Our ligthen rotors

Here is a pic of our lighten and balance rotor going in one of a built semi-port motor

How much weight did you remove? It looks like they were just barely "lightened" for balancing purposes.. :dunno:

Maybe post up data for before/after of both the lightening and balancing?

TitaniumTT 03-09-2015 04:11 PM

What series rotor?

there's more weight removed on the face, didn't take a pic

it's about 70 thousand taken off, not that much in lower the compression, we are going to run 40 plus pound of boost on this motor with E85

For sure in my next built

chibikougan 03-10-2015 01:53 AM

Not to be a dick or trash on you at all. Genuine concern.

Now isn't where you took all that material from going to interfere with engine operation?

Is that lowering compression? How much?

Anyone else any thoughts on that?

At dead center the chamber splits into 2 and forces the fuel air mixture through the exclusion to be ignited no? Would doing away with the exclusion ignite leading and trailing at once?

Also can it come away from the shaft like that?

Slides 03-10-2015 08:04 AM

You realise the tub in a standard rotor joins the two ignition points with a far larger/better flame path than any face machining ever will right? Any difference around the sides of the tub is inconsequential in terms of flame path vs the tub itself.

My concern is taking the weaker of the rotor series and removing material close to where they're very thin and like to dent anyway.

No concerns on this method! it was done by 2 well know shops

TitaniumTT 03-10-2015 02:00 PM

Ah, so it's not actually your machine work?

So who did the work? By the way you initially presented this it sounded like YOU did the work involved, as opposed to contracting out to another shop.

Give credit where it's due man!!!

C. Ludwig 03-10-2015 02:53 PM

Goopy I'm guessing. The big boost PR cars do this to provide clearance between the rotor face and the housing. It's not about lightening the rotor. If you really wanted to lighten it, you'd also mill the sides.

TitaniumTT 03-10-2015 03:25 PM

Yup, had a long talk with Jonathon about that mod and yeah

Regardless... if lightening was the goal.... there's better places to pull it from....

you keep telling us Kev SCR's and snap crackle pop are made, good luck to you man, sounds like you will need it HAHAHAHA:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
But Kev told me it was India cause he could buy razor blade side seals there that are 0.5mm and they tilt real good in the rotors chopin up side plates in under 400km......... Just ask Shane Jones who had to throw his SCR eqquipped motor into the garbage bin :lol::lol::lol::lol:
