2mm rotors in a pre 86 motor
would it work?
i have a pre 86 4 port motor and im wondering if i can put 2mm rotors or do i have to stick to the 3mm rotors if so why |
Should work just fine. I just did that exact same thing with my Rx-4 engine. I put S5 NA rotors into an early 4 port engine. I did use RB one piece carbon apex seals though, but I'm sure OEM ones would work fine as well. Good luck with your build.

It runs no problems? no start problems or anything

I'll let you know in a week or two when I get it running. I'm still waiting on the clutch to get here so I can put it all together. I don't forsee any issues with it. The thicker apex seals were used in the older engines just for durability as far as I know.

Ok send me a pm or reply to this gonna start cleaning mine this week

Yeah, it works just fine. Lots of people do it. Just make sure you use the correct counterweights and everything, and you're good.

excellent means i can have my motor built in a week or so instead of a month thanks for all the help

Apparently there is a difference in the troichiod shape of the rotor housing between the generations. However, a lot of people have done it with no issues, myself included.
