I will be there. The FD is still down, so I will be driving my TR6 and parking in a British car corral. My father will be meeting me in his Austin Healey 3000.
I'll be sure to stop by and say hi if I notice any RX-7's. |
Hopefully I can get a corral for us and you can stop by.
So far: ROTORX7Holly Darthrotary & guest afterburn 27 R1Chard |
C'mon peoples! we need 20 cars to make the touring laps!
|
Edit: I just looked and I have an Auto-X on sunday so ill see what happens, if the STi is ready by then I may not make the Mitty this year but I could go Saturday and leave that night to go to the Auto-x on sunday. We will see.
Im going to try to go dont know if the 7 will be drivable but then but Im hoping. If not Im not sure what ill be in as the STi is not drivable right now either do to front end damage. Im gonna try to go anyhow regardless of what I drive. |
umm.. Front end damage on the STeye?
You should come out on Saturday, at least. Chard and Ian are doing the track touring laps. Phil might come over to hang with the Mazda peeps. |
i want to do the track touring laps too, but the question is i thought they got rid of that? i plan to go, but i wont know until the week of.
|
Come on down Mason. Track Touring is $35 for one day or $50 for two days.
|
Well yeah I have some damage to the STi, I am waiting on the insurance adjuster to come out and look at it so I can get the parts to fix it myself. Probably gonna get some carbon fiber parts out of it.

I heard today that the 4-rotor Kudzu will be out racing at the Walter Mitty. It is a sight and sound to behold.

4-Rotor MAZDA race cars arrived in ATL
WoooHoooooooooooooo!
I arrived at work this morning unable to park until the Hauler unloaded the racecars from MAZDA. The 792P, GTO & MX-6 arrived. Hopefully I will be hearing that 4-rotor sound for the next several days, until they go up to the Mitty. Guys you have to get your butt up to the Mitty to see and hear these rotaries go around the track. Mazda is going to have a good showing of the historic race cars and you cannot beat the sound of them all going around the track. You will wet your pants. Holly |
Apparently I am the only one posting in this thread.
The 4-rotor racecars have arrived in ATL and will be at the Walter Mitty next weekend racing around Road Atlanta. Everyone wants to see and hear these cars race and this is the opportunity to do that. I am going to try to get Jim Downing to speak to us as a group and get HANS hats for those that attend the group tour of the Mazda Racecars. Went out to Downing Atl & Mazmart last night and Rick Engman & Paul of Mazmart gave us a tour of the facilities, they had the 792P, GTO 2nd Gen and MX-6 Rotaries on hand to gander. Rick even cranked up the 792P for us to enjoy. You guys should all try to make it out to the Mitty it will be something to remember with these legendary cars on hand.

I heard the GTO car start up this morning. I think it sounds even meaner than the 792P ... Zoom Zoom

So what time & place is everyone meeting up in the morning?
|
I went up the Road Atlanta late this afternoon. We are meeting at the Wendy's at Exit 129 off of I-85N. We will leave at 8:30AM to get up to Road Atlanta and park in the MAZDA corral. So get there earlier if you are doing breakfast at McDs, Cracker Barrel, or whatever else is at that exit. For those who know Road Atlanta the corral is just across the Suzuki bridge and the 1st corral to the left. There is a Japanese flag there. The MAZDA racecars are just down the hill at the beginning of the front straight, in the pro pits. I'm thinking we can all go down to the pits and watch Jim drive back in with the 792P tomorrow around 10:30 or 11AM.
When you purchase your ticket to get in, get an infield pass to be able to drive your car in and do the parade laps. See all tomorrow, or Sunday, or both days. Zoom Zoom, Holly |
Yeah since im not in a mazda still and not doing breakfast ill just see you guys there, Im probably going to get there at like 9.
|
Great see you there.
