intake manifold valve

Hello .i just got a 04 rx8 and already in love.however i know nothing about the motor yet.the light came on and i had it teasted and it said the intake manifold valve was stuck open.can anyone tell me if this is a major problem and what to do about it. thanks

The valve in question controls the use of your variable intake manifold. As you move into higher loads/rpms, the intake manifold uses a valve to close one set of runners more efficient for low end and opens a better breathing set for high rpm. Generally the cause is debris buildup inside the manifold.

i could see this causeing lower gas mileage.
i would check for vac leaks first. then i would move to defective equipment (something is proly broken) then i would clean it with something.
G.L. with the fix, keep us updated
