runs a couple of times

i have a 87 seven N/A and i can get it to run a couple of times and when i turn it off it will not start for a couple of hours then when i try it it starts just fine for a couple of times then the prossess starts all over again can anyone give me an idea where to start

Whizbang 01-31-2010 01:33 PM

as in starts and runs until you turn it off next? Is it drivable will it runs? Does this only occur while the car is fully warmed up?

You have leaky fuel injectors. Pull them out, get them serviced by someone reputable.

it does it when its run for alil then it does it and yes it runs and drives a couple of times then does the no start thing

Two major possibilities, one has already been said by Titanium TT (TTT); Leaky fuel injector. The other possibility would be low compression (especially if it's an NA). As such check compression to ensure proper compression

rotaryguy481 01-31-2010 05:32 PM

well the compression is around 112 on front and back is that ok

TitaniumTT 01-31-2010 06:32 PM

Yes, that's really good. It's your injectors. I would put money on it UNLESS when it's not starting it's becuase the prior time you drove it it wasn't fully warmed up. If it was taken to normal temp before shut down than it's your injectors leaking.

how much could i get a good set for and which ones are the primary and which are the secondary

Whizbang 01-31-2010 07:21 PM

primary are tuck under the intake manifold with the ports actually on the engine, secondaries are found on top of the intake manifold and are considerably easer to access

TitaniumTT 01-31-2010 08:55 PM

$400 for a new set or ~$100 to get them serviced.......................................... ........................................
