My last run with BRR-SCCA

I figured this was an appropriate spot to toss up my last Auto-x vid.

All runs that day were clean but not quite as quick as I'd hope. Still got stuck on gear selection in two corners...

Why is this your last? Moving on to something else or getting out of the game altogether? Please tell me it's the first one haha.

TitaniumTT 12-27-2010 02:22 PM

Last one for the year I assume.... I'm basing this on his invite down there on 1/23 :D

Nice run Bill. Definately my type of course. A little on the long side, let the girl stretch her legs a bit ;)

Lol - sorry, last for the 2010 year. Get out of racing?? Ha... I've actually recruited two more guys in for this 2011 season.

Here are some pics from that event that I just came across on somebody else's flickr account, lol.

Should I stretch my tires.... :)

TitaniumTT 12-29-2010 11:17 PM

You're lifting your inside rear tire. I think you need to slam that shit on 18x10-500 with some 185's. That'll keep the inside rear planted and give you more traction. Also, you should think about running some 30/25 kg/cm coilovers and the stiffest rear sway you can find. This will also help you keep the rear inside tire on the gnd. Have you though about ditching the torsen and running a welded diff?

Sorry, I had like 3 too many Sam Adams Winters tonight

speedjunkie 12-30-2010 11:59 AM

Whew, I didn't think you were done racing for good but that's almost what it sounded like lol. I can't see anyone getting out of racing for good and not saying what is pulling them away haha.

I agree with Brian, you DEFINITELY need a stretch. LOL

vex 12-30-2010 12:42 PM

LOL, as soon as I get my ECU plopped in feel free to recruit me too Bill.

WE3RX7 12-30-2010 12:54 PM

Will do Tyler - the BRR-SCCA has events at tech so maybe I'll make one down there and we can get together.

For those who care, thats a 245/40/18 on a 18x8.5 +38 wheel. In the second to last pic, you can see the sidewall flex. Now, thats on a tire that is fitted to the wheel, if I had say a 215 on there, I'd hate to see what would have happened!

I do need to make suspension adjustments. I'm not sure what settings I had in those pics. It was the first race on the new coilovers so each run was a different stiffness. Each run got faster too.. so who knows. Need more seat time!!

WE3RX7 12-30-2010 12:55 PM

Oh - I plan to go to a 17x9 or 9.5 with 265 on all corners as soon as I find the right wheel and tire combo. Still researching. Sometimes it seems like the best tire never comes in the size you want,lol...

:smilielol5: I've been hearing that for YEARS now! When it actually happens, rotaries will be extint and you'll have the only remaining useable rotorhousings and when the thing finally does roll out of the garage there will be a mob there waiting to pilage!

It never doesn, then add in staggered sized and you end up wanting to throw your laptop out a window:ack2:

265's are nearly nonexistant in 17's. thats the max width right? if so i'd go with 265/35/18's on an 18x9.5 or whatever. rpf1's should be easy/cheap to find in that size.

Yea... thats the problem, nobody makes a good 17 265 tire. I'd prefer 17s for a few reasons, but if I find a deal a good used set of rpf1s I will probably jump on 'em. I like my nt03s though too, so I may just sell them and get the same wheel, just in the 9.5 width...

TitaniumTT 12-30-2010 08:33 PM

Must

go

race...........

Whens the next one Bill? 1/23?
