camping?
 

Ok, so it seems like most everything in terms of lodging is filled up already. On top of that I may have the gas money to get there, but not for a hotel, but I really don't want to miss it. So I was thinking I could just bring a tent and pitch it right next to my car.... lololol. Has anyone done this in the past? Will the place hosting the event permit it? Any info would be appreciated!

Back in 07 my father and I camped on one of the pull offs on the dragon. I loved every minute of it, minus putting the tent up in the rain. : )

PS: Deals Gap Resort usually has room for camping for about $10 a night including a free bag of ice.

I thought Nantahalla Village had a campground but didn't see anything. I guess you could just call and ask. 800-438-1507

There's a campground on 129, probably 5 miles from the hotel. Don't know the name but, we pass it on the way to the Dragon.

I might be camping right there with you haha. I haven't registered yet, and won't until I know for sure my roommates and I can make it.

The resort is always fully booked within 2 weeks of registration going up. You have to be quick...

There's a Microtel about 5~10 minutes up the road. I stayed there last year with some Florida guys, and you still get a 10% discount. It's the one in Bryson City.
