DGRR 2012 To Do List

SO I figured I would start the thread this year, as we have usually had one!

Replace trailer lights, and all new braketry (thanks neighbors with riding mower)

ON the Dually: Both front tires replace
Front Steering stabilizer

On the 84 ITA RX-7 (deep breath)
Finish the front wheel spacers/adaptors on the mill/lathe
Finish the front brake caliper mounts
button up the front brakes
swap out the rear brakes for TII brakes also
rear axles
fabricate rear spacers/adaptors

decide if I am going to replace the damaged front fender, and valance.. or go with the Mandeville style GTO Body kit.

(Very Probable :D.. was the plan till the brake conversion took over)
Balance the reciprocating assy for the 6-port Eprod motor.
Assemble it
clutch cover for 5.5" Quartermaster :drool5:
install it
wire up Wolf 3D 4.56
Exhaust

(Fairly unlikely)
Take apart the former Jim Bonsi dry sump 675 hp NA hill climb 13B
go over all the parts and re-assemble
install
wolf
exhaust

I'd add my list, but I did that last year and ended up blowing my engine and didn't have enough time to be ready for DGRR. So...yeah. lol I'm MAKING it this year dammit.

TitaniumTT 12-28-2011 06:02 PM

speedjunkie 12-28-2011 08:28 PM

Well Zico SAYS he's definitely going this year, but we'll see if we can finish his car too haha. And one other person is coming whether his car is ready or not, and we may have one more coming with us. Once I know for sure that I have leave approved I am putting my money down.

WE3RX7 12-28-2011 08:37 PM

A lot of WTFs on your list B -

1st... Haltech, you feeling ok? I have no issues with haltech, but running anything than Motec in your camp is like cutting off the little toe - you don't really need it but you feel damn good when it's there.

2nd... rotary miata???? seriously??? I hate you...

Yup, going in Mom's 'vert. Don't need a MoTeC to run a stock turbo stock redline non high-strung rotary. I would've gone with the Micro-Tech for cost and ease but it doesn't have the outputs or logging that I require. I want to log Air temps pre and post intercooler and coolant temps pre and post intercooler and oil temps pre and post oil coolers.... just shut up ;)

As for outputs.... can't really depend on her to watch the gauges and even at that they are less than accurate. So I'll be using some outputs to trigger LED warning lights. Can't do that with the Microtech.... also, the Haltech has the "Engine Saver Function" which could come in handy. I'm actually debating putting the OMP back on because I'm not entirely sure she'll remember to pre-mix the damn thing.... even though there will be a case of pints of premix in the trunk, it's getting her to remember to do it.... so yeah.

 Not for me, for the old man.... here's the kicker, I'll be paid to build most of it, and tune it, and test it ;) But yeah, GT35R 6-spd MoTeC Miata :hurray:

He want's it done by late March... actually he wants it done by late feb so he can ship it to Sebring to go plat... I laughed at that timeframe

WE3RX7 12-28-2011 09:12 PM

Thats pretty sweet though on the miata - one of my ultimate bulids if I ever had the chance to do it. I may have to make a trip up there when it's done so we can see how it rides before getting it shipped off!

Agreed on the Haltech over Microtech. You'll have your fair share of Haltech experiences in your new spot at Dave's... matter of fact, pretty sure you're getting one delivered in the next few weeks, lol...

It ain't making sebring I can tell you that... first time it'll be on the track will more than likely bee 4/16 and 4/17, and I'll be there... it the Pre-DGRR track day!!!!

I can't wait to get that Haltech... hell my new 2000 will be here tomorrow... I've had enough experiences with E6Kraps to want to shoot myself over it. My how things have improved. THe PS2000 and the 1000 that are getting delivered should be a dream to tune compared to those things

Also of note.... the most used tool in the Dyno room is my multimeter. Seriously. There are more wiring problems to fis than anything else. The one I pulled in earlier tonight had the MAP sensor wired backwards. So when it fired up it was being fueled for 30psi  Fucker actually ran too. Fixed that problem and now it won't start.... Oh well... hit it tomorrow.... sleepy time now...actually time to go home and eat.

Will you be accompanying the deliver of said haltech in the coming weeks?

Well, I'd try that, but knowing my luck they'd say "well you can't drive anyway, so stick around here and do some paperwork"..ARGH!!!! lol I called back today, so I should know something by tomorrow.

N.RotaryTech 12-29-2011 10:20 AM

Plan A: The FB.
Basically rebuild every part of the FB.
Rebuild 13b HBP motor
Find out how to get the 13B engine an trans installed.
Redo interior
Upgrade suspension
Upgrade brakes
Paint exterior
There's also going to be a lot of fabrication going on.

Plan B: The FC.
Depending on how the FB is coming along, like if its not going to be finished:
Rebuild oil-leaking turbo again
Reinstall turbo setup
Find out whats causing the light throttle issues and fix it.

djmtsu 12-29-2011 12:02 PM

Classified

speedjunkie 12-29-2011 06:37 PM

Well I registered a bit ago, so here is my list, although not all inclusive. I'll try to finish as much as I can, but as long as the car is running and it's reliable enough to drive, I will be going whether everything is done or not.

-Install new turbo with new manifold, downpipe (need to get DP and mani made still), and wastegates
-Make new VMIC with new mounts
-Make new mounts for radiator
-Duct IC and radiator
-Install new hood, duct VMIC through hood
-RS-engineering anti-surge system
-Figure out if engine is burning oil (or if it's the current turbo) and rebuild if needed
-Might install aerocatch hood latches, or maybe old style, depending on how bad hood is flexing
-Install oil catch can (once Adam finishes making it lol)
-Make undertray and install ducting to brakes
-Possibly install new FEED bumper
-Install Tweakit diff brace if it's finished in time
-Possibly install tranny brace
-Put on new wheels

That's pretty much it I think, those are the basics anyway.

orion84gsl 12-29-2011 10:43 PM

On the FB:

Install RE-Speed TII brakes all around with 5x114.3 Moser axles.
Install new aluminum rad. Probably have to do some custom bracketry for this since it's thicker than the stocker so the fan will hit the front pulley and the fan won't fit in front because of the sway bar. A little FC style angle is in order.
(Maybe) Make aluminum inner door panels and redo front speaker pods.

Buy and install the following:
PERFECT wheels.
New tires.
New better seats.

Fender roll/corner balance/alignment
If money and time remains, new exhaust then dyno tune. If not then just dyno tune with the RB exhaust.

Thats this weeks evening activity...

3 of the 4, 1.5" thick billet Steel disks have the centers bored to be hub centric.
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/130...1012306.th.jpg

A mandrel is turned on the lathe so I can put it on my CNC rotary table to get all the holes milled out properly.
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2...1012305.th.jpg

Also the surface needs milled down to 1" thick, leaving a .5inch thick center section to turn in the lathe and make it hub centric for the rim as well.

:iagree: Same here! Nothing new or fancy except for installing my extra vert wheels on the trailer but that requires work lol.

estevan62274 01-13-2012 12:05 PM

I have a short list of things to do.
Just haven't had the time to get on it.
I hope to have theses things done before DGRR 2012

1. Change out the solid motor mounts to polly mounts.
2. Replace the trans and rear end fluids with redline fluids.
3. Install lowering springs and then get a alignment done.

fire85gslse 01-18-2012 10:03 PM

If the FD is done, tuned, and ready.
SA too far along still
Camaro, dont have 3 rotor
Repu - hope to have sold by then

FC Zach 01-18-2012 10:06 PM

So Chad, you're actually going?!

djmtsu 01-19-2012 07:57 AM

No, he is just posting what he could do if he were going :)

I have to fill it with fuel, throw some 2 stroke and extra quart of oil in the trunk and give it a bath.

I took the time off from work and plan to go if I can get the FD or SA done.
FD just needs the tuning done, and some small things.
SA needs wiring, tuning, tranny mount, and alot more crap

Rotary-Kytten 01-24-2012 09:02 PM

By no means is this my entire list but a poor college girl can't afford the fancy stuff :(

1.) Finish painting my summer rims -one down, three to go
http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/a...areoutside.jpg

2.) Detail my entire car

3.) New Intake

4.) Change all fluids

5.) Get an epic rotor tattoo

6.) Pack like a girl

7.) Maybe find a co-pilot

8.) Gas n' Go !!!

9.) Avoid tickets and wrecks - this will be my last Dragon run under my warranty so if my engine goes I hope it is on my last run of the weekend :coolgleamA:

Sephitrask 01-24-2012 10:03 PM

Love the color match!! Mine are white now (I need an updated pic). The car is ready as is, but if I have extra cash before hand I MIGHT lower it :)

DO IT!!!!!!! If I could afford it I would certainly lower mine but i need a new exhaust first - she sounds so quite the 7 guys kid me and constantly asked if it's even running :( I'd like to see what yours look like white - I didn't think I would be a fan of the matchy-matchy rims but it's growing on me.

here is a pic of mine. I love the look. My wife saw that I posted about possibly doing springs before hand, and that has apparently been changed to a definite. I love my wife, she is awesome!

I liked yours better the way it looked in your sig.

I looked FOREVER to find a good white RX-8 (both times I have bought one) and always came up short. They always had the red/black interior, or were beat bad.

My new 2006 Phantom Blue has the wing and aero package, and I wish it didn't :(

I'm weird like that.

my88vert 01-26-2012 07:49 PM

i already got started on some of mine
1) new wheels and tires-done
2) tune-up-done
3) install full poly bushing kit-50% done
4) replace ripped vert top
5) buy and install roll bar
6) buy/install prosport oil temp and egt gauges
7) wrap header and replace exhaust gaskets
8) possibly buy rotary aviation adapter for omp or make a block-off plate and pre-mix
9) basic stuff like oil change/fuel filter etc.
10) other cool stuff i find that i want before then!

Sephitrask i really like the white on white!

Proxy One 01-30-2012 10:54 AM

Plan A: FD
Get battery mounted
Figure out why it wont turn over
change trans fluid
bleed clutch
stiffer spring in WG
new turbo return lines with heat shielding
tune

Plan B: RX2
Brakes
Suspension
Tune dual weber 36DCD's

2gslse 01-30-2012 04:21 PM

FD : change oil. check air in tires. fill up tank.

or

FB : haltech, turbo, exhaust, intercooler break-in, and have tuned. time to harass Brian since the car is at Speed1

Rotary-Kytten 02-01-2012 05:51 PM

Sephitrask - I like the white rims - hard to keep clean and do they show scratches too badly?

Just as hard to keep clean as the rest of the car, LOL. I have to wash the thing every day (sometimes the ocd meds dont work completely and I wash it twice) In terms of scratches, I got new tires and they got scratched to hell, so I dont know about daily wear
