, Atlanta caravan was great. Getting picked to wear one of this year's "hate on Rich" T-shirts was great. The banquet was a BLAST, won a few good prizes and was cracking up the whole way through. BAD: Lots of traffic on the Dragon, but I figured as such. With the Dragon half closed last year we had a unique opportunity, I did MANY full-bore blasts through last year. Wish I could have had more time to talk and meet more of you guys. The drive up through the rain Wednesday night sucked, but I discovered the magic touchless car wash that made it all better :). Here's to next year! Dale |
Best- largest beer-a-mid at the awards ceremony
Worst- largest beer-a-mid at the awards ceremony I have no voice from the SOCIAL! war with the Georgia crew. Worth it though. |
Oh, and I didn't get to enjoy some beer with Titanium because he had to work his magic on too many broken 7's. Didn't get to be 'touched' by RedR1, and nobody brought me a glass sunroof.
|
this made my 2nd yr for dgrr. had a great time and met some wonder full ppl and able to put some names and faces to the user id's here. only bad part of the whole weekend.....went by to damned fast. looking forward to next yr.
|
Best: This year I did outdoor nature type stuff and it was a blast. Met some nice and welcoming people as always. Did some spirited driving through the Gap, and made my passenger puke :puke:
Worst: There's never enough time to do everything you want to do, we should make it a week long event! Like always, I never get to meet all the faces I would like to. Next year I will ride the Skyway! every year I say I'll do it and never do. |
Good: Over 180 miles of the trip down I managed 30.1mpg with no thermo sensor and no O2 sensor. I don't think my car likes sensors. It spat the O2 sensor out completely first turn on the dragon. Talk about sounding like a tractor...
Great: The roads. The Dragon is incredible, but in a lot of ways I prefer 28. I did get to have a nice clean fast run down The Dragon Friday morning doing an S4 NA's best to keep up with Kevin Henderson lol. No cops, and only a few turns of a Triumph that got out of the way. Skyway is incredible, but there's nowhere to pull off for the best views. I prefer 441. That road is simply stunning, and there are pull offs near the peak that cover a huge swath of valley without trees getting in your way. It is simply breathtaking. Greatest: The people. I less than three BAW cabin. The rest of you guys are awesome as well. People are so nice, they will sell you a set of RB sway bars for $5... :) Thanks again to the man in that beautiful Celica. Everyone I ran into from giving random folks rides to seeing people I met last year, to meeting new people from online were all very friendly. |
