"LSx" is the low-end torque mod for an RX-7.

just got a new LS1 FD track car project. Can't wait to see how she does.

I have an 1994 FD with a 2002 LS1 I swapped that is up and running. Bone stock (except the headers to get it to fit), through cats - 300lb/ft at 2000rpm. Made 327whp/327tq... It 'feels' faster than my 380ish whp rotary, but I know it isn't. Gotta love the torque though! It will put you back in your seat and it sure is fun to drive.

I'm running a Chevy Small Block 400 in an FB... runs as it sits right now, but needs a complete interior, and I've got about 8k in parts for the motor sitting around that should bump it up to about 600hp & 550 ft/lbs.

damn, you all are making it over here in decent numbers.....maybe we should look into a rotary vs. piston track event. RX7's only! :lol:

I think that what's turning me off to the conversion is not so much the pistons themselves, but the fact that once you go LS1, you lose that special "love/hate relationship" with your car, where you spend countless hours, and an immense amount of money on constantly fixing the damn thing so it runs like it's supposed to...bwahahaha!

In my opinion what makes a real rx7 unique is the rotary. That's why I love RX7's just because of the rotary.

I am in the process of converting to the dark side as the rotary community likes to say, but as I read a few post up, the fix or repair (costly repair) daily thing has come to an end.
I have a 93 BASE model I am putting a LS1 from a Firebird with a T56 tranny. Here is what I am doing to her!!! Block Stock 2000 LS1 Crank Stock 2000 LS1 (Stock Stroke) Rods Stock 2000 LS1 Pistons Stock 2000 LS1 Compression 10.2:1 Cylinder Heads CNC-Ported 5.3L Truck (Total Engine Airflow) Cam COMP XR265HR Lift .522/.529 Duration 212 In., 218 Ex. Intake Manifold FAST LSX Throttle Body FAST Injectors 36 lb. Management System FAST Should get me into the 500hp range and 475torque. I am redoing all the wiring and doing a wire tuck so you will so no wires except those for the engine wiring. I am also going to put dynomat throughout the cabin. I am putting true duel exhaust with magnaflow mufflers. I am not sure which subframe system I am going to use as I have a few more parts to sell. I do have an engine though already. I already have a massive about of aftermarket parts that are on the car. Tein coilovers/susp upgrades, dual pumps in the tank, aftermarket gauges, sloted rotors etc.... I have been throught 2 rebuilds and I am just fed up with the hassel and headache over the beloved rotary. I never intended to going with the LS1 but things have changed. |
