FC Wreck, on I78

Saw a White FC pinned under the trailer of an eighteenwheeler just after the Schnecksville/Trexlertown ramp onto interstate 78 while I was on my way over to a buddys house earlier today. The car looked totaled, hope the driver was alright. It was a nice looking FC to. Anyone else see this?

TitaniumTT 04-29-2012 09:19 PM

Car is totaled, driver is just fine. I'll let him post of if he wants.

2gslse 04-29-2012 10:36 PM

OH crap!! I'm glad to hear the driver is fine(minus the mess in his pants of course) hopefully he will chime in to tell the story if it is who I think it is.

RXtacy 04-30-2012 11:22 AM

This wasn't Kyle was it?

budfc3s 04-30-2012 01:42 PM

93rx7r1 04-30-2012 01:54 PM

That sucks your car was clean, and just came off a good trip to DGRR also. Glad to see you are ok though cars are replaceable you are not. care to share pics/story? time for a quick swap of drivetrain into another shell or a FB.

mazpower 04-30-2012 02:13 PM

Damn that sucks Kyle, glad you're ok.

TitaniumTT 04-30-2012 02:26 PM

Pics are incoming eventually.....

It's a miracle he crawled out of there. Car is destroyed.... there is a piece of rim sitting on my workbench.

Damn.

Kontakt 04-30-2012 04:09 PM

Holy shit!

Glad you're ok Kyle! Anyone who walks away from a tussle with a semi is lucky as shit.

Sounds like you have a bit more work than an oil change for next year's DGRR... :(

Its amazing how well our old cars hold up in accidents but luck plays a huge part of it. I was rear ended a few years ago by a semi and was able to walk away with only a bump on my head to show for it.

WE3RX7 04-30-2012 04:40 PM

When I read the original post, my gut told me it was you Kyle... sucks man, but I'm glad you're ok. That car gave you 4 years of nothing but reliability and oil changes and now's a good time to swap it all over to a new shell like you wanted to.

was going way to fast on the on ramp to 78...had my best friend Justin in the car..the entire car started sliding to the left....threw it in neutral hit the brakes...the brakes started locking up and the back end started kicking out let off the brakes by that time i knew there was no saving it so let go of the wheel... feet off the pedals...knew i was hitting the truck turned my head and hoped for the best...i remember the sound of the crash...my head getting smashed by the door frame and roof as the side of the truck went across the roof...then i remember looking thru the window out the other side of the truck and everything was dead quite which was only a few seconds but seem like forever...then reality set in and i remember the sound of the truck tires as they were locking up and the smoke pouring in the car....with in a minute we both were out of the car...i had to crawl thru the passenger side.
its the only time in my life that i really thought i was going to die...i cant explain how it felt as it happened it all happened so quick
i knew i destroyed my tires and brakes at DGRR...and i still preceded to act up in the car...i almost killed my self and my best friend for my stupidity..and could have also endangered more lives in other vehicles...a car is a car...im so grateful that we both walked away with only scratches.

2gslse 04-30-2012 05:04 PM

Damn!! way worse than I expected to see. Someone upstairs was looking out for you, if the car hadn't slid the tires would have went over the roof.

BTW... If you wanted to drive a vert Brian would prob let you as soon as its done.

mazpower 04-30-2012 05:05 PM

Holy shit Kyle that looks horrible!!! I'm glad you two made it ok out of that wreck! Looks like it could have gone much much worse!

hades 04-30-2012 06:55 PM

holy fuck. Thank god no one got killed or maimed.

How many people freaked out?

93rx7r1 04-30-2012 08:59 PM

All things considered you guys are very lucky!! Cars can be replaced. Glad you guys are alive & unharmed

Pete_89T2 04-30-2012 09:06 PM

^That. It's a miracle you guys walked out of that wreck unharmed. If I were you, I'd be playing the lottery now.

Raksj04 04-30-2012 11:18 PM

I wonder if the car wasn't lowered if it would have been worse? I would say you were very lucky and i bet you would have at least a broken hand or arm if you didn't let go of the wheel. that was good thinking.

My5ABaby 05-01-2012 07:49 AM

Glad no one got seriously hurt. Did it have a cage or just a harness bar?

RX SE7EN 05-01-2012 08:02 AM

glad you're ok, good thing that trailer didn't decide to hop over the car.

FD time?

budfc3s 05-01-2012 08:27 AM

had just a harness bar which helped so much...the bar was untouched....the rear triangle strut bar folded downward in a u-shape which helped prevent the back from crushing more...the car was lowered just enough...a few inches higher the roof and our heads would have been taken off...the trucker knew i was hitting him so he already locked the brakes up which provented the trailer from driving over the car which would have killed us....for the type of crash everything worked out in our favor so we could walk away...im not a religous person but someone or something is watching out for me...thats 2 bad crashes in 3 years that i should have died in and i walked away untouched...this is a big eye opener.

Really glad both you and Justin walked away from that. Looks like it could have been so much worse.

Good thing the trucker was aware and saw it coming!

budfc3s 05-01-2012 11:53 AM

i learned alot from this experience...i hope others can learn from it too. All it takes is one slip up and you not only endanger yourself but others on the road...i will forever respect the power of a car when i drive it and keep my passengers and others on the road in my mind as to not endanger anyone for my actions....theres alot of what ifs when it comes to this situation.

djmtsu 05-01-2012 12:10 PM

Holy shit!

FC looked great at DGRR. Good to hear you guys are OK. FC's are a dime a dozen, so who gives a shit in comparison to your life.

I can also respect a man who takes responsibility for his actions.

X2
You could just as easily be on here cursing the truck driver, it is a huge show of character to accept responsibility for this. Nothing is more eye opening than a near death experience; I have had my few too, we play around with very lethal toys. So glad you came out ok, good luck on the future build!

Easy_E1 05-01-2012 07:11 PM

Sorry to see. I'm glad everyone is OK.

muibubbles 05-02-2012 12:41 AM

budfc3s 05-02-2012 08:13 AM

Damn, I don't know if I'd be over the shakes enough to trust myself around tools yet. Those pictures scare the hell out of me and I wasn't even in the car. A roll cage/bar is looking better and better.

just startn 05-02-2012 11:37 PM

Glad no one was killed. It makes you a whole diffrent driver when something like this happens. I know it did for me. On the bright side at least the front clip/ engine ect are ok.

budfc3s 05-03-2012 07:52 AM

yeah the whole front clip is fine....engine bay was untouched...from the seats up the interior besides the headliner is fine...still a ton of good parts...cant wait to start building again.

RotorDad 05-03-2012 04:34 PM

Damn that is shitty, glad to hear you & your friend are okay. That was a very clean FC you had there.

Oyvindjs 05-03-2012 08:22 PM

you are damn lucky, ill say that! IF that bogey-wheel had started to climb on your FC... i cant imagine it... Well spotted by the trucker to lock up before you hit the semi.
Good to see you are ok, a car is after all just a car, even though i can see you put your soul into making it look that damn good.

Good luck on your future build, and take it easy!
