October meet SCRX-7

Ok guys. Might as well get this thread started. Assuming we're going in order, this month's meet is due to be in Columbia this time around.

I'd like to get the date nailed down as early as possible for planning purposes. I'll know my schedule for the month in the next day or two as I'm starting a new job on Tuesday.

One possible plan is to have the meet at the Lake Murray dam. There is a decent amount of parking there, the lake makes a good backdrop for photos, and there is an area that we can use for a cookout. Cost for parking is minimal (about $3.00 I believe).

I'll see if there is anything else we could do for entertainment.

i would suggest an early Oct meet...because the Blue Ridge Parkway meet is the last weekend.

Also, I talked with Holly over the weekend and suggested to her to plan an early Oct Atlanta Meet and hit up 6-flags...

Nexcis 09-08-2008 10:05 AM

Why not make the SCR7 meet be BR3?

sumdeus 09-08-2008 03:50 PM

^ :)

rotarybeat1287 09-08-2008 11:19 PM

...or just keep having the SCrx7club meets along w/ the others mentioned. That way if no one wants to go to a SCrx7club meet in Atlanta, or North Carolina they still have the option to hit up one locally.

word...but i would hope that 3 meets wouldn't cause any of them to be smaller because people can only make it to one meet and we all pick different ones =/

87turbo_turtle 09-09-2008 08:28 PM

we are game reese name place and time prefer later on Sat so I can get a shower after work.

reese.leblanc 09-15-2008 03:14 PM

OK. Since no one has any input, the meet will be on October 5. That is the first Sunday of the month. Current plans will be to grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant in the Harbison area and then head out to the lake for photos and BSing.

This way there won't be any cleanup, so no one has to do any extra work. The early weekend also makes the Blue Ridge Run more accessible for people that want to attend both.

The schedule is currently:

Noon to 2pm Show up in Columbia for lunch.
2:15 Start heading up to Lake Murray for photos/ hanging out
5pm If anyone wants other photo opportunities, we could head downtown to the Tunnel Vision mural among other places.

*** Bring swim trunks if you want to swim at the lake ***

Add your name to the list if you're going to show.

Sure you can drive.
I drive without my left hand sometimes, just don't do any shifting while turning, unless you have an automatic you'll be fine.

87turbo_turtle 09-26-2008 01:57 PM

right now my whole arm is in a cast...i can attempt but wont be able to get out of the drive way because of the angle

rotarycrazy 09-29-2008 06:38 AM

From the evil forum, it looks like "Rushes" @ around 12 noon to 2pm.
Then off to the dam for pictures etc.

87turbo_turtle 10-02-2008 01:04 PM

ok...so noon at rush's...wow we have no leader just a whole bunch of jumble

Nexcis 10-02-2008 01:44 PM

We tried to get this regional club more formal / organized... but it majority of the people in it don't seem to want that... *shrug*

...by we I mean tray... and by formal / organized I mean structured... and by majority I mean all but 2... and by don't seem to want I mean don't give a @#$!... and by don't give a @#$! I mean that they just rather show up and drive and hang out... and by drive and hang out I mean that they just want to show up when they want and just do their own thing... and by do their own thing I mean... do their own thing.

*smirks*

N.RotaryTech 10-02-2008 03:23 PM

Hey, deep down we all appreciate what the organizers for these meets do for us. :)

87turbo_turtle 10-02-2008 03:34 PM

did not mean to offend any one but...it is thuresday and i am just now finding out where to meet...that frustrates me...no offence nexis

Nexcis 10-02-2008 03:39 PM

No offence taken!!! :)

I'm one of those who would like to see this club turn into something more... organized, like club meetings as well as meets, officers, etc.

Take a look at the RX8 club based out of Indy... www.IndyRX8Club.com This is more like what I personally would like to have... so, yea no offence taken. :)

87turbo_turtle 10-02-2008 03:41 PM

same here look at ky's rotary car club...it is sweet and even have a website...hey even nc has a website

reese.leblanc 10-02-2008 03:50 PM

Sorry I've been away a bit. As an EMT my hours suck. I got home last night and passed out aat 630 pm. Didn't move until 330 am to go to work. :)

Nexcis: Turboren and I from the other forum used to be the two who founded the original SCRX7 club. We did stuff a fair bit more than now. I was even hosting the website until bills finally took that away.

If you want to try for something like that again, I'm up for it. My schedule would be the only thing in the way, but I'm available more often than not. Let me know.

Yes, it is on Harbison Blvd. Meet at the Rush's at noon. Looks like there will be at least two of us taking photos. Myself and Allen from the upstate.

Nexcis 10-02-2008 04:03 PM

Well it's not just the website... it's the fund raisers, the hosted events other then driving, going to Car Shows together as a group, etc. But, we'll talk about it in more detail later if you like. :)

-Gianny

dregg100 10-02-2008 07:47 PM

dont you have to actually come to a meet to discuss, gianny? lol

reese.leblanc 10-02-2008 08:24 PM

Sounds good to me, Gianny!

Masin, be nice. BTW, shouldn't you amend your signature? You car isn't making even close to 440 right now. LOL. Seriously, can't wait to see what it does with the port job.

reese

88turboii 10-02-2008 09:57 PM

what, you guys dont like how we decide on meet location the night before? :)

seriously though, if the club was made formal with officers, etc, i think it would deter new comers. i say we keep casual, but ill admit we need someone to step up and make decisions on time/place and whatnot

back wehn I first started going to meets, it was nieto.. he would keep things organized pretty well. since he left and with reese out of it for a while, its gotten pretty unorganized

but im all for meets other than just hanging out and going for drives. more track meets, autocrosses, car shows, etc

N.RotaryTech 10-03-2008 06:41 AM

Wow, the planets must be aligning.
Reese is back in a rotary, we're having a meet in Columbia for the 1st time in a while, and now we're talking about organization.
:D

87turbo_turtle 10-03-2008 10:48 AM

all because I got pissed...sorry hate poor planning if it can be helped

Nexcis 10-03-2008 11:10 AM

There are reasons why I don't go to them... right now it's because I lack the time... newly weds and all.

87turbo_turtle 10-03-2008 11:14 AM

i remember those days
