S5 NA Fuel Rail Question
What does this rubber piece on the end of the primary fuel rail do? Is it bad that it falls off easily? Can it be repaired? Has anyone else ever experienced this same thing?
They worked just fine when I removed them. I sold them to someone and when they got them that little piece felll off. http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...r/pdnipple.jpg http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l.../pdnipple1.jpg Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
That's the pulsation damper.
That little rubber piece is part of the diaphragm inside. As long as it's not leaking, it's all good. -Ted |
Very true, but, if that piece of rubber is getting dry, I would assume that the rest of the unit is starting to get old too.

Cool Thanks.

iirc it is built into the s5 rails, and that the only way to correct a potential and serious fire hazard it to replace the rail or upgrade the fuel rails and run an aftermarket fuel pulsation damper.
The purpose of the PD is to help alleviate pressure pulsations(from injectors opening and slamming shut) in the fuel rail in an attempt to keep pressure the same at all times and make sure that they don't get sever enough to crack the rail, cause a leak or break an injector. i would strongly suggest replacing it so that you don't potentially lose your car.
