DGRRX: I would like to thank...
Here is my I would like to thank thread for this year..
I would like to thank Stephen White (SPOAutos), John Lewis (20B 3rd Gen), Kevin Henderson (ZGN), Amber Henderson (butterfly21kaye), and Leo Huang (AbadR1) for helping me out with this event. These guys are my local Birmingham, Alabama crew who has helped me run this event for the past 5 years and they are also my good friends. I would like to thank all the volunteers who gave up their time help run this year's event. I can't thank you enough for helping out and next year, if you could help out again, I'll waiver your registration fee :) I would like to thank Rich Farrell for spreading the word about DGRR and also all other rotorheads who have helped spread the word about DGRR in the past (sorry, I can't think of all of you at this point.. but hope you know who you are). I would also like to thank all the sponsors of DGRRX. Without their support, there will be no DGRR and please think twice about buying products from non-DGRR sponsors. The sponsors below are the ones who spent their time coming to the event and they are also your fellow rotorheads! The sponsors are: http://dealsgaprotaryrally.com/image...XshirtBack.jpg I would also like to thank my wife for dealing with me organizing this event and being supportive and understanding of me to let me leaving her with the new born baby to come hangout with you fellow rotorheads :) And lastly, I would like to thank all you rotorheads who attended this event. I know some of you have driven well over 1000 miles to attend and I appreciate all of you for coming out and supporting this gathering. Your kind words at the event definitely push me to do this event again... and hopefully next year, this event will be better than one before!!!.... YES, this means, I'm going to do it again... and hopefully with support of Mazda USA. Phil Sohn PS. I've talked to the guys at NVNC and they are planning to pave the road leading the tennis court down the hill. If they do this, there will be about 100+ spots that we could use to park next year. Also, the view of the cars will be phenomenal with the back ground of the mountains! So, lets hope they do this.. If not, we will be moving to new location to accommodate more cars. |
Anytime you need help with anything just let me know!!! Special thanks to you! :icon_tup: :driving:

Thanks Phil you know im there each and every year

Thanks to YOU Phil for starting the ball rolling on this killer event and building it year by year! I had an AMAZING time this weekend, this event is truly what an RX-7 is about - the camaraderie of hanging out with other RX-7 owners, driving your car through a twisty and challenging road, and of course tons of raffle prizes :).
This is such a perfect event for any rotary owner, if you have a rotary powered vehicle and you don't go, you're missing out SO big time! Dale |
Thank you Phil for starting an event that was worth traveling so far to attend, and thanks to the sponsors for the support of the event.
|
Definitely thank you for making this a great event. It was well worth the drive, and we hope to be back next year with more people from eastern Canada.
Cheers. |
Thanks Phil and eveyone who helped and supported! Awesome once again! G

Excellent as always. I was definitely not disappointed. Among other things, getting to see the bikes was awesome for me. Where else are you going to see a bike made in the 70s, never sold in the U.S., only 39 made, much less a twin-rotor?
I'm also sooooo happy I got to bring my 7 this year as I haven't been able to the last 2 years. The Dragon in my Mazda 6... not so much. |
What a GREAT event. Awesome Cars, Great Weather, and Super Nice People. Thanks to Phil and all that made this past weekend and my 1st DGRR a memorable one.

Hey Phil,
It looks like you've done a hell of a job coordinating this event for some 200 rotaries this year. I can appreciate the task on my end as do most members of the forum who didn't attend DGRR. I might regret saying this, but it seems that this forum is dedicated to DGRR more, compared to others who are Sevenstock dedicated. Definetaly not a bad thing at all. I for one want to attend the meets and come face to face to as many of the fanatics out there as possible. To be honest with you, I live on the west coast and havn't even attended Sevenstock yet. What a team player I am, but I guess the military comes first. I guess what I'm trying to come up with is a list of out-of-towners who will fly in and stay with complete strangers and hopefully ride with members who would drive to the event and have an open seat. Kinda like an exchange program. Maybe it's not even possible due to the willingness of the attendees, but maybe I'm speaking for a mass amount unkownlingly and there is a huge demand for this. I don't know. Just an idea that was sparked to the huge turnout and my attraction to what DGRR has to offer. You all sound like a great crowd aiming towards one goal that I like. Thoughts from anyone else? Matt |
Thanks For Another Great Event Phil! Can't wait for the next one! :icon_tup:

Matt,
I think that is a great idea... And to be honest, you'll see that that's what's happening slowly over the years. Example, me and Adam from Portland, OR. He flew to DGRR 07 (I think?) and I went out to 7stock and he offered me a ride down from OR to 7stock.. I didn't take it, but he offered. Next year, I offered him to fly into AL and he drove my MB to DGRR 08. I think people are afraid to post "Need a ride" on the forum but I think someone will offer especially if you are willing to split some gas money for a ride through the dragon! Who knows, they might trust you enough and let you drive your car :) |
^ GReat idea!
|
I'm all for giving rides. Going through the dragon is much more fun with someone else in the car.
Just an FYI for next year, if anyone needs a ride, hit me up. Also, at least this year, we had extra room at our cabin. If anyone needs a place to crash or a ride to DGRR from Nashville/Chattanooga, just let me know. |
Phil, you guys did a great job organizing the event. It was a pleasure meeting you, Stephen, John and all the rest. Great putting faces to names. Everyone was very cool and great to hang with! Next year I'll bring more race gas so i can make the dragon and give more rides lol..
