Automatic Transmission Renesis in a manual Transmission car

Hi all

I am new to this forum, and wonder if someone can please help me with this question.

What is the difference in the Renesis engine that goes into an RX-8 with an automatic transmission than the one for the manual transmission?

Can I buy a used Renesis for an auto tranny, and install it in an RX-8 with a manual transmission?

Thanks in advance

Hari

you might as well just trade it in for a auto at a dealership

The reason I am looking to do this is that I plan on using the Renesis for my plane, and love to drive a manual.

If you're putting it in a plane, then I HIGHLY recommended the 09+ engine, and in that case, the engines are identical. Mazda fixed several shortcomings in the engine in the series 2 RX8.

Early RX-8's had a 4 port engine for automatics, and 6 port engines for manuals.

Later models (I think starting in 06-07) all of them had 6 port engines. From what I gather (and this is just conjecture from mr and reddozen talking the other day) the auto cars also only had one oil cooler to facilitate a trans cooler.

So, we need a hell of alot more information from you.

they have one oil cooler, but the tranny cooler is built in to the radiator. that is why many aftermarket radiators will not work in an AT RX8 unless you run an external tranny cooler. the only one that has one built in is the special made ones from BHR.
