87 TII stock turbo dyno

Didn't know where to put this, so mods can move it into proper section if it's not suppose to be in this section.

I wanted to see what kind of power my car was putting down before upgrading from the stock turbo. There was a dyno day pretty close to me, so I was able to get two runs.

Engine: has about 20k on it since I rebuilt it
s4 engine, small streetport
stock s4 turbo
haltech e6k
550cc and 1600cc injectors, parallel fuel setup
walbro pump
greddy fmic
act pp and clutch
corksport exhaust

I dont have a real boost controller, just a homemade ball and spring one, so boost isn't consistent through the whole rpm range. Wish I had a better controller so I could have a more steady pressure. Peak pressure was 11.8 around 5000 rpms.

rpm pressure
2500 2.9
3000 7.2
3500 8.1
4000 9.6
4500 10.8
5000 11.8
5500 11.0
6000 10.0
6500 9.4
7000 7.4
7500 7.2

Here are the results: 263hp and 246ft-lb torque
I also go to track and my best time is 12.98 at 109.8mph

Going to be putting a t04b hybrid turbo on and see what I can do with it. Hope to run low 12s with street tires

Pretty impressive! Especially breaking into the 12's on a stock turbo.

If you were talking about a full frame T04 you should have no problems w/ low 12's actually you should be in the mid 11's. A guy up in canada ran high 11's on a t04 hybrid.

More details on the car/drag setup please.

To give you an idea on a Bnr turbo on a stockport motor

The turbo has a 55mm inducer, 70m exducer, I think thats a v-trim wheel. Hoping for at least 300hp. I said low 12s because I will be on street tires, that will be holding me back from running 11s.

Here's my thread about my setup

Went back to the track last friday, but did not run a better time. Only a 13.007 at 109mph. Was running around 13 psi that night. Was hitting high 14s, 15 psi on the way back. Was definately faster at that pressure. Intake temps did not go up very much with the front mount. Wonder what it would have dyno'd at that pressure.

Just put on the hybrid turbo. Will update with results after I tune it and get to the track.

Started tuning with the bigger turbo. I knew it would boost creep, but not this bad. Running just off the stock s5 wastegate spring, it creeps to 15-16psi in 4th gear. And this is with a s5 turbine housing with ported wastegate.

if you haven't already you need to mill out the area on the backing plate for the turbine housing the flap hits the plate and it will not open but just slightly. By milling that area out will let the wastegate open atleast twice as much.

I did grind out some of the backing plate. I guess my exhaust is very free flowing causing it to creep that high.

From what I understand, you get creep because your wastegate does not flow well enough. You're getting a buildup in pressure from the restricted wastegate.

I ported the wastegate more than what bnr has posted in his pics on his site. I don't hear of many people running those turbos with it creeping it this much.
Also have an unclipped turbine wheel so thats probably causing it too.

You can also grind a relief in the backing plate of the turbo to allow it to open further, I did this, with a ported WG, and could never get it above WG spring pressure, needed a Boost controller to go above 7psi.
