Ih8dsm going turbo

Ok haven't posted in a long time but here's my build thread. I'm hoping this will be done by dgrr but well see if I can get it built and tuned by then.

Here's the basics
85 gsl-se
Fender flares running 15x8 0 offset xxr
Re-speed race coilovers
2nd gen trans
Light weight flywheel
Exedy stage 1 clutch
Racing beat stage 1 pressure plate

Right now it's a Carbd turbo motor running na.

So here's the build specs
-cryotreated apex seals
-cryotreated corner seals
-Atkins side seals
-rx8 e-shaft with oil jet mod
-lightened flywheel
-garret 60-1 84ar
-tial 60mm wastegate
-tial bov
-s4 rotors
-s5 turbo motor
-s5 turbo bearings and oil pump
-1600cc and 2000cc injector dynamics
-aeromotive a1000 fuel pump

This is my trying to decide List
- the grannyspeed 8.8 rear end
-run a trigger wheel
- which haltech to run
- if I need to go up to 15x9 or even 15x10
- still trying to figure out the clutch as well thinking a sprung 4 or 6 puck

Ill start posting pictures as I start getting more deeper into the build

I'm sure I forgot something's that I have or will be doing but ill add those later

Drop me a PM if you haven't decided on an ECU yet. Will be glad to answer any questions you have an get you pointed in the right direction.

I'm really curious what you can do with that turbo.

+1

He helped me out a lot during my build and was a great seller.

I'm having ZERO issue with my CAS, and even enabled the variable adjust which nulls out the "timing walk" that people hate. However, you won't be running A/C or P/S so you could easily run the FFE wheel if you really wanted to.

Platinum Sport 1000. You'll want an input or two, and idle control. IIRC the harnesses now can come with a relay setup to take out a headache or two. I recommend it so much I'd sell you my Sprint RE so I could upgrade ;)

Consider a upgraded FPR too. I did it while not really needing to, though with that pump and the more power you'll be running you could definitely benefit from the extra stability. (and not a 20+ yr old stock FPR).

Most people say the rails are ok, though the line is 5/16 :(

I'm curious as well I want a good mid-high range turbo but I'm afraid this might spool a little too quick for my liking. Guess well see

Haha Paul text me about that sprint re maybe we can figure something out, as for the cas/fuel rail/fpr I've been thinking about doing ffe on all of it might as well overbuild everything

Overbuilding is fun... just spendy!! Sometimes I feel like I spent $400+ to know my fuel pressure... but with the fuel and the ecu, I have much more confidence that my setup will hold up if I change turbos.

YES! this will be super cool. when you finnish you and Mel have to run for pinks at race wars.

How did I miss this?

The build looks great. It sounds like it'll be a solid setup, especially if you take Paul's advice and way overbuild. It would seem though that 1600/2000cc injectors are super overkill. Matt had around 400hp on e85 and had 1200/1600. Someone else would know more about this than me tho.

I like my e6k and it has been proven for the hp you're looking at, however newer is always better if you have the money. I considered a Sprint 1k but couldn't afford it. If I had the money I probably would have gone with the Sprint 1k over anything else. It's debatable whether it's better than others for the same price, but you have a ton of local support for Haltechs. Also, although I didn't buy from Ludwig, he was very helpful with some questions I had and I've seen nothing but good things on here.

I'm still contemplating e85 and i always figure I can dial down the injectors as for the standalone I wanna be able to use a computer from this century and it be a lot more precise. I have thought about going your route and just going na standalone for now but I talked myself out of it.

As for the build update I'm pulling my parts so I can start cleaning them and porting good thing about winter the dealership slows down so I can get paid to play. I need to figure out how to post pictures from my phone on here
