no drill fc3s dual gauge pod
So the previous owner had removed the stereo and screw in a chenk of metal with three gauges on it. Now ill give the some credit cuz it did look but haveing to look away from the road to monitor my leves was not my plan. So I spent the better part of the morning swaping in some speakers and headunit. Now I'm left with three guages sitting in my garage. One is a narrow band and not really good for anything except a lightshow so I'm ditching it. Now fr my question. Does any one know where I could find a dual gauge pod that has the clips to hold it in place. Id rather not drill into my already busted a pilars(thank you mazda on arlington road!)or where I could buy replacment pilars? As always any info is greatly appreciated.

I apologize for the horrible spelling on that post. Everything is done on my phone and it's a little laggy

If you are looking for new stock A-pillars, I'd suggest calling the parts dept. at Malloy Mazda (Woodbridge, VA), and ask for Ray Crowe. He's the parts manager there, and takes good care of the RX-7/rotary community.
As for A-pillar dual gauge pods that mount with clips, I don't know of any. You might be able to get creative and mount them with double-sided adhesive tape, but that may be just as destructive as drilling holes. Probably a moot point anyway, as you'll no doubt have to drill a hole or two in the pillar to run your gauge wires. |
I think ill order some and try and fab somthing up with the scrap metal in my garage
|
those douches on arlington road are useless, only second to those on state road
|
Oh, i forgot to mention, I don't believe there is any a-pillar gauge pods for S5's due to the mouse belt. You are better off making your own for in the dummy cluster area
|
Ill see what I can make and ya they are not woth the land they built the place on... the brok both my pillars and eveen lost a screw... replaced it with a screw and washer and sharpied it black :(

what size gauges are they?
I have my oil pressure and temp gauges below my head unit, but they are prosport premiums with a warning buzzer, so i know when i approach dangerous areas |
They are 2 and 1\16 they just some autometer that were in it when I got it. I might pick up one of the carbon fiber kits and make my own
|
Here is what i would do, grab a fiberglass kit from autozone, get two 90* pvc elbows where the gauge fits in nicely, pull the idiot cluster surround, and make a nicely custom molded fiberglass pod.

I wouldn't mess with double sided tape for securing a gauge pod. I tried doing the same thing years ago with tweeter pods. The sun on the dash heats it and the adhesive up too much.
And props for Akron...I spent a good portion of my life there. Got my degree from Kent State. |
I don't like the look of gauges in the center where the warning lights are. Ill pick up some materials this weekend and see what I can do to place the gauges lower on the pillar, after the mouse belt track ends.

Did you drive the FC today? I rolled by on my way to Orileys's to avoid lights and didn't see it.
